Why is there no donation button? Or other methods for gathering money being explored?

However on the topic that bossland was not aware that he would need to pay such a huge amount in such a short time. My opinion is that he should be prepared for such a event if it comes.
That's true, and he usually is.
The only difference here is usually Blizzard hits Bossland with 1-2 lawsuits. With this current case, it's 14 lawsuits all at once on top of two criminal charges that Blizzard filed in 2013 and 2016.
Blizzard is doing absolutely everything they can to completely bankrupt the business, and they're also spending a ton of money to do it.

I see no reason for a donation button not to exist and to be put today or tomorrow. It cost nothing its easy to make and i think that you may be underestimating the willingness of people to help if they are reminded monthly
with a report what is going on the legal side of things and to consider helping. A little sympathy goes a long way i believe. And even if it just 100 euro collected per month in 12 months it is still 12 000 euro.
Could be something that's done. I'll speak with the HQ chat to see their view of it.
As long as there's no legal implications of taking donations, I don't see why one wouldn't be added. :)

As for merchandise they don't need to compete for the lowest price as I/we (hope that more people think like me) don't mind spending couple of extra euros to get the wasp. I actually want a white cup and the wasp on it to drink tea and i rally need a new mouse pad. And by reading the comments some people don't mind buying and walking around with a t-shirt.
I'll also push this to the HQ chat. Someone else mentioned here that there's ways of going about getting products without spending as much.
Perhaps I'll link the Reddit post they provided as well.

Thing is hope Bossland start to prepare from now in case he needs more money in the future and if such a time does not come and he win every single court case i hope there is a day that he will surprise us with something nice with all the gathered fund.
Bossland seems to be fairly active in the Honorbuddy Discord right now.
If you ever want to push something directly to him, that'd be the easiest way to.
At the posting of this reply, he's active right now.

Eitherway whatever happens, i really appreciate the work you've put in over the years with your profiles. Amazing work and thanks a lot.
Thanks. ^^
It's nice hearing some positivity now and then.

Nice 6 month old screenshot, even i got the client and can show that.
Well, it's not 6months old. I wouldn't have bothered digging up a 6month old screenshot just to make a post.
I took it when the post was made.

Right now, Devs get 3 waypoints together, call that a profile and try to milk the dead cow at the BuddyStore. Greed has taken over, and it should be gone for the good of the company. Sad that they can't realize that.
This is so true that it's sad.
I've seen hundreds of profiles make it through approval that are nothing but Honorbuddy-generated hotspots.

We've realized it since day 1, and we've gotten on to the community developers for it multiple times.
But of course, there's no rules saying they can't do it. At least not as of yet.

There's always the monthly subscription. ;P

The issue here is that: when Bossland made the announcement that lifetime keys were no longer being supported, it was 1day before the announcement that the court said that he must pay a huge amount of money.
The first payment is expected in 1week.

It was either shut down Honorbuddy, or do something that can earn a bunch of money quick.
And of course the only thing that can earn a bunch of money quick would be to end lifetime keys since they have caused a hemorrhage in the bots overall funds since 2014.

If he had known ahead of time, (like a month) then perhaps things would have been handled much differently. Perhaps a donation drive would have been hosted.
But I can't say so for myself. I'm just a contractor who provides free stuff for the community. :) I have no role in making these decisions as I prefer not to be the guy who does.

Bossland perhaps now has regrets about lifetime, may he sold it not thinking that the bot will last that long. But people bought it on that promise, its a contract of sale.

So clearly in more recent years he has been thinking that he'd like to get those users on subscription, all of a sudden a court says he needs to pay and he decides its not him that needs to pay, its those damn horrible lifetime users? If you go back on your word with someone and then demand more money in the same sentence realistically what percentage of those lifetime members did he think were going to rebuy to magically give this influx of cash.

They need to sell something of value and ask people to buy it, not punish existing customers because of what turned out to be a poor decision a few years ago.

I've said in another thread that I would actually suggest putting a new version of lifetime on sale that represents good value, it could be 1 session for the price of 3 years normal. Yes in 3 years that might feel painful but remember its to get out of a pinch NOW so you are trading with your users with a tactical option in an honest fashion that those users can respect and do so knowing they will both be supporting bossland and getting something back in exchange, rather than just getting screwed over because bossland got a big bill.

It doesnt have to be 'lifetime' perhaps sell a 4yr key for the price of 2yrs, 'sale' item. Since you are timing keys based on their activation date even someone who has 11 months on their current key can buy it now and then start using when their current key expires.

There are choices here, not just the only two choices you have put forward. I find it concerning that this is being used as an excuse to do away with something that is now viewed as a mistake and the punishment is being transferred directly to the lifetime users

I don't think that a lot of people would want T-shirts that yell out "look at me im a botter!"

Why not? Wouldn't it be cool to walk down the city and see people wearing that shirt, and go like WATSAAAAAAAAP BRO? I think it would be hilarious xD

I agree that the store has become toxic with greed. I personally no longer play WoW (only ffxiv) so it doesn't bug me as much as all paid things are third party for rebornbuddy and pretty fair... But it sucks for those who play still WoW and want quality products.

