[Loot Rules] Giles Ultimate Inferno Loot

Hey Giles,
very nice lootrules but I Can't there any rules that pick up good items for tank, for example Legs with 100vit 50res 2 sockets or so. Would be very nice if you could add something like that to every slot!

Something like that sells on the EU AH for around 50k gold. You're welcome to copy & paste the filters and tweak the values yourself, what I wanted to do with these loot rules was keep them fairly simple, straightforward, worthwhile, and just have one for everyone (rather than 50 different loot rules on the first page with all the different possible options).

I think it's good to encourage people to start editing loot rules for any specific "custom options" themselves too, as it'll get more people editing and creating! All you need do is open it up in any text editor, like notepad - you don't need any clever XML editors or to be good with computers - as you scroll down the list you'll see it's dead easy to copy a particular ruleset for a particular item slot and tweak the numbers to your own liking (that's exactly how I learned to do it!) :D

With your understanding of loot rules, it's no surprise that these are great!
One suggestion: I've noticed that it picks up ALL blacksmithing plans. While the 6 prop ones are worth a good bit, the 4 prop are worth 200-400gold (US).
Do you think it would be more efficient if it bypassed the 4 property plans?
Thanks for all of the hard work.

I used your lootrules for something about 5 hours...
... ZERO stashed items

Bug or something gone wrong?!
...i'm running with a non-english client => reason why it's not working?

Combination of the fact that not many worthwhile items drop that go for a LOT, the odd "strange combo" of stats that might be a bit valuable but aren't caught by the filters, but the biggest issue could just be the many bugs in the current version of DemonBuddy causing it to mis-read items, stash & sell wrong items, ignore items it should get etc. - I'm really looking forward to seeing the changelog for the upcoming new version!

Do be aware though that even *WITHOUT* any DB bugs and even *WITH* the most detailed perfect loot rules ever that never missed anything, you still shouldn't expect to have a stash full of super valuable items every 24 hours, if you did then they wouldn't be that valuable! I mean, if I manually farm Act 2 with a magic find monk I have, with full stack of Valor, I still only get maybe 1 good item every hour or two - and that's act 2, manual champion farming, with full valor, and without any bugs missing items or filters that might skip certain stat combos. Good loot is, quite simply, not that common!

Hi Giles,

Just came back to see that the bot has salvaged a legendary weapon. (I guess since there is a Fiery Brimstone in my stash).
How come - i thought it saved all legendarys ?

EDIT: Sorry, i just read that it can be dropped in Inferno. Sorry :)

A few of the rules are (and have to be) based on item names. Those rules are these:
<ItemRule itemName="Gold" stack="50" />
<ItemRule itemName="*Plan:*" stack="1" />
<ItemRule itemName="*Design:*" stack="1" />
<ItemRule itemName="*Tome of*" stack="1" />
<ItemRule itemName="Flawless Square Emerald" stack="1" />
<ItemRule itemName="*Staff of Herding*" stack="1" />

And they all appear twice (once in the pickup category, and again in the keep category).

If your client has different text for those item names, then the filters may need to be changed to match whatever your client displays. Also note it only picks up flawless square emeralds - no other gems.

Been using these rules for a few days now, it stashes so little and it is obvious why.

I have already toned down the weapons so they catch more, but many things seem to only catch MAX stats. I am surprised you did not lower the threshold there. A 248Dex would be missed because it doesnt meet the 250dex criteria... Still a damn good item tho but now its salvaged.

When that ultimate item drops once a week, it'll catch it. It just misses so many almost ultimate items along the way.

I have caught it about to salvage something on multiple occasions and had to stop the bot and throw it in storage myself before the bot destroyed it forever.

The question is always going to be where you draw the line at each set of filters for each item slot - and keeping in mind I based the filters on what the gold AH prices were like at the time of creation, and went off the EU AH. I dropped values until numerous items started appearing for <100k (usually waited until items started appearing for <50k), and then set that as the stat limit, and moved on to the next set of stats, item by item, slot by slot. I created these stricter rules were because my stash was getting so full of crap, I just wanted to be able to go on all of my bots once a day, and *KNOW* that everything I found was going to be if not a multi-million item, then at least 100k+, and not have more items than can fit on the AH at once.

Fingers crossed for a DemonBuddy update that will allow me to create a loot plugin, that bypasses rules and can actually value stuff much more smoothly and catch every possible gradient and variety of stats (eg an item that might have 100 below the primary stat currently listed in any filters in this loot set, but has fairly good crit hit damage, crit hit chance, attack speed and a bit of gold find too would still be able to be filtered by a new system that actually weighed every single stat and scored an item based on totals of everything). But until that's possible (it currently isn't), we're stuck with much more rigid loot rules, that require hundreds if not thousands of entries to try and cover all of the gradients between, and require updating hundreds of values whenever the typical market values change or to encompass what different individuals consider as a valuable item or not :D

Been trying to find out a way of making the bot keep ilvl 63 rare items unid and stashed. I'd be happy if it kept all rare items unid as well. I'm using this with AGB plugin which has a "dont identify" option, but the bot seems to salvage the rare items anyway. Any thoughts?

Nothing to do with the loot rules. There's no reference to ID/UnID stuff in loot rules anywhere (it's not an option). The only place that items get ID'd is in DemonBuddy's "town return" routine (the routine that runs back to town when your bags are full or you need to repair), which I believe AGB is supposed to over-ride to do it's own stashing routine coded by Kane. So you'll have to look at AGB, or DemonBuddy, for ID'ing/not ID'ing stuff!

