If Blizzard have acquired this I imagine they have obtained a lot of information as to how the bot works

This is very interesting indeed. If they had the source code from Stormbuddy, they may have figured out how to detect the other bots. I have no idea if the same method was used to automate HOTS, but it gave them insight into how they wrote the code in the first place. To me, that is dangerous information for Blizzard to have.

I just wanted to comment on this banning.

I am not being super critical but saying what's in the front or back of most minds here.

I will start with.....Did we ACTUALLY figure it out this time?

I am not 100% sure how to frame this because well we all know the risk involved but there is somewhat a fine line between knowing the risk and taking that but also knowing that when we do have to swallow our medicine that when we are back up again it's a more stable solution and we are able to move forward for what would be an extended period of time before we are swallowing medicine again.

What concerns me is that we are flying a smidge blind here. The bot was brought back online and it kind of appears the initial problem was not actually fixed and we suffered a 2nd banwave based possibly on the same detection.

I know that a fix will not be a permanent solution, it never is, but being hit by the same detection is not good. We need the bot locked down and brought back up when the detection is located and fixed. I think most of us is patient enough to wait for this. Being rushed and then providing a substandard product is not good. In the old botting days we would be down for weeks if necessary. I think we need keep the balance between product quality and time more in check. If delayed then constant communication with us will be required keeping us updated. Maybe assigning communication to one mod to always making a post daily and letting us know it's coming.

I would ask the HB team to hold off until you KNOW FOR SURE why and then repair and then reopen.

I came to HB in the very early days even prior to my join date listed here because I lost my first user account. I don't like posting comments unless I feel someone is just being stupid and I take it personal. I spend most of my time reading.

Anyways I say this to say HB we got your back but PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE ensure a quality release for us even if we have to wait longer.

Well apparently they found the issue this time according to the main thread.
 
Im sorry but there have been so many detections now with HB in the past few years it seems like every time now the response is we found out what was causing it this time we are totally sure now. Go give blizzard some more money...... then a while later bam another wave oh we have it figured out this time for sure! we are totally serious you can trust us this time.

Virtual I am not concerned with detections where there is significant time between. I am concerned when we bring things back online possibly a bit too early and actually don't fix the previous issues. From what I have seen in the past they have actually plugged holes and any ban past that was a significant amount of time after basically saying Blizz found another hole.

I think most of us, especially those who have been around long enough, know that this is a cat and mouse game and we are the mice. We will never ever be 100% safe and from time to time we will get caught holding the cheese but we always rebound and get back on our feet. Being banned multiple times within a month and more than likely with exact same detection is not good.

All I am saying is PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU GET THIS ONE RIGHT.

I am. I play Wow like it's a "real" mmorpg. Aka it's about more than ilvl phat Lewts and wtfpwning a level 19 over and over.

That means I get emotionally invested as well as my time which is more valuable than most people under 30 can begin to comprehend.

This doesn't even touch on the social relationships you develop which in wow is rare and special in itself lol.

Anyhow my point is - I went many YEARS without a single ban. Once I got that one, the next account lasted about a year and everyone thereafter has been months in the best case scenario. A) I'm not rich and B) I'm tired of wasting my time.

Depending on your definition of "extended time" between bannings, I'm either on board with most or all of your post.

Problem now is time between bannings is due to detections over and over. Not reports, not careless botting. It's a certainty that you WILL lose it. That's not for me. Before if you were careful and not grrrdy you were good. If you were careless and greedy you were likely playing for profit and cared much much less.

I'm with virtual though. Boy who cried wolf syndrome for sure. I feel like I'll wait and see how many get banned which has a few possible outcomes.

A) everyone gets banned when it comes up.
B) blizzard waits and bans everyone on a delay so people are confused as to whether it's fixed or not.
C) it really gets fixed and my hesitation to try costs me months of potential safe botting time.

Meh, not a good situation for the customers as usual.

What needs to happen is the sharing of said info with other developers. Peers need to check and recheck each others findings and come to a consensus that it's found and that it's fixed.

