You obviously didn't even comprehend what I said. I'm saying you are asking that Blizzard to use a ridiculous amount of resources to determine exactly what was gained from the suspended accounts when they probably cannot verify in the first place. Botting is known to go hand in hand with gold farming so they decided that was the easiest and most appropriate action to take against everyone. Investigating 100,000+ accounts, or whatever people claim the number, to find exactly when the bot was used and how it was used would be just out right ridiculous.
If what you are trying to say is based on some kind of confirmed %, like i dunno..
57% of botters use it to farm gold
30% to do arena/RBG
4% for CR on raids/dungeons
6% to level characters
3% Misc...
AND they don't have the human capacity to process account by account,
then i can understand your point, from a logistic POV. It's easier to just cut the benefit that
most people gained from botting. (but not
right if they had the capacity to do it...which we don't know (i think they do..but that's just my opinion) )
As for the real number of banned people...we don't really know (and prolly never will) if that number is even slightly accurate.
As for the action of finding out how the bot was used, i don't think it's that ridiculous. It has happened before, right?
A poster said that he/she had talked to a GM and they said we should be getting an e-mail about our banned accounts soon.
If Blizz came out in that e-mail and said something along the lines of: " due to the high ammount of accounts we had to investigate, it was not possible to remove specific items only. With that in mind, we've decided to take away the product of the higher % of botting activities."
And there! I would be "happy" with that! It's understable, and logic.
You know why they did what they did. It's not pure speculation of our part anymore. Cause the reason might be what you just posted, but it might as well be "we found this a good oportunity to make more money and compensate subs losses" (like they would ever tell us that... =) )
If they don't justify it (they don't NEED to, but it would be, imo, a decent thing to do) there will ALWAYS be space to speculate it was merely a finantial move.
PS: thanks for making a post that is actually comprehensive and argumented. Far better to debate the topic with you like this instead of "just take it like a man" or whatever =)
