Development Priorities

No one has moral qualms about it. Hacking is stupidly obvious and easily bannable. The only time I heard of someone being suspended for using RB was months ago when there was a bug that made its movement look similar to a teleport hack.


On a completely unrelated note, with the new desynth system and the way demimateria work, a crafting bot with conditional profiles would be extremely useful for making the hundreds/thousands of HQ Spicy Tomato Relish and Spirits of Salt needed for Supra tools.

Its not about morals, but about detection.

Buddy products are much safer to use than competitors that offer this feature.
 
Botting can be detected whether it has hacks or not. Teleport hacking in the open is stupid, I agree. But if you're teleporting around a private dungeon where you control all 4 characters, that's not stupid. Kinda stupid but not as stupid. It's like normal botting. You just have to be smart about it, don't bot 24/7 etc etc.
 
Hacking, is in fact quite distinct from normal botting. To my knowledge buddybots has never been detected client-side.
Server side, even if a GM observes you botting he can't prove that you're using a bot. Depending on the bot and profile, you could look like anywhere from a normal player to a retarded monkey, but he can't be absolutely certain, and SE seems to take a pretty conservative approach even to players that bot 24/7.
On the other hand, even if you hack for 30s if you get observed its obvious you're hacking and you WILL be banned. Yeah if you're smart about it you can probably keep going for a while, maybe indefinitely, but as soon as a GM decides to check on you you're done. And we'll never know the exact flags that will trigger an inspection. Maybe finishing dungeons in less than 5m, maybe not taking damage from bosses, maybe if it doesn't detect you 'walking' as much as you need, maybe it's just random.

Bottom line though, the reason doesn't matter. Buddy bots will always only automate, and will never do things that you can't do yourself, so look elsewhere if you want hacks.

I only have experience with Teleport hacking in WOW and was doing it in dungeons and got banned within a month. I switched over to HB never received a ban or suspension and I would bot 24/7 on WOW that made me a Buddy Bot user for life.

So its really not about morals but the safety of your account and I feel the way Buddy Bots are made are safer then any other bot out there.

even if you still dont do it 24/7, teleporting in a dungeon will get you banned eventually, and i am glad reborn buddy isn't implementing it.

The dungeon servers also check your position. Isn't client side teleport hacking just changing the packets sent to the server to a position unreachable normally and very far from your position? I'm sure the first few times the server would let slide and attribute to lag (position checks in this game are every 0.33 seconds I believe) but once the bot does it consistently and from really far away (your character can only move so much in 0.3 seconds) then you probably get automatically flagged, dungeon or not. Then you just get banned. In all honesty no one would even need to manually check since it becomes obvious with a pattern especially if the same four accounts are doing it. There was even a thread about how doing it in Coil was ridiculously stupid (not on this forum) when people were actually doing it.

So no, it isn't like botting; botting is just reading packets and then sending some that are believably from the player. Teleport hacking raises so many red flags from the get go that even automated systems can easily pick it up just by reading obvious anomalies.

That anti-spoonfeeding. :P I personally got through this via Image Recognition within my hotkey software, although it does mean I have to leave it on FFXIV before I turn off the monitor.
 
I like it. Mastahg has to choose where to prioritize development, so why work on something that's a) not relevant to botting and b) you can do yourself.

I've got a lot on my plate as it is really.

1)Rebornbuddy development
a)Navmesh & Navserver development
b)Routine development
c)Botbase development
d)Reverse engineering

2)Forums
I try and provide feedback and support as much as possible and keep people in the loop as to what is going on. Several times I've read a bug report and was able to get a new version out that day or at least open communication and start working on it and get something out rapidly.

3)Web dev
I've taken over maintaining the forums, and are responsible for ensuring its up time as well as its security. This is also why over the last two months we've gone from super slow page loads to super fast :)



So I really need to focus my time on what will have the largest impact on the most people. But there's a catch22 for reloggers really, if lots of people are getting disconnected then that's really out of our control and should be something that square needs to fix, and if lots of people arent getting disconnected then the impact vs cost for developing such a feature is too low.

With all that being said I've almost got gathering completed for orderbot, I was able to make these really simple profiles to do mining to levequests(Need to manually start & hand in, but the boring running around gathering it handled great.) to reach level 50. Now that I am 50 the final bit that needs to get done is skills inside the profile, since we are going to be supporting unspoiled nodes I need to reverse engineer a bit and see how they work and if there's an elegant way to handle skills applying effects that don't have auras attached to it.

It's nice to see what the actual priorities are for what you're working on.

Personally, I'm waiting to see what you do with Kupo so that I can poach your framework to start working on my own Routine.

What I'm wondering is what it making you decide what is top priority for next development. I know we've all been wanting a way to repair, and you've said that the framework is there for it, but no one seems to know what that is. I know there's a lot of work to figure out how to traverse the UI in game, but wouldn't that be the biggest gain for the Bot in general? It would make the few Plugin Developers you have in this particular community very happy and we'd have a lot easier time of making fully automated profiles for Grinding/Fate Farming/Questing.

I do .Net/Oracle Development for a living and would love to get more into RB as side projects for myself when I get bored, so is there anything that we(the outside development community) could do to help speed you a long the process of making this bot fully automated?
 
Well gathering is update is out. I really need to finish my changes to kupo and get them pushed out but its such a pain setting up a bunch of overloads. Then maybe ill take a look at frontlines, im hesitant as right now we don't have a system for adding jumppoints into the mesh(The capability is there, we just don't have a nice method of creating them).