Buddy team isn't alone here. Soap has tentatively said he potentially found the cause and was each time wrong. Either that or both teams "fixes" are amateur and the guys at blizzard roflstomp thru em.

Who knows really.
 
so our accounts actually flagged and will be banned in next wave, and you blocked honorbuddy sowe cant bot to reurn money for the accounts we paid, well played got rekt by bossland even more than by blizard

I hear you completely.

By extended I basically mean 6 months or more. You would want to have enough time to rebuild your empire should your house of cards come tumbling down. I would hope for a year but to me anything past 6 months in our current environment is gravy.

The thing I tell people is build smart. Don't keep gold where people look and try only bot your account to level then stop. Have another account bring in your gold for you.

My gut tells me the initial problem was never fixed and maybe a rush to reopen to appease botters took a bit more precedence than the quality of the fix. But let me say that is just me saying that based on what I see. I give all props to HB and their team for how well they have played this game of cat and mouse over the years. There may well be a time in the future where the cat will FINALLY catch the mouse but we all hope this is a really long time away.

Not sure your comments are 100% accurate.

Were you botting during the time of detection?

The bot is down because the majority of the botting community needs to be protected from themselves. Nevermind the fact they are being told there is still a lot that will b!tch and moan if they are caught. Best thing right now is sit and wait until a stable bot is released. For those detected and ban hammer about to drop on you I say brace yourselves for the rest of us it came in the middle of the night when we were comfy in bed wrapped tight in our sheets thinking how wonderful to reap ll this gold. Then whammo in the morning, we are chafe beyond contempt. Not even a grain of Vaseline used to ease the pain. So count yourself lucky.
 
Wow, €5 wow accounts now and the detection used by Blizzard has been found. All aboard the hype train!
 
I have used this bot since cata and nothing in my years of botting has any bot ever been as good and easy to use as this one. Over the years i lost a few accounts mainly doing the pvp crap which is almost certain to get player reports. or heavy farmed areas that other botters reported you for. those were the only ways to really loose your accounts in the past. After HB hit over 100k users the overexpose of this bot brought unwanted attn. To everyone but mostly to the casual users that use the bot to get through the grind so they can enjoy the true environment of the game. I am one of those that truly have been a believer in what hb has done over the years. But as many people grab 10 plus accounts and corrupt the economy of the game and bring that very unwanted attn to hb has ultimately killed it for everyone. If there was a way to separate the bots say one for us casual and one for multi bots that only play to get gains not for the game at all would be a god send. I am for one who is truly at a loos over the past year in loosing multiple accounts until 2018 because all i ever wanted to do was get the grinding crap out of the way so i could enjoy other aspects of the game now i cant do anything. I am sure there are many out there that are in my shoes as well. who enjoy the game just not the grind. Who are also feeling left out in the cold because blizz has taken leaps and bounds to shut us down and HB has regressed. So all in all maybe you all can take a step back reflect on your actions as i have and see that a few bad actions killed it for thousands. I dont ever see myself playing wow by hand as i am to dam old and have kids now so i dont have the time. But one thing i would never do is exspose the bot for what it was meant to be in the first place. I dont believe it was meant to corrupt the game so you could profit off of it hence why blizz hunted us down directly and shut us down for what seems to be for good. I believe Bossland meant for this bot to be a means for better play to enjoy a game for the best parts of it not over load it wil bots to get gains and sell which takes away from everyone. Takes this as it is you can post negative crap about it or you can use this to really think before you start up again and try to make more profits I dont personally care. There is not alot of money to be made off of this game so you users that do this for what little profit have ruined it for everyone so good luck and may this be a eye opener.
 
Desperate times call for desperate measures, blizzard really went outside the box this time. They have crisis of their own to battle with, look at the return of everything they removed, the stage of the game does not look good, sure fancy shit here and there, but seems customers dropping like flies. Nonetheless its gonna be fun to watch blizzard drama unfolding. Blizzard milking botters hard this time.
