Building a new PC for mythic raiding + HB routines... any suggestions?

It depends on primarily on budget and what you are using your pc for. If it's just regular bits and pieces and wow then probs save the money and go with the I5; but if you want to bot a few sessions ahev some some other games on the go at the same time all the while doing more and more than i7

http://www.overclock.net/t/671977/hyperthreading-in-games Its an old thread but makes my point and there are many more that say the same thing. Hyperthreading will not help you from a purely gaming standpoint. Yes, you might be able to take advantage of it if your running 5+ WOW's at once, but thats not what this thread was about. And who would buy a duel core for a modern gaming PC anymore? There are so many budget friendly quad cores on the market now.

WOW... way to link a 6 year old post... ABOUT A CPU... why didn't you go get your encyclopedia out of your grandmothers basement and look up about Hyper threading.... Completely out dated information there.

Name me ONE game that properly uses hyperthreading and has a noticeable benefit from it.

2012 ... getting closer... perhaps you should look at the changes made to wow since WOD.. to support and utilise modern hardware.

incase you have forgotten.. we are in 2016
Ok, but can you answer my question?

W O R L D O F W A R C R A F T ... do I need to speak slower..

Simple .. Current wow settings running on 4k monitor - 55fps with no HT

with HT 66 FPS average...

Test done with HFC final tear LFR 30 man team.. done over 5 kills with each..

now go to bed.

I like this final build you decided on. I would only change the case. I really like the Razer cases that they make. Next few months and I will have a new PC. Time to replace this 3 year old Alienware. Its been good to me.

11 fps is not a noticeable difference for 99% of people.

11 fps is over 20% increase.

I appreciate your trolling power, but please, stop flooding a meaningful thread.

Thanks in advance.

These numbers seem made up, at 4k resolution it shouldn't be your cpu that bottlenecks performance.

I have both an i7 and i5 setup. At stock speed both perform rather similar however i am able to overclock my i5 way more than my i7 which results in my i5 giving me highest average FPS.

Besides if you do just a little bit of research, you would see that even recent AMD 8-core CPUs gets outperformed by older generation of intel i5 and even some i3. If WoW really worked well on multithreaded hardware this would certainly not be the case. Now your asking for evidence to show that World of Warcraft doesn't support hyperthreading, but how about you show some proof it does other than some made up numbers? A thread from 2015 discusses this without any facts being thrown around but still shows people having troubles with how WoW utilizes extra cores: http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/forum/topic/13123874572

Really depends on the framerate. I bet you most people will notice a difference between 35 and 24 FPS. Barely, if any, will notice a difference between 100 and 89.

This thread has really kicked off. After about 45fps I don't really notice tbh unless you get above 80, then at 80 you notice.

The i5 6600k is the best cpu for gaming atm. I cant think of one game that needs hyperthreading. Save the money and put it into a good gpu.

EDIT: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/B2YhRB Here is a quick build I put together that will be a killer rig that can handle any game on the market. I used the i7 since it seems you want the i7. The x99 platform is way overpriced for gaming IMO.

This is really wrong. These days HT will absolutely give you more performance, especially in the new games that gets released every month. Further more you even get a few more FPS if you got high speed ram these days.

Times are changing. It's unfortunate so few of you know this.

I'm still running my i5 3750k, 16gb ram with a gtx 960, which is enough for me, but that's only because I simply can't afford to put down 2k euro on a new gaming pc. With that said - it still works fine for all the games I play, so an upgrade would feel like a huge waste of money.

People are really spreading a lot of misinformation in this thread, and comparing apples to oranges. Comparing AMDs quad-module octa-core chip with Intels quad-core with HyperThreading, and labelling it all as simple cores is retarded.
And saying i5s overclock better than i7s is also pretty stupid. i5s and i7s are pretty much identical, and while it's speculation, common sense dictates better binning for i7s since they come with a higher premium. I've built over 300 computers ranging from $400 to $6.600, and I can absolutely attest to the fact that i7s overclock equal or better. You also don't state which motherboards you're using, which is a huge variable.

Someone else mentioned dual graphics, which I personally would not recommend. You become very dependent on the game developer, and the value of a single GPU, unless you're on 4K, is enough to push 45 FPS minimum in almost all games at decent to max settings.

Solid parts. Solid pieces last for a long time and will withstand new games and general wear and tear.

I'm into my 4th year (Bought in the beginning of 2013) with my PC and its still running solid, multiple WoW's on a 27inch monitor on max settings at above 85fps comfortably. I do some other stuff, but the cpu just beasts it.

CPU: i7-3770
GPU: Nvidia 660TI
32gb of 1333mz ram
And about a 700W power supply; a solid asus motherboard to compliment.

It was about $1700 in australia when I bought it all then and I'm super happy that its lasted so long and still runs everything so well (all fifa's included, CS:GO, payday). I don't really play any graphically heavy games, but ya, there we go lads.

Thank you.. I couldn't not ever be bothered to respond to such stupid post..
