So I am in the minority when I say PvP with HB is buggy? All my OP was hoping to achieve is a better, less buggy PvP system. If you really think I am in the minority for that I think you're greatly mistaken. Right now the issue lies in the both the way HB deals with LoS and the profile leading the bot into situations where there will be these bugs that can't be handled by HB. So, yes, if HB was improved perhaps the profiles wouldn't be broken, but to say they are working 100% functionally right now would be foolish.
I really think you're pulling the whole "minority" thing out of thin air, because it seems like the majority of the people in this thread agree that PvPing with HB still has a long way to go, both with profiles and bot function. Please point me me to this majority who likes their bots getting stuck in AV towers or running back in forth at a broken SoTA gate.
What my post is saying now is that the profiles do overwhelm the bot and cause it to be jerky, for a lot more than 5-10 people, I guarantee you.. and your auto-response to that is along the lines of "if you don't like it, change it".
Great support.
I have no "auto-response" and I don't like you accusing me of doing so. (Trust me; if I had one, it'd make my life easier. But then again; nobody would get any worthwhile replies either)
I never stated either bot was 'perfect'. None of them ever will be, thats just a fact of how bots work.
HB itself has 0 LoS issues. The issues you're seeing are likely coming from the CC. (After HB targets something; it pushes most of the logic to the CC, at which point HB only makes sure 'big things' are still being done properly. Mostly related to not targeting dead units, etc.)
As I said in my previous post; the BG profiles are *not* broken. The way the BGBot handles some of the hotspots in AV does need tweaking, however there are so many different ways a BG can go, its impossible for me to test every one. (E.g. the current 'theme' of AV right now, seems to be D Galv, and ignore everything else. The flavor or the week may change tomorrow, but as of right now, I can't really get any 'diverse' games to actually see what happens.)
In all of the BGs I've ran, there have been very few BGBot related issues. Some related to nav (yes, it does fall off the tower steps once in a while, but so do actual players, I've never actually seen it get stuck in a tower though), but most of which are CC related.
When testing 'bots', I use a custom CC with minimal logic to do what needs to be done, and nothing more. So I know exactly where a problem may lie. I don't trust other people to write bug-less CCs, so if there's a bug in the logic somewhere, I know its my fault, and where it is.
Not to bash any CC devs, but most of the issues I've seen with BGBot so far, are mostly CC related. (Some decide to completely overwrite our targeting logic, others simply don't even check for LOS. And even worse; some don't even bother moving to a target to kill it, instead they just sit there forever doing nothing.)
I do most of my testing on a druid; and while I know its not the 'best' thing to be testing on, it allows me to test 3 different 'classes' at once. (Melee, ranged, and healer) If you have class-specific issues, by all means, let me know. I'll try and talk to whoever wrote the CC to get the issues fixed. And if they refuse, I'll simply make the changes myself, and post it in their thread.
I call you the "minority" because only 5-10 people have had any complaints about the BG profiles (excluding those who have edited them, and just plain broken them)
To those of you who actually want to take the time to edit the profiles yourself; chinajade has done a good job documenting the profile structure. (Although he/she has left out the support for blackspots [its the same as regular profiles])
