Yes have all star except 2. They are 1 step higher. Put one in wep, 1 in chest. They will be first to upgrade as go. I converted all gems had on hand.

Haven't done math yet. Not sure how much save if make own gems over buying off ah. I know stars avg 600k each.

Just buy the gems over the AH which is cheaper, don't do the crafting yourself unless you know the *ahem ahem* method.

Btw, I'm curious, why does the "Wall of Light (566% dmg)" rune never ever hits anything as compared to the "Explosive Light (430% dmg)" rune?

Wave of Light:

The functionality and cost of this skill seems disproportionate with it's effect. You can't use it while punching. You can't chose location beyond the direction in which to execute the spell and it costs half your spirit bar. The Area of effect is far too narrow it's effect is far from desirable.
You're rooted/stunned for the duration of the animation which will kill you.

Thoughts no the runes:

Wall of Light has the same inherit problems as the baseline skill, it deals more dmg but the way it deals dmg is limited by not being able to be cast while punching and the targeting issues.

Explosive Light is the most interesting of all the runes, it addresses the issue of the very limited area of effect but at the same time comes with it's own area of effect issues: It only hits 8 directions leaving most of the screen still unaffected by using the ability. This should be a full 360 nova, maybe without the knockback.

Empowered Light has the same problems as baseline skill and the added efficiency only adds 1 extra use at a full spirit bar. This rune could make the skill free to use but add a cooldown and it would all of a sudden be interesting (ignoring all the inherit problems with the baseline skill).

Blinding Light has all the inherit problems and on live servers it has no use because the stun doesn't do anything, in 1.05 the stun will have some use and might be an option once all the inherit problems of the skill is solved.

Pillar of the Ancients. This ability comes with reduced dmg on the initial hit and 2 seconds (two seconds is forever in a fast paced game like d3) later it will explode for the same reduced dmg to make the overall dmg slightly more than the baseline skill, still not more than Wall of Light. This feels untested and I've not managed to get it to work. At best you will get around the same dmg as Wall of Light, in most cases however, you will just get the initial 280% weapon dmg and the fused dmg never hits much. Maybe if the initial hit rooted effected enemies for the duration of the "fuse" it would have some potential.

Good job quoting unofficial sources. I was wrong about the armor (had to search myself on that for something more credible as the topic itself never mentions anything about it reducing elemental damage).

And ALL mobs in act 3 are level 63 you nit wit. Again with the quoting of some random dude. I could quote random people as well, and I can assure you the vast majority agree that all mobs in A3 are level 63. Find an official source. So then, care to explain the rest of your crap?

"With the change that allows item affixes to roll at the monster's level instead of the item?s levels, all items in Inferno at MP 1 or greater now have the ability to roll level 63 affixes."

For example:
- In MP0, an ilvl 62 item dropped from a Level 63 monster will not roll (0% chance) ilvl 63 affixes.
- In MP1, an ilvl58 item dropped from a Level 63 monster will now roll at the monster's level and have a chance to roll ilvl 63 affixes.

So that makes you wrong and rude.

Affixes on items will now roll their level based on the level of the monster killed rather than the item's level (this applies to all items including random affixes on Legendary and set items)

Inferno Difficulty with No Monster Power (aka MP 0):

Act I = Monsters are level 61
Act II = Monsters are level 62
Act III = Monsters are level 63
Act IV = Monsters are level 63

As soon as you set Monster Power to MP1 or higher, all monsters will become level 63 (in all Acts) and they?ll all share the same item drop tables and drop rates. You can find even more information here: Monster Power: More Guts, More Glory - Diablo III

Explain, really I need to hear this. On MP0, why can't an ilvl 62 item dropped from a level 63 mob not be able to roll lvl 63 affix? Do you not even understand what you're quoting? The reason why it is mentioned that "...all items in Inferno at MP 1 or greater..." is because it will raise all monster's level to 63 in the entirety of Inferno, covering Act 1 and Act 2, which doesn't matter to Act 3 as tesslerc has pointed out, all mobs in Act 3 are level 63 on MP0.

Honestly I don't know how else to simplify this. I have no idea how else to drill it into your head. Do you understand now that you're wrong? Just say you have problems with reading comprehension, it is totally understandable.

- Affixes are based on level of monster, NOT monster power, NOT item level.
- Act 3 monsters are ALL level 63 on MP0.
- Act 3 monsters on MP0 CAN get items with level 63 affixes.

Love this build right now. I'm running it with no LaK, but monsters die so fast that gloves litter the ground anyway.

Can't wait to improve upon the equipment I've currently got.

It's already faster than my plvl 68 barb too lol.

I'm making plenty of gold by sniping up and then reselling those Skorns with at least 1.2k DPS, 200+ Dex, 2k Life after Kill, 140% Crit Dmg.
 
very good build, I have 4 sprits/s to spam WoL and after 10h I get:

Noticed that Unlike "Explosive Light", "Empowered Wave" seems hit only 1 out of 4 mobs in a pack with greatly reduced dmg.

most of the times it hits more than one and it costs only 40 spirit, tbh i havent tried explosive light but it feels like 2x empowered wave would win every time
 
Ok so i did buy all the items somone listed but i get :

buffed : 70k dmg
ar : only 450
crit chance : 24%
crit dmg : +310%
atk speed : 1.43
life per kill : 5000

And still ACT 3 mp0 gives me 5-8deaths / per hour.

Not sure what can i upgrade with "low cost" to change it.
Already spend 20m on this char :)

Any advice, i know about ress should be 600-800 ( arround ) to survive some dmg but still it would mass lover my dmg.

I play on EU so the eq is alot more gold to buy.

The weapon did cost 5000gold :/

u need to somehow boost your AR or your DPS to above 90k to compensate for lower def... cos my monk has slightly higher AR (500+) and it helps in bring the dph down to 2. What's your HP and armor?

That's weird, i geared my monk by using the stats of those items (calculating totals of course and compensating stats in an item if i bought a previous item with lower stats). My monk was in line with the stats mentioned and has 78k dps unbuffed and close to 90k with breath of heaven. 0.7 dph in act3 mp0 running 12 hours.

i suggest to edit ur post with the items listed since it helps a lot to ppl like many that never had monks be4.
luckily i saw u posted in the 6th page, but i wont be surprised if there r lazy ppl that missed it ;)
also it seems like prices have went up a lil bit since uve made this guide, to get same items as u wud probably cost around 40m.
