There is always going to be money to be made in this game, though it will get harder to sell items until new items/content comes out. Item sales has definitely slowed down the past 2 weeks, but does not mean that the game is dead, or its too late to start. You will make your money back and eventually start to profit as long as you are not banned within the first 1-3 weeks IMO. Also you need to know RNG and plain old luck plays a huge factor on the items you will find and sell.
So I had 5 accounts banned on OCT 30th, 3 of those accounts made it 3+ months, and the other 2 were only a week old (bad timing for new bots on my part). I still profited a TON, even after spending $300 to start 5 new bots. I have been running my new bots for almost a week and have made nearly half of the startup back already, and in just a few more days I hope to be profiting again. So in the end I've been through 2 rounds of bans, but always came back and profited more than before so far.
Just make sure your botting setup is efficient as possible (i.e.- computer, DB, profiles, plugins, and class/build/items. Off-course many times some problems are going to be out of your control, just got to learn to deal with it then and try to be patient until its fixed ehhrrm... /cough.. Auth servers.
What I noticed is people start to slack off on botting, and become lazy, then complain they're not making money (i.e.- botting 1-3 days a week doesn't cut it, or maybe something starts malfunctioning and you rage quit botting for a week, or sales slow down and then you think there is no point in botting D3 anymore). In order to make decent profit, you need to keep your bots going 24/7, or as long as possible. No breaks unless you have to.
WTH are you waiting for, start botting now.
Just do it.
