I am actually doing well with two toons.
One with herb and scribe and another with mining and engineering.

I dont bot for more than 12 hours a day and i dont sell any herbs/ores in the AH whatsoever.

Wheel in 5k gold/day on one toon just mining...if you have a high pop. server your only option is to pretty much farm the rare pets since everyone is focused on basic materials, unless you have connections/control the AH. Supply and demand. Only sell items that are in demand, and that will always be needed(herbs,ore,glyphs,jewels).

It's really hard to say.

It all comes down to the realm itself with the professions and classes that dominates the server.

lots of Blacksmiths and warriors require lots of Elementium for example.

It's very different from realm to realm. But in my opinion the best way is still the one that requires the least user interaction. In my case that means I've got a miner/herber, a skinner/engineer and a fisher. All three send their stuff to my AH dude, whom I log about twice daily to put a lot of stuff up for 12-hour auctions. Most sells in that time, netting me about 10-15k gold per day.

A poll really dont work for this question. Different people have different results. It depends on server/faction/population. On one server I make most my money through Saronite/Cobalt while on the other, those two arnt worth shit.

i can only find chinese gold buyers which get your accounts banned

I'm usually botting twice a day (Herb & Mining).
Once done I sell all the herbs as I don't have Alchemy yet but I let the bot prospect down all the ore and then I sell most of the gems uncut.
This grant me about 5 k gold each day.

Honestly I'm to lazy to do any more work then just sell raw mats and i managed to get 3 regular buyers in a hour. I make about 3k a day do so. But mining definitely is 80% of my profit.

There is one formula that no one has yet to mention. It takes a miner, BS and a enchanter for DE. Have fun. I have over 400k from this technique alone.

I found out sniping neutral AH makes a shitload of gold, so thats what Im doing. Buying FL Boes for 1copper and selling them for profit etc
