Aaron86, this is the thread with all the official updates. Theres no other secret place where there are announcements

Hey guys,

i am planning to buy some new hardware to run SWTOR smooth on my pc. Actually i have two pcs in different rooms, upstairs there is a Phenom II X6 1045T, 4GB DDR 3 Ram with a Radeon HD 4870 1GB DDR5 Version and sometimes even on this configuration running the game on FULL HD 1080P sucks.

Downstairs in my partyroom there is a Athlon X2 255 (Dualcore 3,1Ghz), 4g DDR3 Ram and a GTS 250 512mb Version.

For the lower one i want to buy some new hardware (i do have a motherboard which is capable of running an AM 3+ CPU): M5A78L-MLX and the memory is ddr3 too.

So i think i just need a new cpu+cooler and a new gpu (of course i am going to buy a new power supply too)

Any ideas concerning a new cpu and gpu? Why i do post that in here, because i just want to run SWTOR.

I am thinking of a native multi-core processor

Phenom II X4 or X6, dont want to buy one of these new FX CPUs

I prefer NVIDIA over Radeon Graphics.

Thanks for your help.

This Question is probably better discussed in the official swtor forums, you will get a larger base of players using various hardware. Just add 10% cpu overhead to allow botting. But the game is primarily GPU driven. I personally would drop the 4870 into your secondary computer and buy a new 7950 or 7870 for your primary computer. And bump both machines to 8gb ram. Thats about all you need.

Thanks for your advise. As you said i went to a computer-store a few minutes ago and bought 8gb of memory for each of my computers and tada it runs smoothly on both of them now.

But i don't wanna buy such an expensive GPU like the 7870 one. What do you think of an 6850/70 ( about 110?) with a Phenom II X4 965 ( 100?) ?

I am definitely not going to buy a GPU for 300? or more :)

The 6850/70 is very good bang for the buck at the moment. It'll be EOL soon so you should get them whilst they're there.

In running the game on a g73sw best buy edition so the gpu is downgraded from a gtx 460 192 bit 1.5 gig ram to a gtx 460 128 bit 1 gig or ram and I can run everything on high except for the shadows that are on low if I was to overclocking a bit I can go high on everything CPU is a 2630qm with 8 gigs of Samsung ram

Off gamers is paying well above those rates. It's $.024101 per 1k credits.

Best of luck with you trying to sell your credits at $0.024101 per 1k credits. This is already like 66% of the price that you sell direct to an actual gold-buying player himself.

Offgamers are operated by Malaysians.
- China's Chinese Middlemen sell to them.
- They buy currency via two methods: 1) Registered Supplier 2) On the fly Buyback (the common Middlemen route)
- They have stringent verification for registered supplier (you need a bot farm and credentials) so you're stuck with option 2
- Their buying price is between 40% to 66% of the selling price (price that they sell to actual customers)
- Their server demand system is as random as a roulette and also they don't need to buy a lot from option 2 because they get their supply from option 1.

So unless you have accounts in all the 100 servers-faction-combination, you're stuck with selling to the Chinese Middlemen for a steady income. And yes, the Chinese Middlemen always rip you off, down to 5% to 10% actual selling price so that they can sell-back to places like Offgamers.

I hope it is soon. My servers about dead and im going to change to a higher pop one.
