i think his statement might have been directed at the notion that a botter is taking the place of a lesser skilled player in the raid.
and somehow, that's not fair to the lesser skilled player.
what about the other 19 players in the raid who would rather have a botter that is rocking than carrying a bad. what about their feelings. isnt that what this is really about? choosing to please 19 players rather than putting that bad on a pedestal, where they might start believing they deserve a spot in the raid, just because they aren't botting?
choosing not to bot doesn't make a bad player noble, it just gives them a false sense of entitlement.
I'm not sure If I understand your point, Frosticus.
A botter is taking the place of a lesser skilled player---> less skill than what, the bot?
the other 19 players in the raid who would rather have a botter that is rocking than carrying a bad----->Do they, should they know it is a bot?Honestly, don't think so. I always loved the competitive aspect of dps classes in raids. Bots, when used to their best, destroy it. Just like in PVP, I would rather compete with other people. I already have the bosses and trash for AI, I don't need my teammates doing that too.
Choosing not to bot doesn't make a bad player noble, it just gives them a false sense of entitlement---> what about a good player? If a CR is good enough, it should outdps almost any player in most encounters. If it does not, probably the bot user is the one to blame, they should tune their routine better for that fight.
I can see a point in time, if botting is still allowed in pve content too, where if you wanna join a top X guild, you'll need to be able to use X bot as a requirement. To improve your performance.Last time I hardcore raided, it was already happening, not exactly with CR's, but with another sort of technically ilicit program that allowed you to NEVER miss a proc. If you wanted to perform at 100%, you needed it. It was only a matter of time for that to happen with Cr's.
EDIT: My point being, what happened to Arena will happen to PvE raids too. Competitive aspect exist there as strongly as in arenas too. When the PvE reports get too loud,Blizz will probably need to do another massive banwave, and then Hb will have to shut down raids.
Whinners do whine, and when they can't cry about arena, they'll cry about raids. At least that's what I think.
