Actually, they are working hard to bring the bot up and running! Of course, they never gave any ETA, especially in this situation, where the doubts are more than the confirmations.

Lets hope it would be as safer as before! 5 years without Banwave is a very long run, but I really doubt WoW ifself would survive for extra 5 years, unless Blizzard do any dramatic and brilliant marketing trick in the future!

They could have detected it this way or many other ways since it was released. They just did not put the resources into it. It's not some super secret ground breaking method..

Mate, reading on internet is not like writing.

To be capable of making conclusions, you need to have the information, skills and the resources for building the whole picture.

So reading random stuff on the internets about (probably not) new 32bit detection methods is not more than just 1/10th of the whole picture ... even less.

P.S.
The sole fact, that this botting software was undetected for years and dodged the wrath of maybe the greatest game developer team in the last 20 years, means the bot developers were doing their job in these years, so they planted the seed the "safety" feeling into all the users, so the most of us were shocked about this ~100k ban fest.

Meanwhile, the WoW botting community survived after much wider banwaves in the past.

All forgot the PQR/PE banwave just a year ago? When 520k accounts were either permanently closed or 72h suspended (I am pretty sure Blizzard would penalty them with 6 month suspensions instead of 72h, if they had this "marketing" model at the past.)

Although it does seem odd that just after the game time tokens are released, and therefore most botters are no longer generating revenue for Blizzard (assuming most botters would farm gold and buy game-time that way now), they suddenly detect and ban us.

Many have been saying for years that it would be easy for Blizzard to detect HB if they really wanted to, this does give some support to that theory.

I'm really hoping that's just being paranoid and it's just a big coincidence, but imagine things are going to be very hard for HB from now on, as Blizzard have no commercial reasons to turn a blind eye any longer.

When wow tokens were announced to come, this was my initial thought as well. I was imagining they'd go hard after goldsellers though, and leave us "normal" botters who don't participate in RMT alone. Wishful thinking, as we now know :rolleyes:

Even after you have reasons, Blizzard's past history was always straight-forward: When they caught any 3rd party software, they do their final move in matter of days! Not months, days! The Glider banwaves, Pirox ones, PQR/PE ones have proved it.

All other banwaves, not related to botting, were following the same model - instant banwave on all detected accounts, no-matter-what!

So I would hardly believe, that Honorbuddy is any kind of favorite "kid" for Blizzard, and they would not hit it for any random reason, if they had the chance! So, they finally got the chance! Now it is our turn!

Blizz was always hard with the gold sellers, harder than anything, the right expression is "Zero tolerance to gold sellers".

With the whole Token hoax, they are attempting to achieve double victory!

On first place, they in fact "legally" sell ingame gold to their customers, via the overpriced Wowtoken in the Battle.net Shop.

On second, they are luring all the casual gold farmers to volunteer into flagging their own accounts by buying Wowtoken ingame in the easy-to-get but on much-increased-price Wowtoken ingame market.

Why to monitor all the ~7 millions of wow accounts for botting activities, when we can do it just on those, which are trying to avoid paying a monthly fee?

seems kind of pointless for blizzard, they banned 100 thousand plus players, over a 6 month period that adds up to 9 million in revenue from subs fees, why would they turn away that amount of cash flow, and in doing so probably will lose at least another 100-250k players this month alone is associate accounts from multiboxing. Maybe when they see that they are losing 2-3 million dollars a month in pure cash for server access, they might decide its best to just stop trying to block bots on a 10 year old game. It wont be the last blizzard game i play, but i can safely say that honorbuddy now has 6 months to make their software even safer?

Why would you assume the next 6 months would be safe?

I find it incredibly funny that so many people(and i know you didnt directly say this) state that "Blizzard hurt themselves doing this" or "Blizzard are idiots for now losing so much money", maybe money ain't everything, Blizzard has the numbers, you cant seriously come here and think that Blizzard didnt crunch the numbers before throwing out 100k+ accounts, of course they did, and of course they found value in doing it. Blizzard didn't lose anything they didnt feel was benefits outweighed, hell, maybe they'll do another wave a month after the new HB versions for the same reason they did it this time.

Another way to look at it;

Bossland is getting sued, you think Blizzard would have spend several years already suing Bossland if they didnt honestly want him gone?
You think Bossland is gonna have a business if Blizzard continues to detect HB? Obviously not, so they may aswell continue to ham the shit out of HB and get rid of him that way, which makes perfect sense in using non-permanent bans, a 6 month ban acts as a massive slap on the wrist for using something that may continue to be detected, and that acts as a great deterrant.

Lets see what the future brings, we all knew what happened with ryftomate, Trion continued to detect it, eventually Bossland threw in the towel, maybe Blizzard learned.
 
the next 6 months will give HB a chance to look at their detection software and try to build a way around it. Sure they crunched numbers, but they have been losing players left and right, and it is not because of botting. I started playing again just because of the bot gave me a chance to finish leveling the 14 alts i have made but didnt want to grind from 90-100. The problem for blizzard is that this is a 10 year old game, that has lost all appeal. If people want to play it with a bot, who cares?? they have like 4 other new games they are working on that should have much more attention than world of warcraft bots that take up maybe what 250k tops of the current 7 million players? why get rid of that addition revenue? whats the benefit of losing players in a dying game that is on a downhill spiral since WOLK. But thats 75 bucks back in my pocket to go play something else, plus i get a 6 month break until new expan comes out

blizzard wants $$$$$$$$$, otherwise those of us who were banned would be perma banned. as many in the forum have said, they 6 month banned botters hoping they come back at the end of it, and had to show the non botting community they 'give a shit'.
 
Its likely that the ban wave did hit and they do "see" the bot. But the reason for the 6 month ban instead of lifetime has to do with the fact that they lost 3 million players recently, with so many games free of charge now they really cannot afford to perma-ban anymore like the days that there were no good options.

If you read the article, you'll find that it is horribly misinformed. It talks about HB as being a PvP bot first and foremost, and doesn't even mention it's great PvE aspects. Why put any faith in their interpretation of Bossland's words?
Also the quote they give from the header of this thread does not say anything about Bossland giving up. He is just being very careful not to make any promises he might not be able to keep. Compare it to how a politician talks, you have to formulate things in such a way, that, regardless of outcome, your words are true. That's what he is doing here.
Remember, just as Blizz is waging war on him, he is very likely to fight back just as hard. I know I would. Therefore I am convinced that if he believes that he can make HB safe once again, with the aid of his fantastic team, of course!, he will. But until that time, HB will be down. Seeing how it takes a few weeks after a new expansion hits, I wouldn't be surprised if this might take a month or two.
That being said, if it turns out that there is no way to make HB safe once again, yes, then it might indeed be the end of it. But until there is any real reason to assume that, we can all just hang out here and support him in his hard work :)
