Profiles are 100% unique depending on your Level, Class and Location. The chance for 2 making the same grind profile at once is ultra slim.

Sorry I probably didn't explain the concept very well I understood that each profile will be unique so each user will have a different profile - the reason I suggested an expiry was so that the one bot farmed different suitable areas to prevent any observer of the bot thinking it was a bot. i.e. the bot would farm different area's of the same-grinding area.

A rather simplified example might be that the bot starts grinding in north west barrens and after a certain time period stops runs to north east barrens and continues. If someone were to watch the bot stop grindiing and head across the map and start again they would perhas assume it was working on a quest rather than simply grinding.

Soon?

I expect an public-alpha within a few days.

The main time pressure is having to record all NPC's ingame. Which I'm doing this evening, but there are ~ 80 zones i have to collect data from and i use approx 5 minutes per zone (which is six and a half hour if there were no traveling time). And thats very close to the limit. If i fly too fast through a zone HB will not be able to catch all the objects as they are not loaded in the game fast enough.

Nice idea although I would think doing this but then for quests would be make for a more useful application but then it would be a lot more complicated sins you have to keep track of which quests will need to be completed before you can do x quest etc Someone started this but didn't finish it to bad. But Having a quest database whit people being able to rank quest submitted by other players that would be awesome. It's a suggestion and maybe something to think about

An idea would be, so we don't get same profiles repeated, to make a option to rate the profile you are using so that you could cycle between the best rated ones like a top three. Then if a new profile came out, you'd be asked to use that. Just an idea really though, might be one for the future.

Small update.

Plugin to record NPC's are doing its job. So I'm now able to collect NPC's in a manner making it
possible to ensure i don't mix up duplicate scans. This is actually the most ciritical part of this project,
i mess this up and the entire project would fail.

I rewrote the entire script that made the profiles, i am now able to manipulate the entire scan
without having to multiple database queries. Which makes the profile generator quick!

Profile generation is turning out nicely, a average hotspot within a 500 Unit radius will at average
make a grind profile with approx 5 - 6 hotspots. Which is a perfect number i think!

My vote: You have to do something about how to obtain profiles.

Why: First off this is a great idea! However there should be a way to randomize the quests completion order or something. I'm afraid it would make it much easier to get caught/ban waves if not.
The plugin would have new toons starting out at same place, doing the same quests, in the same order, in the same paths. Where as now a toon might be using billy's profile, or sally's, or john's... Adding variety to the bots movements.

If this plugin would parse multiple profiles and then group the quests by lvl/zone/whatever and then randomize the order of completion then this would be ideal IMO. Not to mention cut down on the topics about botters reporting botters.

Just my 2cents, sorry if somebody already made a suggestion like this but I'm not reading everyones perspective in order to base my own. :)

Sandleworld this is 100% for grind profiles, and this project will no longer use profiles found on the forum. However i have some ideas how i could use some of its data, as I'm trying to come up with ways to weight areas over others.

For instance neutral mobs are weighted slightly higher then aggressive mobs, this weight is based on lvl and class. For instance a paladin/shaman lvl <=10 should have no trouble fighting in a area where there are an occasional add. Where as most other classes lack core abilities to handle adds at this point.

if you need any help with the profile generation script, hit me up.

Early Alpha ready!

I have a Alpha version ready.

Currently ONLY Durotar on Kalmidor (Horde) is supported. I am ready to Rapidly expand the area during the test period, depending on the feedback i get from the testers.

I am looking for a small handful of people who are willing to spare a little time to test and reply to me any bugs they encounter.

Note that if you want to test this its all just a concept for now, and will be heavily re-written the moment this is proves to be worth spending a huge amount of hours developing.

If the above did not scare you away, send me a message or reply to this thread, saying you want to try it out.

Your golden if u could ever make this work with questing, justa thought if your going to be doign some major re-writing :D

Questing is extremely delicate business. And there are more then one project working on making quest database / quest creation helpers.

So its pretty safe to say that i will not move onto that turf.

Maybe "at some point in the future" it could be considered perhaps?

and furthermore i'm ready and willing to help test this... have a few level 1 horde toons ready to start leveling!

I would like to assist with testing. I often babysit my characters as they go, and it'd be nice to have something new to try.

I think this is a great concept, I look forward to seeing a test and completed release :D

Thread name reminds me of kotor ;D. Also, nice to see this coming along! Hah.

!!! WARNING !!!

This is a Alpha test and ONLY works in Durotar on Kalmidor.

!!! WARNING !!!

How to:
  • Save the folder in .../Plugins/
  • Start Honorbuddy
  • Enable ProfileDb in "Plugins" tab
  • Note that Honorbuddy will not start without any profile loaded. If this is the case i have included a empty profile which is in the plugin folder.
  • Start bot and enjoy!

I share it here so that anyone who wonders if I do this with right intension's can view the source code.
