[PAID] [Priest] Insanity - An Advanced Honorbuddy Shadow Priest Routine [PvE/PvP]

Yeah, glad to hear you'll be continuing over to Legion/Hopefully Demon Hunter CR, would definitely buy/ beta test if you needed. Kind of sucks September release date for legion, but usually they produce good quality content initially, hopefully they just do more raids than 3 like in WOD. Anyways will give you more time to perfect demon hunter on PTR =)

Hey guys! Coming back to wow this coming weekend after getting kinda excited by the legion info, and I'm most likely rolling a shadowpriest or warlock (Yes, solely because of you Millz <3) and I was wondering, is the spriest routine still complicated as I remember? There were like 3 different versions of rotations that you kinda had to switch between, or has it become somewhat simplified? ALso, if I am just going to play random dungeons / heroic raids with friends before legion to get some gear up (No mythic whatsoever), do I really need to minmax the different weave-rotations or can I just pick the most general one and go with that and be happy?

Best regards
A

Think you will be fine with CoP lite until u got enough crit.

AIght, cool. So basicly just run with CoP lite. Not sure about the rest of the settings / talents, but I guess Ill figure it out somehow, lol.
Or you wouldnt happen to have a quick settings guide that you could throw my way? Or just run default on everything and run CoP lite?

I do run it pretty much with pve default settings, just changing drinking and eating stuff and uncheck talents I dont use.
The dot settings are not that important anymore as Millz stated HERE
but maybe someone else has better advices. Im not a spriest pro :)

I play CoP on Iron Reaver, Kormrok, Gorefiend, Zakuun, Socrethar and Tyrant. The CoP settings depends on a fight, for example on Iron Reaver i use standard, but on Socrethar i dot weave (only SWP, i disable VP), so... study the fights and see what's better =DD

Hey man!

You dont feel like writing a quick and easy guide on the bosses you use CoP on? do you use "CoP Dot Weave" aswell?
Seems like my single target damage aint that awesome with this CR and that makes me feel that I missed something out.
I only have the normal version of RoW and 711 ilvl.

Pretty please, beggar.

Regards,
Daniel

Does anyone have a good basic config they can upload so I can take a look? Not asking for mythic settings since I wont ever do that again, but something that can get me through flex/normal HFC without having to switch settings around on a boss to boss basis, since I will only be using this to get some gear before expansion (and possibly ring).

Default PvE settings, CoP talent, and setting to CoP Lite is probably the easiest method at the moment. Not many are using dot weave currently. CoP standard if you've got the archimonde class trinket.

Could you explain the differance between the four CoP rotations?

CoP Lite = basically the normal rotation, dot everything, mind flay filler. Can switch targets without hurting DPS.
CoP Standard = mind spike instead of mind flay, dot all units other than our target (because MS removes the dots from target). Better dps than cop lite, but if you switch targets then you're going to hurt DPS by removing dots.
CoP DoT Weave = a weave process combining the insanity talent where you build up to 5 orbs, cast dots, devouring plague, mind flay insanity until the dots all run out, then back to mind spike until you hit 5 orbs again. Complex rotation that needs very little movement.

Thanks for that info Millz!
And what about maximum number of targets to dot?
Leave at 5 or increase it?

Sorry for these basic questions, but I just want to set it up once and just go with that until Legion :P
EDIT: And last question (I promise!) What would be the DPS talents to go for? Besides CoP obviously.

Was thinking something along these lines:

Feature request:

Raiding Target Priority Checkbox

If enabled on fights like Xhul it targets pyromanicas, over other adds, over boss
On fights like Socrethar it targets ghosts over, big add, over small adds, over boss etc

You get the idea I hope

Can anybody supply a settings file that does optimal dps along with a talents build? I have recently made a new shadow priest up to 100 but am having trouble pushing higher dps. I want to buy this rotation but want to get it higher dps than average. I had a similar effect on my druid when I switched from tuan ha to superbad and increased dps dramatically.

Any help would be appreciated. I'm using the talents currently listed on noxxic, minus that I'm using insanity.

Cheers

The assessment below is not 100% valid but a rough guide instead:

Priests are not that good at low item levels.
Priests are not that good at single target fights.
Priests shine at higher item levels. at multi target fights, and after stacking a lot of crit from gear.

Rough talent choice:

If you have 2 pieces of tier 18 switch level 45 talent to mindbender.

On the routine, on shadow tab, set shadow word pain count to 20 in all 3 boxes and VT count to 2 or 3 in all boxes.

Thanks for the advice. dps seems to have gone up somewhat.

Any other settings you can recommend? I don't see it casting VT at all on mobs and on shadow priest with high dps I see this as one of their main top 3 damage causers in recount.

I suspect the reason it is not casting VT is because it calculates "Time to Die". If the mob is about to die fast before VT ticks it's full duration it will not cast it. Try it on dummies and if it not cast it it might be a bug and Millz might need to intervene.

Regarding settings the routine is not smart enough to take full advantage of cascade. If you use it manually when there are a lot of adds you are going to see bigger numbers.

Most crucial advice is to enchant and gem crit, and prefer crit as first secondary stat and haste as second.

Also trinkets can make a huge difference. You should use different trinkets for AS and different for COP. The new heirloom trinket which is easy to get is considered BIS.

I'm probably missing something, or maybe doing something wrong, however I've noted that when compared to a non botting similarly geared shadow priest, specced for insanity, I normally am mind bender with 4/4 t18, that I will meet or exceed their dps, however when I spec insanity they end up doing more dps / dmg overall. I've gone so far as to stand near them and take note to how often we move to be as close as possible to straight up rotation. Only thing I have been able to tell with similar number of casts, 30 vs 31 in one encounter, that my insanity ended up having an uptime of something like 25-34% where theirs was more around 92%, which then showed on the meters. It was the kormrok fight I was using CoP with CoP standard.

Hoping to get some more understanding on if Insanity is the way to go or if I should ignore for mind bender, as it's a set it and forget it dot basically every 20 seconds, however it seems like a lot of the higher tiered SP's are running insanity, so I'm torn and conflicted.

Ye i send Millz a info on proper CoP Dotless rotation still waiting for him to push beta build so i can test it.

Also it would be nice if the routine have option to not cast VT on certain mob.

List of mob that routine shouldn't Cast VT on

Xhul - Imp and Void Fiend
Manno - Imp and Infernal
Archimonde - Dread Stalker / Void Star / Living Shadow and Infernal

HFA - Iron Dragoon
Iron Reaver - Pretty much all bombs except Reinforce Bomb on Mythic
Kormrok - Hands

Kilrogg - Salivating Bloodthirster
Gorefiend - Construct

Iskar - Illusionary Outcast
Sorcrethar - Haunting Soul and Prison

Xhul / Manno and Achimonde is probably the most important one ( Huge Dps lost on Mythic )

What rotation is the best for Rated battle grounds? CoP Lite, CoP Standard, CoP DoT Weave or CoP DoT Weave New.

Strictly speaking AS is better. The catch is that you will be doing THAT much damage that other players will suspect you are botting.

Out of those that you mentioned, you have two choices: lite or standard. lite uses mind flay as a filler and standard uses mind spike as a filler.
