Doesn't bother me, that's life. Has about the same affect as a volcanic erruption, so, I see no point in whining massively about it. Life goes on.

Massive oil spills can be avoided, volcanic eruptions can't. Also, the same effect as a volcanic eruption? How, in any way, is this like a volcanic eruption?

Why deep water oil drilling don't have the same level of safety than nuclear power plant ? It's seems that the disaster his huge compared to the rather small amount of money it needs to check what the oil companies are doing...

The oil spill pisses me off so damn much, don't even get me started. How in the hell is BP ingenious enough to soak up as much of the market as they do, and make as many profits as they do, and yet they can't fix their problem? I mean, I understand that a a portion of my anger is a bit irrational, sometimes problems that are as complex as an oil well leaking at the bottom of the gulf aren't solvable, but I'm still mad as a hornet about it. If my children can't go down to Corpus Christi and step on a Jellyfish because there aren't any left in the gulf, I'm gonna be pissed.

And whos fault is this?
This is the fault of all of us... We want to have our gas cheap and in enormous amounts. We are the ones who complain if the gas prices rise.
It is our greed that leads into that kind of Problems...Nobody can't just give the fault to BP/The U.S Government. This is a very simple solution..and as simple things often are it's just wrong.
I bet at least 90% of all Americans (and Eurpeans) would be against rising gas price in order to enforce security measures....

The way i understand it from the media is, Yes BP is a British company but 39% of the shareholders are American. In the end BP will more than likely sue the owners of the rig, It was not a BP rig it was Amercian and BP were just leasing it. Obama is pushing for legislation which would make the total amount that can be charged for the cost of clean up after oil spills from 75 million to 10 billion. 10 billion is pocket change to BP.

Why would Bp sue the rig owners? It's BP management that kept pushing them to cut costs and hurry up that caused this accident, there were plenty of warning signs that the BP management ignored. You guys should watch the 60 minute interviews they had about this with people that were on the rig, they were good and very enlightening.

I've lived in New Orleans my entire life. I'm currently living in Baton Rouge because I'm a student at LSU. This shit is ridiculous, to say the least. It's gottan to the point that if we get some wind blowing up from the south, we can smell oil.

My father is in the seafood business, and well he's about to be unemployed because of this. My rant is over. Also, this + erruption = still similar to whoever argued with my similie up there lol. They're both uncontrollable to an extent, damage wildlife nearby, can be see from great distances, are reported upon regularly.

I would have to disagree to an extent. The Haiti Earthquake was in the news for months. Americans were sending money, fod, Crews to help. Ppl don't care about everything the country does to help, but when an accident occurs, it's those damn greedy American's fault this is happening. I say to blame it on every developed country worldwide that are addicted to fossil fuels. Not just cars. But trucks, Trains, or Ships that carry goods worldwide. They all burn up that wonderful crude!

I think this is in referance to the the polution of the eco system in the amazon both by the oil companys and drug lords. there a huge pits full fof toxic waste that is filtering into the water table.

It's a pipe, that was already being 'blocked' at the rig to regulate the amount of oil being pumped out. Why the hell can't they get their heads out of their asses and just crimp the pipe closed to stop 50-80% of the oil being leaked, until they can find a more stable solution. (Hell; the smaller pressure may even let them use their 'put a hat on it' theory better)

Before anybody gets all 'but physics say you can't!', I don't care. This isn't a serious post. Go away.

yeah the top kill was putting new holes in the riser pipe. That's why they ultimately abandoned the top kill and went with just capping it.

The original issue with capping it was the build up of methane crystals due to the cold temps. They think that they have solved that problem this time around.

I don't think you know which country BP comes from. BP = British Petroleum. Do you mean the US deserves to have their eco system destroyed like that? If that's the case that's a pretty crude comment, but you're entitled to your opinion.

and Wrong, BP is NOT British Petroleum it is now called Beyond Petroleum. The company is the fourth largest energy company in the world and is a merger between British Petroleum and Amoco from the US as its now a multinatioal Company.

Also the media seem to be doing a good job of scare mongering and blaming people mainly the brits. This oil spill is nothing compared to previous spills and it probally wont even rank in the top 10 of all time when its eventually been contained. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_oil_spills

Im not saying its okay for a greedy oil company to do this kind of stuff and get away with it, on the contrary i want BEYOND PETROLEUM to cough up and compensate all of those affected. This would not of happened if there wasnt a need for oil however if theres a need someone will supply and profit from it, they cant be prepared for everything.
