WOW Q1 down 2.9 million subscribers, largest fall ever.

Thats the new strict bann policy.
Just i myself know about 5 other botters close who ran 50-70 bots. and a couple of medium size botters with 10-20 bots.
about a third of those i know quitted botting in this scale. so just from my arounding area they lost about 500 subscriptions.

Fight the botters=loose your income, blizzard :p

IMO Garrisons were a horrible addition to the game. While the 'oooh, wow' factor was there for the first month or so, it is long dead. Garrison dailies are simply, a chore. They are like work more than a game or fun. Additionally, the Expac is not alt friendly at all, and I, like others I know, have many alts. It is no wonder WoW is dying, and I have no doubt it is (our server has had something like 7 raiding guilds just stop raiding within the last couple of months, and a few of our guild's raiders have just stopped playing as well). How long the death will take is another question altogether. On a good note, I'm not addicted to it anymore and BF seems happy to have his GF back.
Yes, it's a chore (automated thanks to HB hehe), but I still like the whole idea. I usually do my missions manually. The people you are talking about who stop raiding/playing all together are the people who've been raiding 3-4 times a week and now farm Mythic BRF, all ilvl 700+ geared. When you play a game THAT much, there is no game developer in the world that can keep up with producing new content. No doubt WoW has become a game for the more casual player (like me), but even hardcore players do not get all followers, a lot of achievements, all quests, PvP-Gladiator titles and raid many times per week. Well, boys/girls between age 18-25 who live with their parents and have no job maybe...
I'm glad your BF has his GF "back", but that also says a lot about your inability to control your addiction :P
The fact that you are/were addicted and have spent many hours online in WoW still tells me it's a good thought-out game.

Was thinking, they banned alot accs to 6 months. So in half year, some of them will back and blizz will claim sub increase. Smart move!

The main problem is simply: Lack of content.

So some players try to generate more things to do by leveling up alts. They soon realize that it's super boring to level characters in WoW.

Imo, blizzard need to speed up content generation, mainly new raids. A raid shouldn't be out for more than 2-3 months. Imo they should make slightly smaller raids with more frequent updates. Waiting 6-7 months for the next raid (6.2 will probably be out after the summer). And then its a 13 boss raid...like why...Release a 4 boss raid now please.

And these events, extremely few people are entertained by the ingame holiday events. Show me the player that goes "hell, I gotta re-sub to wow, love is in the air event is about to start..."

And this is the problem most mmorpgs are facing. This + the fact that mmorpgs aren't that profitable compared to hearthstone or MOBA.

If you go back 5 years and say "If blizzard makes a online card game where you buy digital cards and play against opponents which you cant chat with. They will earn 2x the amount of money they earn on WoW". People would just say that you're crazy.

I keep seeing this mistake... if this is Q1 earnings, this is for October - December. Fiscal Year starts in Oct. not January. If its Jan- March then its Q2.

lol at the people "seeing the positive side" of a 3 million sub drop

i suspect these people would have been seeing the positive side as the titanic was sinking: "hey at least we get to go night swimming, don't be so doom and gloom!"

i cant wait for the new overwatch game to come out i wil be buying that aswel wow we played so long like 10 years ofcourse people get boring with the same shit over and over:) the only thing that wow keeps alive if making new expension packs and lvl up buying the new xpack

Lmao, still this 10 yr old game has 7 mill subs. and no other mmo will beat that or they have to make it.

its not fanboys or positive side thinking. I also see a lot of people quiting, a lot of high rated streamers quit as well. are bored with the game. it has been dumbed down to much, still 7 mill play it.

I blame the xpc ofc. its poorly created, another rehash of old content and its not very attracting to say the least but again, the raids are done. the high end arena players are sitting at their glad or r1 rating and cba no more. Arena season will be done within 2 months, theres noting to do.

Garrisons to me are nice addition to the game and u can make tons of gold there if u know how.

This game isnt dead, nor is it dying. Just cause so many people quit doesnt mean this game is dead.

they are done with what they wanted to do and with the current games you can chose from, it would be retarded if you played and payed a game like wow if u dont know what to do no more or nothing tickles ur pickle.

I still enjoy it, call me a fanboy then. idc

if 7/10ths of the titanic failed to sink, then you wouldnt be here using the titanic as an example.

and Chilton also stated in his interview that Garrisons would be a WoD only feature. i mean, seriously, who would keep traveling back in time to visit their garrison. since thats pretty much what we are doing when we travel from orgrimmar to warspear 5 times a day. much like panda farms, garrisons will be a fond memory 2 years from now.

demand and price for gold is all time low so i doubt this 3 mil drop is a good thing for anyone. but maybe blizzard will start working now and brings in some proper content which will keep people playing, also they could make their patches more often if they dont want to loose even more subscribers.

It genuinly feels like Blizzard has given up on WoW. I know it ain't true, but that's the feeling I get when I play it.

why does your name look so familiar dartex? did i see you earlier in the bank on illidan? maybe on a toon with xxx as the last couple letters in your name?

id say price is at an all time low because the resellers are still sitting on billions of gold from the stonecore debacle. the retail price has dropped so low, because they cant get rid of it fast enough. on top of that, you still have many people dumping gold at an alarming rate @ .10usd per k. resellers keep buying it because hell, who wouldnt at .1usd, right? if they are buying at .1usd, they can still make wonderful profit selling for .4usd ingame. but they just arent selling enough to kill that surplus.

Agreed, though I was never into Garrisons. I do my "daily chores" as I like to call them, and I let that be that. I've tried introducing my boyfriend to WoW in the last few months, and he's just not feeling it (and I honestly cannot blame him). We've been spending much more time repping 1999 EverQuest than WoW. Even if the graphics are crap, it's at least mildly entertaining with much more content than WoW has atm.

there is a gold buyer i with a name like that i think

i thought so. i was in voh transferring a guild ownership and he puts 9990 in the trade window and then cancels. ofc i troll him a bit. well he must have not liked it cause he runs over to the guild vault and comes back with 991k. sticks it in the window and laughs. i responded with 'keep working at it buddy, you will get there eventually' had a good laugh and flew away

Im selling/buying gold, indeed :) That wasn't me though you're talkign about, Frosticus, i would renember something like that ^^ I hardly ever keep gold in guild banks, i only work on demand always :P

it's a small world :) back to the topic - demand seems to be much better on EU, not sure why but US seems even worse than EU demand and price was for now : /
