The concern I would have with that, is a potential false flag against the accounts, when Niantic forces an update typically the old ones stop working but since they are trying to catch botters too, I would just update it and sit tight to wait for the new fixes of the bots and use the new updates on legit accounts the minute the new updates go live.
 
This issue and the question is nothing new. In fact it's like a deja vu, and I am suspecting that as long as Pokefarmer developers are motivated to RE the API (since it seems like Niantic will not stop force updating API), this will happen again. So I will be repeating the advise that I gave over a month ago, except for step 3, we are not there yet. And this time, definitely calmer. Just replace API .35 with .45, and .39 with .47.

@Square omg i just read your analogies, and i LOVE the passport reference! It made me giggle so hard. I think you and I are on the same page, there may be some misunderstanding as what each of us are saying, but at the end of the day we both are optimistic about it being fixed and we both understand there is alot of work going into it :D Its great to meet a like minded individual who wants to try to help set the record straight and keep some calmness during these times ^_^
 
We need to consider that Niantic is beating the bot devs technically. Consider the time it takes to reverse the existing API, then consider the frequency which Niantic has changed it. Clearly what the bot devs are doing now is not sustainable.

The developers are at disadvantage. They have to wait for Niantic to implement the new security before developers can start deciphering. Niantic can be planning and designing several simultaneous security versions of APIs and systematically apply them one after the other regardless if the developers are able to resolve problems.

I would politely have to disagree with you. It is rare that the bot creators or "hackers" of any group has the inside knowledge of a security update before it happens, meaning by your definition all of them are at a non sustainable disadvantage... But keep this in mind, its a cat and mouse game, there will be downtimes, but there is only so much that can be changed in a timeframe, and eventually if niantic keeps going on their witch hunts they will banwave a large group of innocent players and suffer the losses, chargebacks again and the loss of public faith if they can't get their crap in order... Remember the value of them is based solely on what they do, not if Bossland keeps making bots... Eventually they will slow down, there are just alot of release projects on the go over the next little bit. Chin up and have faith friend.

The problem with the thread is that the originator, CAcove became a staff of PF discord, which made his present and future advices and announcements "Unofficially Official". I don't know if I will congratulate you or wish you luck, but in your eagerness to help other clients, you also allowed yourself to get trapped into that position, you really need to abide by their rule, and minimize those "I think" and "In my point of view" etc... because you now represent the PF staff, and you now speak on their behalf. I hope that you don't have any aspiration to become a moderator here. You have provided more advice in an Unofficial capacity than most moderators do.

I am not bound by those rules and I don't represent PF staff, so my posts will always be non official, and free to post "unofficial" announcements and other posts.

This forum is just as public or as private as the discord announcement section is . It is owned and moderated by PF. In fact, 99.99% of the members here are paying PF clients, and have more right to know, while there are many discord members that are not even customers of PF. Anyone can go to discord and read the posts, while one needs an account and password to get here. Most of the folks here and reading this are stake holders of PF.

Mew2, I am not new to this. The link that you gave USED TO be a good source of RE effort when Waryas of FPM was till very much active, but not now when Hatching of PF is pretty much in charge. That was my source for my daily update last time. Those links are basically useless for right now.

For fellow PF loyal clients who are excited to hear updates, heed Hatching's warning, as this shouldn't go out to public. Niantic can easily negate all the efforts anytime. But between discord members, and PF Forum members, I think you deserve more information than them. Some of you have other priorities and came here for quick information and status update, some of those people in discord have plenty of time to spare and go there to chat.

There is no ETA. He has not given any estimated time for product delivery. This is a status update, a progress update, and this is what every clients not on discord have been asking for. ETA can only be estimated once product update is in full swing, and he has not even started any product update yet. They haven't hacked the API yet.

here's one cut and paste from my other post:

"In my assumption, when there is a minor update, each competing bot and map owners do their own update. And it normally only takes days, sometimes less. But when a major update such as this, these bot and map owners go back to their community of developers and tackle the problem together. They may not support each other’s businesses, Waryas for example is the lead developer of FastPokeMap, and Hatchingegg is the lead developer for PF, yet they worked together to hack the API. That’s is Phase one. While in progress, no update is being done to their own products since it is pointless to update something when they know that it is not going to work without the hacked API. That is why none of the bot and map owners can give an ETA to their clients is because they don’t know when they can hack it, as each one of them are given piece of the pie to work on. No ETA on API means zero ETA on their own respective products.

Once successful, they can finally move on to phase two, which is incorporating the hacked API to their own products and updating their own product starts, maps, trackers, bots, etc… That is the only time that they can give an ETA to their customer. This is what most common clients think we are at right now.

Phase three is beta testing

Phase four is delivery to customer.

They are not even halfway in phase one yet, that’s why I said they haven’t touched Pokefarmer yet. It’s pointless to update Pokefarmer without a hacked API, it will not work


As for the hype, there is nothing wrong with that. You advertise your product to get prospective client's attention, and you give them something to get excited about to keep them interested and their trust and hope going.

Anyway, I don't want to ambush the topic and divert this to something else, this is not my thread and with respect to the person who started this. I believe his intent was to keep this an update thread for customers, not a thread to argue, so if there are any other updates, please post your own. You and I can start a different thread for us to exchange logics and reasons.

Well written CAcove and completely agree.

Frustrating the bot not working, but at the end of the day we are all cheating when using Pokefarmer so none of us are really in a position to whine.

Your licence time is refunded so agree none of us have anything to complain about.

Just be patient and wait for devs to do their thing
 
People say Niantic is going to release a new update in the next two days in order to accommodate for the starbucks event. So, perhaps the developer is waiting to see what update is going to bring before advancing any further in RE the hatch. Remember that Niantic is not only changing the way they are encrypting their login screens, but they are also placing a lot of infrastructure for Generation 2 pokemons.

Pokémon GO is in the process of being updated to version 0.49.1 for Android and 1.19.1 for iOS devices. Below are some release notes and comments from our development team.

  • Trainers will be able to transfer multiple Pokémon at a time to Professor Willow. To use this function, press and hold on a Pokémon.
  • Pokémon type icons have been added to the Gym battle approach and Gym battle screen.
  • The total Candy count for your Buddy Pokémon has been added to the buddy information screen.
  • The total kilometers a buddy has walked has been added to the information screen of each Pokémon that has ever been your buddy.
  • Minor text fixes.

As I stated and still believe, the game clients and/or the API will change faster than we will be able to reverse them. What we are doing is clearly not sustainable.
