VMware

Hi all,

I have it running reasonably more stable now.

I switched back to Workstation 10.0.1.

On the VM:
- Only install VM Tools components that I need; disable PC2 and USB mouse drivers, disable audio drivers
- Adjust windows 7 for max performance in Advanced System Settings; set pagefile to constant

On the host:
- Workstation: Load entire VM memory into physical memory
- VM files now on second SSD
- Archeage: disable multithreaded rendering

It no longer crashes on its own. It still crashes IF I send a lot of simultaneous KB/mouse commands. Like circle strafing. Do not overlap KB or mouse presses and it stays running. I can minimize Archeage window on VM to conserve CPU power, but this might(?) cause disconnect.

EDIT: Nevermind just had a crash. The experiment continues.

ok so i managed to start the game in VM , but after i select the server , the game is loading for some time with blakc screen and then crash to desctop , anyone know any solution to this ?

I am running into the same issue with my VM locking up after 15 seconds in game. I have modified the config file and the registry so I could get past hackshield. I noticed that in the 15 seconds that I can "play", the mouse is EXTREMELY wonky when I try to mouse look. I have VMware Tools installed so I didn't think that would be the problem.

My rig should be more than fine. GTX 770, 12gb memory, and an i-7 processor. I am only assigning the VM 4gb and 2 cores when other people say they can get their AA to run on a VM with 2gb and 1 core. Any ideas?

Oh yeah first time i was like wooooow settle down mouse. If by wonky you mean without any resistance turning around full speed for no apparent reason :D

Edit: The fix mentioned earlier works for me, however AB worked once, then I started AA on my host system and then the VM crashed ( was running perfectly until then ). I tried everything, but AB will not start the game properly anymore. As soon as the load finishes the game crashes. I know it is AB, because without it I can just start AA in the Guest OS. No plugins can even run at that point.

Has anyone tried to make this work using Windows XP on the VM?(as host) (uses a lot less resources than Win7 in all regards)
Have they managed to make it work?

You cant use win XP. Win xp and .net 4.5.1 incompatible

Wow that was fast. Thanks so much. Been digging on this to work for +24h of active work time. Not to mention that for the first 14-15h I couldn't even get the game installed on VMware (4GB RAM, 2 cores) ... 30' download ... 1h verifying it's not corrupted (failed 3 times) ... 1h decompressing (failed 2 times - stuck and not going further) .... 1h applying (actually installing - even here stuck 3 times ... after all those hours waiting, at 80% first time, 20% second and 35% last time)

I gave up on trying to install ArcheAge on the virtual machine. Even on the main machine it got stuck one time after 1.5h (corrupted -_-)
Succeeded by manually transferring each file from the main machine to the virtual one, exactly where it should be.

Have tried tens and tens of .vmx configs / registry descriptions combinations & all you guys said .. nothing worked. Time to move to Win7.

Managed to run this on a VM with the tips posted from multiple replies, thanks for that.
It's far from lagfree, but luckily AB can play better with low framerate than us in most cases :)
Got to level 15 after a few restarts of the guestOS, I won't be running an empire of toons in different WM's anytime soon that's for sure :p

Never seen that, but I upped mine to 4GB RAM and I saw an increase in performance.

You guys notice they updated the hackshield which now detects vmware? anyone found fix?

I'm currently searching registry and doing fixes to see, if this works ill post updates.

Had, monitor_control.restrict_backdoor = "TRUE"

isolation.tools.setPtrLocation.disable = "TRUE"
isolation.tools.setVersion.disable = "TRUE"
isolation.tools.getVersion.disable = "TRUE"
monitor_control.disable_directexec = "FALSE"

Which does not work now, I changed DirectExec back to true loads up as normal but super slow mode again, but does bypass Thermida.

Hmmm, I'm using Windows 7, I noticed you're using windows 8. Anyone else getting detected with W7?

Oh and uh, I can get mine to bypass using directexec = true however it lags so much that it takes to long to get passed the Server select then Disconnects / timeout because of connection. Is there a fix for that? Maybe I'll give windows 8 a go.

Hmm, Still having issues with current patch. Has anyone tried using Hyper-V to see if its detected using that? Might get better performance since it utilizes GPU i heard.
