My thoughts on DB postponment

Weather it be long term or permanent. Here is my honest thought. Blizzard being the PoS company that it is, has halted sales and therefore halted the nav server as well for at least until friday. What this means to me, my bot is usually logged on for around 12-16 hours a day farming.

My theory is blizzard did this for not only shutting down DB but as a side counter to take note of the unlogged characters during this time. Accounts that are normally logged in for say 12-16 hours a day etc, all of a sudden not showing logged on for the amount of time or not logged in at all imo will be blizzards way to find the user logs and determine weather or not they are bots etc. So during the down time from DB until at least friday I intend to plug myself into the game manually and log some serious hours to deter blizz from possibly scanning my account.

Weather this be true or just me tripping, at least I will still be farming and at least I can possibly skip a potential huge ban wave.

Thoughts are welcome and flames as well.

This sounds like a decent way to get a rough estimate of DB users, but nothing will be concreate from this. For instance I have multiple accounts, one of which im actually playing with my buddies, But due to the recent patch completely screwing up all but one of my heroes.... Im not going to be playing this game manually for fun anymore. I know about 15 people that are the same way and are not botting, hell were looking for a new game to play tbh. I had fun with my monk but now his AS so low hes just not fun anymore. This patch just feels like they nerfed everyone in every aspect. even inferno runs with my buddies just feel slow and un action packed and well dull.

But i see what your saying tho there will be alot of people hanging up there D3 clients for awhile, bc lets face it its still no D2 LOD :)

They gather different kinds of statistics. A patch could cause a group of people to stop playing temporarily, or bring back old players, invite new ones, ...etc. They can't target the botters because the entire player population is shifting, there is just no way of figuring that out. "Oh this guy stopped playing? Clearly a botter;" not how blizzard works. If you botted your ass off 24/7 since DB went live they probably already flagged you, and that's another story.

They just targeted DB, the players won't be harmed.

I already said this in another thread but it still stands...

Blizzard in no way filed this injunction to catch botters. TBH, blizzard probably doesn't give a shit about catching botters...Banning botters or anyone from playing their game is bad business for them.

What they do care about is protecting their intellectual property. If you don't understand that, or don't understand what is meant by intellectual property, you shouldn't have theories on them trying to catch you.

Quick, put on the tinfoil hats!

ROFL

To OP, dont mean to sound mean from laughing. Being banned for botting can be super scary and i completely understand. I am (was) using demonbuddy on my main and only acct. I wouldnt care if i get banned, or have to make new chars or purchase another diablo etc etc. However I WOULD care if I lost all the items I have managed to get up untill this point. It would almost be a blow I couldnt recover from Nor would I want to.

I can only hope that demonbuddy is as legit and undetectable as honorbuddy was/is. If i do get logged/tagged and thrown into a ban wave I will be very sad :(

However, since blizzard is filing an injunction and not just banning ppl using the bot, it makes me think the opposite of your thoughts. Once again I could be way off base as well, and im more than welcome to hear opinions that agree/disagree. But I see them going the steps to file an injunction because demonbuddy is not detectable for them and they cant prevent it, that is why they are filling the injunction instead of just banning the people. (Or so i hope)

P.s. The comments about tin hats was just great :)

what buzzard cares about is control.
Nothing more.
even if you could prove that bots made them 2x more money if they supported bots it would make no difference.
Now if they could sell the bots and you could show them how they would make more money they would be on board.
hey wait does boss have a full time job LOL

Just posting to say there is no way that is true at all, for sooo many reasons.

So if I don't bot and I went on vacation today, I'm fucked?

Yeah didnt you hear blizz going to start banning people who dont play there game 24/7. I f you dont log in right now Expect to be flagged for removal lmfao. :)

Actually if anything, the timing of this injunction is just going to increase the huge number of accounts that will now stop logging on because of patch 1.03. If you want any conspiracies, then how about the Blizzard lawyers secretly hate Jay Wilson, and decided to make loads of accounts go inactive when the largest patch since launch came out so that it looks like even MORE people stopped playing cos of the patch. </tinfoil> :D

----- you're paranoid buddy

spreading random shit about nothing

I just logged on to be safe.... then i remembered i have no clue how to play... damn...

Yeah everyone who stopped playing because of patch 1.0.3 are going to be banned aswell. Isn't it obvious?

Actually now that I think about it, I think I read somewhere on a postit on my floor, that they're gonna sue everyone who stopped playing last night. So prepare to lawyer up!

Pssh Lawyer? My tinfoil hat has never ceased to protect me!

Just gone onto D3 server to have a look. There are only a fifth accounts online at the moment.

Typically at this time the server should have at least 5000+ accounts online but now it's down to approximately 1200 accounts.

I can see D3 staffs sweating on their heads tomorrow trying to explain this decline to their directors over the coming days

Well you are taking big leaps from not happening to sarcastic banned because of vacation. Actually nothing is holding them back to manually inspect accounts that stopped playing after DB went down. Obviously not an instant ban, but if they decide to give manpower to this I think they could.

If they do is another question though and for that they need to have the foresight to actually gather that kind of data, which we can actually only speculate about.
