It has to be inside of GrindArea

for some reason, the dev forum doesn't support tags. weird

well i was looking at the wiki and it showed i guess global blackspots under avoid mob in quest profiles, so i guess mu question is do you also have to define blackspots for quest overides if it's on way to a hotspot for a pickp item or such?
also thanks for the help

i have tryed a sample in a grindarea and it seems to not be reading blackspots for some reason

Blackspots don't literially black out the zone. They make it "less desirable" If the bot finds it a hassle to go around it then it just goes through it no matter what.

If you want to strictly enforce the area is blacklisted post many blackspots there.

More information is here.

This is not true. <Blackspots> lists can be located within a <HBProfile> or <SubProfile>. If located in a <SubProfile>, they replace--not supplement--any <Blackspots> list in an outer <HBProfile> or <SubProfile>.

Conversely, I can find no documentation that indicates <Blackspots> within a <GrindArea> are acted on by Honorbuddy. I'll try to catch Apoc on this and update the Wiki soon if they are.

Your understanding is correct. A <Blackspots> list in the HBProfile proper is 'global', but can be replaced via a <Blackspots> list in <SubProfile>, as stated above.

Liferose is right on the money with this one.

As a general rule of thumb, think of a blackspot as making the area less desirable by a factor of 30. In other words, Honorbuddy prefers to run 30 yards down a road, as it does to run 1 yard through a blackspot.

In short, a Blackspot does not make the area 'off limits'--just less desirable.

Alas, doubling-up blackspots on top of each other does not work as some might think.

Blackspots do not 'overlap', they just define an area that should be blackspotted. Either an area is blackspotted, or it is not. There is no concept of one area being 'more blackspotted' than another.

One last thing...
Failure to honor blackspots is frequently a problem with the navigation mesh for the area. The mesh might only allow (say) two paths through the area, and both of them go through the area you've blackspotted. Thus, Honorbuddy has no choice but to traipse through your blackspot.

If you can determine this to be the case, you should open an issue in Bugtracker, and provide map coordinates and a screenshot as attachments. Each time we isolate a problem due to such navigation issues and report the bug, you help every profile writer and Honorbuddy user. Since the world was just recently remeshed in total, there are probably a lot of areas with such mesh problems again.

Hope this clears things up. We've all experienced problems with our Blackspots being ignored. :D

cheers,
CJ

Thanks for all the info CJ, only issue i was having was with the new layout of the DarkMoon Farie seems as HB wants to run through one of the carts it seems like it is going to go around then make a break for it, i have tried blackspots in different places, multiple blackspots like Liferose suggested, to no avail, guess HB is being stubborn lol, but again i appreciate your help

@chinajade -- I always used them outside, then someone told me they had to be inside of it, so i've been doing it like that ever since, and it makes the code cleaner, that way you don't have to "guess" where the blackspots go to

Blackspots are working for me, but I do put them inside the subprofile tags......I even use them to force a toon to take a certain route in a profile.....say there are two caves leading in and out of a zone....put a blackspot on one and it forces the bot to use the other. Similar situation, you can use them to force a toon to take a different route around a zone ya wanna bypass.....
