[Official] Banwave 1 February 2017 Discussion

Not open for further replies.
When we say the bot s dead it means that its inevitable. NO there is no instant banwave but your two accounts are dead already. Within a month there will be another banwave. Blizz has HB by the balls now. Bans are happening at will by Bliz.

You're right. I'm personally ok with losing these two in 1 month.

Any idea on how these ban waves are working? I was banned 10:48 CST 2/4/2017, but the ban wave was on the 1st. I only ran HB one time for about a 2 hour period and then quit using it. Was I banned for HB or for VPN?

No one knows. My theory is they banned many and flagged some and now they're banning the flagged.

Wow My Honorbuddy lifetime license ended, I started a new account on Blizzard and I got banned in the wave and never used Honorbuddy. Whats up with that?

why would you start a new account just because your lifetime ended?

They maybe using Mac address bans or hardware id bans

See above

I still don' get the logic. hb lifetime key revoked but account not banned, why make new account? why not just play on account you used hb with...not like he knew it was gonna get banned or that ban wave was coming. if he did i want his crystal ball.

I'm not going to ask for a refund, nor am I going to chargeback my purchase, I'm not going to berate or complain or threaten to sue. What I am going to do is simply and politely voice my disappointment.

I've been a subbed user for the better part of a decade, I've been botting for even longer than that, started with Glider, moved on to Pirox, then onto HB when Pirox did that incredibly stupid thing with the archaeology bot and I was dumb enough to use it even after common sense dictated otherwise.

HB was supposed to be better than any other bot out there, more secure, and more easily configurable, easier to write profiles, botbases, and plugins. That's why you built such a strong base in the beginning, because everyone saw the potential and jumped on board. Tripwire in and of itself was amazing, countless banwaves for years were avoided due to it intercepting Blizzards attempts at detection. Because of that the base grew even larger, but it looks like the end has been reached. I do not know what's going on your end as far as coders are going, if that's even the issue, I'm not going to speculate, make assumptions, spread rumors like maybe there's some kind of link, hell, maybe you guys just sort of gave up. I don't know, nor do I care.

I care about the money I'm losing though, I care about having to rebuy all the WoW expansions, I care about losing money on gametime I will not get to use now that I've lost another account. I'm not someone who uses the bot to farm gold to sell, I don't even farm gold to buy gametime tokens, I bot because the game as a whole sucks, I bot because I hate leveling by hand, I hate questing, I hate grinding. The admins who have access to it can check my buddyauth and see how much I've purchased as far as CRs, botbases, plugins, and profiles. I bot things I don't want to do by hand, but every time I get a little further ahead than I was last time my account get banned, my new account gets hit and it's beginning to just get exhausting.

When the lifetime keys were revoked, I said screw it and purchased another key, I debated buying another yearlong sub but decided to just buy a monthly one, and honestly I'm very glad I did. I don't think I'd be as calm about it as I am now if I had paid a bit more than what I did because now it's, once again, wasted money.

I don't know if you gave up, or if Blizzard figured out how to stay 1 step ahead of you, I don't care, but I am officially done. Something I never thought I would say because hell, I've been botting so long that I'm kind of just numb to the losses. I just hope that if you do in fact plan on continuing... whatever this is now, that you figure out what you need to do to survive, because I honestly don't see it making it through this. Unless it's the gold farmers that are keeping you afloat. I'm not leaving the forums, I'm going to keep watching, as I have for years now, to see how everything develops and maybe one day I'll rejoin the botting community fully, but for now, farewell and good luck to those who are willing to continue on.

Time to say goodbye.

Time to see what the private servers are all about. Too bad you can't use previous releases of HB.

What scares me is that there is only 252 people here scanning the forums on this banwave, where the last one we had close to 1500. That number comparison is slightly staggering if that is any indication of the decline of the user base.
Because using HB is now 100% results in an account ban.
And the Lifetime license revoke bullshit.

Who is going to bother with botting anymore? I did it for fun gameplay on my main, not to farm gold.

Now there is nothing left for me in HB. And I suspect other people. Once you get banned a couple times for no fault of your own, you just move on.

im SOOOO glad i didnt jump on it right away after the message :We have just found the new detection vector that was placed in WoW client.

im not so sure about that :p ppl are getting banned like crazy now

So the latest "fix" didn't fix anything?

Jesus, what a clusterfuck.

LMAO hahaha that's how I felt to. It is weird that the seperate acct I actively botted with got banned and then I log into main battle.net acct I botted with 2 months ago without bot and then All 5 acts on there got banned. Blizzard is either scanning our computers which I don't think is legal or they are just banning any account logged in through same IP address.
They are scanning.

Too many people share same IPs (dynamic). I also had one account banned (Combat Routines only with manual play) and the other that i never attached HB to not banned. Both on same IP, same windows.

They ban accounts that have HB atached to them and this is detected by scanning.

