People are really spreading a lot of misinformation in this thread, and comparing apples to oranges. Comparing AMDs quad-module octa-core chip with Intels quad-core with HyperThreading, and labelling it all as simple cores is retarded.
And saying i5s overclock better than i7s is also pretty stupid. i5s and i7s are pretty much identical, and while it's speculation, common sense dictates better binning for i7s since they come with a higher premium. I've built over 300 computers ranging from $400 to $6.600, and I can absolutely attest to the fact that i7s overclock equal or better. You also don't state which motherboards you're using, which is a huge variable.
Someone else mentioned dual graphics, which I personally would not recommend. You become very dependent on the game developer, and the value of a single GPU, unless you're on 4K, is enough to push 45 FPS minimum in almost all games at decent to max settings.