I think it sucks that lifetime is no longer lifetime, it isn't fair to the people who bought into it. (Including myself) even though I don't use it anymore. I'm not saying I know of a better way but it just sucks. Maybe expand into different games?
POGO seems like it is still pulling in money, why not redirect all the devs from dead bots onto a popular phone game? Usually phone game users are use to just paying for everything, they'd prob be a good market to get into imo. Just off the top of my head: Summoners war, any clash of clans game, game of war, and a few others. Plus phone games are not that complex so I'd imagine the dev time would be cut by 70% or more.

Though that isn't a quick fix for cash I suppose. Also: I read your earlier posts too, and I hate to say that I never donated to you. But I really, really appreciate ALL of the hard work you've put into your profiles. I've used them a fair bit myself back in the day. So, thank you!

We've had people submit pictures of them wearing Honorbuddy shirts to BlizzCons in the past.
That's always fun. xD

That is unfortunately a double edged sword, there is something to be said for not having all your eggs in one basket. It wouldn't be good for a company to be entirely dependant on one game for its income as any bad month on that one game would put them at risk unless they were hedging themselves with funds to cover for a long period.

On the other hand wow is the biggest game, I cant imagine some of the other bots come even close to the numbers. If you have just as much upkeep to continually patch a bot for another game and yet it has 5% of the user base then it would be more of a drain than being worthwhile. And its reasonable for those bots to be shuttered, I would say perhaps consider selling those projects on to smaller teams more focused on those games. There is probably some work however to remove code specific to bossland stuff so they dont expose their services and also some risk they give away anti-detection secrets if they did that.

Which will earn him a jail sentence from the judge if he follow's suit with this current demand and breach of contract.

I guarantee that, contact the judge and explain the breach to him and Bossland's letter to the community.

Donations would be perfectly legal, but they also need to be willful donations and no threats made in order to receive a donation. If you threaten in order to receive anything of monetary value (money, property), that's 1) extortion, 2) criminal, plus this breach of contract could possibly follow very closely to extortion. Also if you offer merchandise with the donation then you must abide by that. However, I'm sure Germany handles donations as taxable income, but unsure of percentage.

But... apparently you kids think this is all a joke. You certainly wouldn't be laughing when reality kicks in and locked up behind bars.

Regarding the breach, Bossland stated that they lifetimes keys were for version 2 of HB. By his word we can still log in with the lifetimes keys in version 2, but there are no private servers for them and they don't work with Legion.

However current version is 3.

Don't know how well this is gonna held up in court though.

Saw in an article that Bossland defended himself saying the following;

Bossland justify this by saying ‘lifetime’ licences have always expired whenever their bots are updated to a new version, and have only been maintained out of courtesy. German fan site Mein-MMO quotes them saying:

"The Lifetime Keys are always based on the corresponding Honorbuddy version, just because no one sees it, it does not mean that it is not a new product."

I call complete bullshit on that though. We didn't buy lifetime for HB2, we bought lifetime for HB, no matter what version they end up on.

I kind of agree on this, the sale page even now says buy Honorbuddy not Honorbuddy version 3 patch XXXXX

However back on topic... all ideas to keep the company afloat without directly shafting the user are welcome

"Hey we're gonna set up a GoFundMe to help pay for the lawyers so we can keep the company running. If we don't reach our goal we'll probably have to revoke lifetime licenses to make up the costs."

Holy fucking shit, how hard was that?

There are people with a lot more need on that platform, to be discovered by users of GoFundMe than we as a company are.

A company has to make sure it knows its expenses and income. I would not missuse GoFundMe for a company matter

Thank you for responding personally.

What are your thought on donation button, ads on the forums and opening a merchandise store in the manner that Ihacknewbies advised?

Why touch the goods yourself?

Simply make designs and let others do the rest.

something along the lines of

How I Make $100 a day creating shirt designs on Amazon (Guide) : beermoney

no overhead, no effort, no risk.

I'm confused, I the last I saw was that there was a ruling that seemed to be in Bossland's favor. What happened in the mean time that has caused him to pay money so soon?

Set it up..me and the wife would donate to keep something we love and cherish up and running. Would it make sense to run a Poll to see just how many people would donate? Just a thought.

Same here. My family is a huge Warcraft family but not everyone likes the grind. Especially the younger ones. Honorbuddy is just as popular at my house as Blizzard.

We use honorbuddy and level up alts for them to play. As well as collect all the pets/transmogs/mounts/heirlooms/toys for the whole family.

Put us down for 4 t-shirts and 2 of everything else.

Well I do sort of donate, £24 per year, worth it really, either that or the company runs out of money and goes bump.

Considering other wow based services you can pay for

Zygor Guides want like $7.99 per month!!
Askmrrobot charge $12 per year

What we get for for that annual amount isn't that bad. tbh I've always wondered about "Lifetime" memberships, hardly seem worth it business plan wise, small amount per year would have been better, even if heavily discounted at the start of Honorbuddy.