The thing is, majority of HB users are casual players on their mains (like me) just looking to make the game a bit easier with combat routines, etc. (not gold sellers)

So unless HB is 100% safe to run on mains, the customer base is gonna decrease significantly. This is what the devs should focus on.

I really would like to see a passive rotation only bot. At least we would see if it's more effective at avoiding ban waves. Soon too, I only have 344 days left.

GIVE US LEGION BUDDY ASAP

Exactly.

Devs, could you code a separate, small bot for Combat Routines only? I'd get a monthly subscription.

Sharing my own ideas, and my own history with honorbuddy.

First of all, i got banned too in this banwave.

I personally think that it's impossible to "not risk" the account, while u bot, but i think that the war between "casuals" and "gold sellers" it's useless for all of us. Anyone has his own expectations and needs for this bot. I'd just want to share my ideas and suggestions about it. I hope u'll read this without any kind of prejudice.

Personally, i am a "casual" botter. But for "casual" i mean, i just farm starlight roses (and something else, depends on the character) to make gold for potions, foods, etc. and to buy mounts, equipment for alts, leveling alts...so...these things. I don't really use the bot 24/7 but maybe: in the morning i go out for work and i put the bot to farm / level / world quests, in the afternoon i usually raid (heroic / mythic content) and on the evening i put it again sometimes, for like 1-2 hour, and meanwhile i do other things (reading, tv, etc.) and then i usually play or i just shut it off. So this is my "personal", more or less, usage. Maybe when i'm out all day i just put a char to level or something less farm-oriented. I usually don't think i could have the same impact since the farming needed (gold, ap artifact, world quests, etc.) is very hard to do by hand if u have job, sons, etc.

So, basically, in my server, with my usage, i would not have a huge impact on economy. In fact, i just spend all the money i've gathered for me or for my guild members if needed. I even buy sometimes mount and cosmetics from blizzard shop, and sometimes i even pay the monthly subscription without the token.

If we think that blizzard thinks only at moneymaking, why would she ban a player like me? Cause if i stop playing, it's only money loss for her. And, like i said, honestly, other players can only be envious of me cause i'm "rich" in the game. Do we think that blizzard has that morality built in herself? I personally don't think so. I don't spam at four winds: "Hey guys, i'm a bot, so look at my dreadfang widow now!" :D so people can't even know about that.

Now let's analyze that for a gold seller. A gold seller basically don't "play" the game. Or at least, he plays that for one account. But for the other 20-30 accs, he just doesn't play it.
I absolutely respect them, cause they can do what they want, and they took the risk of that business on their hands. If they got a ban, they just buy another account, and the game continues.

Let's analyze that for blizzard: here she can make a lot of money, no matter what. If she bans 20 accounts, the gold sellers buys another 20, so she earns like 30 euros x 20 istantly, plus the tokens, etc. while they bot at it. There's no morality about that. I don't think blizzard bans for morality questions, she just had found a way to make more money. If blizzard had some kind of morality, she'd just permaban any botter or gold seller, or account seller, etc...

So, why i just put all this poem on that thread, u would ask me? :D

That's my suggestion, at the community and at the developers, as i'm very satisfied at what the bot gave to me: lot of mounts, fun, progress...could not be more happy about that. I just couldn't think at WoW without the bot.

Instead of dividing us in two factions:

- 1) Casuals: Gold Sellers are shit! My main account was banned! I could do Guldan Mythic that night! Honorbuddy is shit! No protection! Cryyyyy ç_ç
- 2) Gold Sellers: You casuals are shit! U take the risk when you bot! I'm already botting again without any kind of protection! Fuck you crybabies! Go and kill these retarded mechanic bosses by your hand! OT (Yeah, nighthold it's pretty easy, i can tell you that) :D OT finished.

Why don't we see that we need two different type or products?
I mean, as a casual, i just need maybe...4-5 hours of botting per day, maybe...8 at maximum, and sometimes i'll just close it for a while...when i' won't have nothing to do.
For the other side, as a gold seller, i'd need a program that could be as fastest compatible as possible for the newest patches.

Should we split the bot in two different type of product?
Like:

Bot A) Less intrusive, more protected. Maybe slower in the actions, more human like as possible, maybe for a limit of usage per day. A built in protection that auto-update for warden's detection. I don't know anything about programming, so i could easily have written blasphemous things XD forgive me.
Bot B) Fastest as possible, updated as possible. More money profit maker as possible. Protection? What matters to me? In 2 months i can do more than blizzard bans do. Of course not 0 protection... :D

I just put my thoughts after another ban. As i said, i'm very satisfied for what honorbuddy gave to me in these years. For now i'm taking a break. Maybe i'll play wow by my hands...or maybe i'll just play something else.

But remember: the more we are divided in factions, the more blizzard can defeat us. Forgive my English if it's not perfect. ^_^