AGB already has an option not to ID stuff which is enabled, but the bot somehow manages to salvage the ilvl 63 item? I'm almost certain this happened earlier and I'm now trying to catch it in the act to be 100% sure.

Here's what happened with an ilvl58 rare item:

AGB plugin latest version, GillesItemRules.xml loaded. AGB plugin set to not ID stuff

  • The bot went to town with bags full, had 1 yellow in bags, ilvl58.
  • Did not ID the rare item as soon as it got to town as it usually does.
  • Went to blacksmith to salvage items
  • Went to vendor to sell items. Tried to sell unid shield. Standing there for 10-15 seconds, before getting an error - something about dc'ing (didn't really have time to read the error)
  • Went idle in lobby. Everything stopped.

Attached a log. If it's too much hassle, forget about it. I just thought i need to add a line to the rules and everything would work out. Seems to me that its something more serious?

Any input Giles?

Also noticed though days of bot running, not a single Rare ring has been stashed. Could be DB faults, but wanted to see if anyone else gets any rare rings at all, since i could just be unlucky.
Also, what would you think to include magic rings/amulets to stash that are within 2% of perfect GF. They are going for 200-500k - without any additional stats.

Regarding plans/designs - answered on post 19 of this thread! :)

(go for the middle quote/middle paragraph, me responding to somebody else asking the same thing about specific plans!)

I'm holding off on any updates at all to loot rules until I see what the new version of DemonBuddy (that was due out yesterday) has in stock...! But certainly rings/amulets only a couple of points from max-stat without any other stats are probably worth adding with their own loot rules! :) As for luck with stashing, magic find and luck and rarity and DemonBuddy bugs (see my reply to someone else about not many good yellows a few posts up from this one) - I have ~200% MF on all my bots, which means a lot more drops are yellow instead of blue, and so overall I end up getting maybe 2-5 good yellow drops per bot per day.

Sorry, I understand the problem you are describing but loot rules have no say whatsoever in unidentified items. Default DemonBuddy, built-in, identifies ALL items before filtering them against the rules to decide whether to stash/sell/salvage.

AGB is over-riding the town-return routine with a completely custom-coded (and complicated) one, and tries to do special things with regards to keeping items identified. This is, I have no doubt, confusing DemonBuddy if you are trying to use loot rules - because it doesn't see any stats on a yellow item that is unidentified, and the stashing routine in AGB is still trying to apply loot rules. Since AGb isn't allowing the item to be identified, it's returning to town, going "Don't ID anything!", then going "Ok, do these yellows match any filters?", and since they are statless (unidentified), it's going "Nope, no filters match them!" and junking them.

If you want to keep unidentified items, you need to have very simple filters - filters that have values unidentified items have - that is, basically, an item level, and a quality level. Beyond that, you'll have to pester Kane with the AGB routine.

hej i have one question it is annoying that the bot pick up a lot of stuff which is crap.
if i replace this:
Code:
   <!-- Pick up all blue items of ilvl 61+ -->
   <ItemRule>
     <StatRules>
       <Rule stat="Level" minValue="61" quality="Magic1" />
     </StatRules>
   </ItemRule>
   <!-- Pick up all blue jewelry of ilvl 61+ -->
   <ItemRule itemBaseType="Jewelry">
    <StatRules>
     <Rule stat="Level" minValue="59" quality="Magic1" />
    </StatRules>
   </ItemRule>

with:

Code:
   <!-- Two-handed weapons (really made for melee) -->
   <ItemRule twoHanded="true" description="TwoHander_01">
    <StatRules>
     <Rule stat="DPS" minValue="1290" quality="Magic1" />
    </StatRules>
   </ItemRule>
   <ItemRule twoHanded="true" description="TwoHander_02">
    <StatRules>
     <Rule stat="DPS" minValue="1190" quality="Magic1" />
     <Rule stat="Sockets" minValue="1" quality="Magic1" />
    </StatRules>
   </ItemRule>
   <ItemRule twoHanded="true" description="TwoHander_03">
    <StatRules>
     <Rule stat="DPS" minValue="1190" quality="Magic1" />
     <Rule stat="CritDamagePercent" minValue="60" quality="Magic1" />
    </StatRules>
   </ItemRule>
   <ItemRule twoHanded="true" description="TwoHander_04">
    <StatRules>
     <Rule stat="DPS" minValue="1150" quality="Magic1" />
     <Rule stat="Vitality" minValue="200" quality="Magic1" />
    </StatRules>
   </ItemRule>
   <ItemRule twoHanded="true" description="TwoHander_05">
    <StatRules>
     <Rule stat="DPS" minValue="1150" quality="Magic1" />
     <Rule stat="Dexterity" minValue="200" quality="Magic1" />
    </StatRules>
   </ItemRule>
   <ItemRule twoHanded="true" description="TwoHander_06">

     <Rule stat="Strength" minValue="200" quality="Magic1" />
    </StatRules>
   </ItemRule>
[...]
and everything else under the <Category ruleType="Keep">

does this work? would he only pick up those items? or he doesnt pickup anything?

I love these loot rules, Giles how would I add additional gems to the pickup order? I want to get all flawless gems not just 1

Change
Code:
<ItemRule itemName="Flawless Square Emerald" stack="1" />
to
Code:
<ItemRule itemName="Flawless Square*" stack="1" />
for both Pickup and Keep sections of the rules

Just a quick question. I have woken up a few days this week to find a Fiery Brimstone in my stash. Is the bot salvaging something that it should not be, or is there a rare chance to get a Fiery Brimstone off higher lvl blues/yellows?

There's also a slight chance from salvaging blues/yellows to get a fiery brimstone.
