Honorbuddy Bans Statement

I know for a fact I have another account Ive botted years ago that isnt banned, I could have over half my stuff back, but honestly this banwave is just to create revenue, they know that a lot of people who got banned today are going to buy more accounts, not all of them, but a lot will, as stated above wow is an addiction to some, and a way to make a living to others, I personally was sitting in garrison talking in trade chat when I got banned, and my ban said nothing about 6 months, I got a very generic ban appeal reply, and no follow up. basically just "too fucking bad, you broke the rules, bye felicia!" Im not mad ( I was at the time, I thought I was banned for other reasons as I wasn't doing any bot related activities ) but its pretty obvious this is "shame on you all for botting.... now come back in 6 months and give us more money!" by the time you all get your accounts back, there will be another expansion pack to peddle your way, and a lot of you will buy it. Myself, I don't know if I'll ever go back to playing, and I was actually starting to play manual again, getting back into pvping and started a new guild, the whole nine, that didn't matter to them though, apparently what I was doing was SO SEVERE and detrimental to the gameplay experience of others, that I didn't even get an email, or a whisper, just a straight permaban. about a week or 2 ago I noticed wow would DC or close out/ crash randomly, I thought it was suspicious at first but brushed it off, Im now left to believe that it had something to do with my ban, I'm wondering if anyone else experienced this?

Funny thing is here. My fiance's account never got banned and she bots. Only thing we did different was I bought 2 wow tokens on my accounts.

LOL I have been away from WoW for months. I quit around the time before the expansion. For some reason, I decided to reinstall it and play again, came here to download it and saw this thread. It breaks my heart. HB was my best friend for years. I truly hope the devs, however long it takes, are able to bring it back. If not, thank you, so much ladies and gents, for all the hard work you have put into this program over the years. It brought me countless hours of fun and made the game playable for me again. If this is TRULY the end: LONG LIVE THE KING, THE KING IS DEAD.

innocent players have also been banned think about that, how is this a direct target at the HB program if they were not running it, based on what how can their be people being banned who don't even run honor buddy, I think they are looking into something on our systems assuming we bot? then you have people like me with still no ban having botted quite heavy every day even unsupervised, running into walls you name it. I also noticed my toon was flung up in the air a few times wonder if that was gms to see how my toon would react lol?

Hi,

I got banned as well tonight. I just wanted to tell you that I have NOT used honorbuddy in almost 3 weeks! So even if you haven't used HB for a few weeks, they are obviously still able to see that you did once, even if it's weeks ago!

It really seems to me that Blizzard is killing WoW. Considering the banwave(s) and the the player activity dropping below MoP-status (!) (Weekly Realm Activity - WarcraftRealms.com) they obviously are not interested in making any money off WoW anymore.

Anyway, I'm done with WoW for good now. Basically I've waited for a ban to finally quit. Warlords of Draenor really was the final nail in the coffin for WoW.

they keep logs for quite a number of years 12 or 9 years something crazy.

Just went on to do that - yeah my next payment is due December 2015 they just scored 6 months of me NOT playing

that's why I went with the month to month sub. I usually shut down for the summers anyways. Almost went for the full year when the subs first came out. Looking back, I'm glad I didn't.

Just my two cents.
Blizz have always been able to detect bots, I can imagine a tons of way how they can simply discover who is botting.
They just decided, for some reason business related, to wave all of us.
I wont play without a bot to support me, i got no time to waste on caging beast or gathering timber lol...
This is the end.
Thank you Honorbuddy, I'll keep supporting you the best I can.

Greetings!

As many of you, my account is caught in this ban wave, so I understand how irritating most of you guys that are reading this right now. All the mounts and achievements, transmog ect, gone.
People were laughing how dumb this is for blizzard because they think they are losing money during the process, but think that how many of us will go back and open up another account, maybe not now, but let's face it, if you haven't quit WoW completely by now, you are somewhat an old player, and will probably always be interested when WoW has some kind of new content. Plus, most people like me, before getting the ban email, we were all charged for the recurring subs fee.

We all love this game, to some degree. But the grinding is intended to make it dreadful, time consuming, and then feel some kind of accomplishment after you have done it. HB made it possible that we can still spend our time doing things we enjoy in Azeroth and not have to hate it by doing things we didn't want to spend our time on. HB made it enjoyable, and possible for people like me don't have a ton of time to play this game. I honestly don't think I can still play this game if I had to do everything myself that I hate.

So the real question is, are we going to pay them again to open a new account and learn our lessons when Nov comes around and never bot again, or just quit once and for all. I have seen people that are angry and try to revenge by not playing it ever again but honestly you can not hurt blizzard, and for those times when you actually miss the good times you on wow, you might just be hurting yourself. That said, this whole ban wave does make me re-evaluate how much my account means to me. Like a lot of people, I thought HB was invincible and got comfortable eventually to use it on my main account but like Bossland said, the risk has ALWAYS been there.

#FOR APPEALING: DO NOT try to play dumb with GMs, HB was detected, so if they banned you and you are playing "I don't know what I did wrong or it wasn't me using my account" you will get the automated reply, I don't know if any of you have come out clean and admitted the fact we have interfered with the game mechanics and willing to stop doing so. If you have, please let us know how it goes and the ban can be lifted or shortened.

Thanks again for letting us know that HB was actually detected, and maybe one day HB will win this battle and find a way out again. If so, I believe we have all learned our lesson and will never bot on our main account again.
Also, it will be great if you guys find out further about how it was detected, some say CPU/RAM usage data but I'm sure you guys are working hard on find the cause at this time.

Cheers.

I read an article sometime in the past few weeks that blizzard's subs had gone back up to 10.+ million right before the WoD release and was steady till around feb or march with a huge decline back down to 7 million or so. As has been implied/said blizzard could be hoping people buy another game and level in time for another xpac. Not really sure about the xpac part, but it could be a way to up their profits, though that would be some very devious business practices. You can analyze some of the data here. I didn't make it back to WoW til Jan of this year.

Of course since it appears to just be HB users, perhaps there is a more devious plan in play. (insert conspiracy music here)

So if i understand correctly...they are able to scan our computers for HB? If not, I don't know how they knew i didn't play today. 6 Month ban though..for a first offense..EVER. Seems a excessive to me. I will not buy an extra account. Screw them.

A legitimate question though, even if we "accept" their terms and conditions, if they did do a "scan" of our cpu, aren't there laws in place against this? at least here in the states? I mean yes we accepted their terms but its not like their silly TOS overrules the law right? I'm just trying to wrap my brain around this, It's pretty much confirmed that the bot was detected, or at least compromised in some way, my question now is how long do they watch you before they ban you, and how do they decide you are exploiting game mechanics?

the way i see it it's an invasion of privacy unless they lease me a computer to play their game on. i own my computer they don't. a police officer would need a subpoena/warrant to search your computer.

See that's exactly what I'm worried about, I don't really care about my account at all, but If they are prying into people's data and cpu / ram usage, that's not okay. we may have broke their "rules" but that's supposed to be the law, as far as I know, businesses can't just overwrite the law. My statement is pure speculation, but I fail to see how they could have caught me, as I mostly use only tyrael, and sometimes, rarely, questbot. I know we can't exactly keep corporations honest, or operating within the law, but if they did some sort of cpu scan this is an invasion of privacy.

uhh.. this is going to hurt revenue more than it will help it
