[MapGen] V3.0? Possibly being remade, Free. [ Info Thread ]

Im a very straight forward person, I say it how it is. So yeah this is gong to be straight forward.

It doesnt take a Genius to realize that honorbuddy and the community has gone to utter shit. And you want to know why?

Its straight forward answer.
The ADMINS, EVERY single person ive talked to today on skype. Which has been ALOT thinks its gone to shit because of them.

Like really they have removed my links to my old and new svn... That there it self is a great way to keep peoples code running and up to date..


Its basically a noob fest now with people having no idea just a bunch of copy past kiddies. Because they have pushed all the REAL devs away.
Or just flat out banned them like I was because I did not like the fact my code was being copy pasted without my permission.


You want to know why I got banned in 2012, because why the fuck should we have to slave away coding spending hours, days, weeks and even months just for some one to come along and copy past ur code and call it theres?


So your gunna question why i dont want my source code to the public?
Considering its connecting to a global database, requires a safe connection.
Pulling Info every time they swap zones or open the generate menu.

This may seem like I got big head. But in perspective.

What I have to OFFER the community and for Honorbuddy.
This would be there biggest contribution to gathering

HB melee wouldn't be shit without me making Glue, U Really think Phelon would of coded PvP Suite by him self?
Fuck no, as i said u have driven all the real coders out, and now your community is a bunch of copy paste kiddys.
 
I agree that things could be better but I don't think insulting them within 2 days of coming back is going to change anything, there are many things they can do but it is up to them and since this is the only bot which is... the best bot out there then I'll be sticking to it like everyone else, when people say "you know the bot I mean" in the wow forums you know they're mentioning us.

there are many ways to get your point across without the bad language, they may not like it but if you put good valid ideas across (like starting a poll to see what others think) then you can help change Honorbuddy for the better (such as my idea about how to format logs, to use RealmName - CharacterName) which did come about and make things a lot easier for both customers and support staff.

I learnt C# from this bot by making plugins etc and yes my code isn't great or well managed but it works, before I had no interest in making calculators but now I still don't but I know how to.

and the point of making most things open source is that people can learn from you, making lots of other people getting an interest in C# and then asking for your code or other things to help them learn, open source I think will always triumph over private closed source, just look at android and how it's making tablets cheaper, granted they're crap Chinese products but still cheaper alternatives to the iPad.

and the only thing that gets done is admin's abusing there powers,
Throwing out GOOD opportunities to IMPROVE the bot DRAMATICALLY.

And Giwin, Copying and pasting there WHOLE code is not learning,

Creating files from nothing is learning, Not related to honorbuddy
Go online learn to do "hello world" before calling ya self a programmer, your not a programmer.

and its because of this MANY great coders have left.
if the admins, and every one was to take what im saying serious and have change, the community WILL grow again,
There will stable plugins, Stable bots, everyone coming from there website hosting BACK on the forums for the community to experience.

Well you see, ive been coding since i was like 16. there is a MASSIVE difference,
i have my deploma in programming ALL distinctions [ Didn't go any further as i was way to advanced by then ]
And im a programmer, with several BIG clients


At the end of the day, i know what ive done, i honestly dont care, i said what i feel and suprising what many other people do to
Its upto the admins preferably Apoc or Bossland as there the only 2 decent admins who dont have a powertrip.​

they should be more "open" to inputs from the users..
 
What I don't understand, if this is something that is so great for honorbuddy in general, why you cannot work with the HB team on this. Talk to them, come to a compromise with one of that that will review the code and see what is going on. Obviously there is a lot of things to take into account here but this thread is quickly turning into finger points and blaming each other. Maybe they can run the database and do the handshake and all that as part of HB as a whole. Perhaps I am just getting old but there has to be a way to work this out.

I wasn't around in 2012, I heard that HB was good and when coming back to wow I have picked it up. I have enjoyed it for the most part, despite the issues with BGs and gathering (which may not be as importaned in WoD?). I have no issues donating to people that do good work and make their stuff free. There has to be a better way to handle this situation.
 
Once again, I stated that I've learnt C# and commented that I'm not very good at it, I neither stated that I'm a programmer.. you're constantly trying to compare yourself to others and then big yourself up by listing personal achievements so you can seek validation from strangers on a forum (like an attention seeker who flips out when he isn't getting his way), even after 2 years you still haven't grown up.

That whole thread was a statement, i dont know how in your head u turned that around on ya self, but good work, some 1 give that man a cookie.

im saying giving people source code is not a way of teaching people.
Cutting peoples SVN is not the way to go by trying to keep projects alive.
Having admins fuck with your thread for the most dumbest reasons, not even telling you - there are things called inbox's
im not comparing my self to no one. i know there are far better programmers then me, i was just stating the fact people DO know what im capable of, and i DO know what im doing.
the honorbuddy community is dead because these dumb rules. what is gunna be left? All the REAL coders have been pushed away.

I know im new to HB. I dont know what happen then and what is going on now. All i know is that this project would be wonderfull. I cant be a tester becouse i cant speak eanglish berywell and in sky will be a mess.

I hope the admin let you do this.

I do not know you, but from what i am reading, you seem to love talking about yourself, and that you are a programmer, we got it, you said it like 10 times already.
Bitching about mods, and saying what they are doing is wrong won't really help your case buddy.

Do your thing, and stop crying about every comments you see. If they close the thread fine, you know that you do not need to advertise on this website and still develop a plugin.

P.S. this is not my opinion, its only a constructive criticism.
 
Couldnt care what u think what so over, im here to either make this plugin, if not mate wants me to make a resource mod for rust. I dont even know why Im bothering after more drama.

Just think of it how would u feel if ever single thing u made was getting taken. Renamed. And SOLD at $100 upfront then $10 a month. Thats your code u spent tireless hours on. That is happening to me right now.

- in saying that I now have a "free" version of "GatherBro" its called "GatherBigBro" as it seems to be ok to take others code.

Prob shouldnt post this but I want to get my point across how the admins need to stop being nazi's and actually help people. Hiring coulple new people every know and then isnt solving the fact the rules and admins additudes pushed them away

Just some quick things off top of my head that would bring this community back together:
Yes im calm and these are actually resonable


Admins:
- need to be reevaluated, editing your posts or having a issue with you should NOT be posted on a thread. Your a admin you have a duty. Try inboxing them. Yes that would make ALOT of diffrence instead of coming back to your thread all hacked up

Admins: should actually treat people like people. After all it is your job. Try be helpful instead a misrable prick to everyone.

ENABLE SVN:
I had both my svns closed and removed. Like seriously. How the hell do u expect people to manage the code? Log into hbforums every time for a bug, nup.

Trusted users:
There needs to be some kind of trust setup inplace by rank? Or some kind. That way trusted users have more control.

Be more lenient:
It really doesn't hurt...

How about stepping down off that high horse and instead of trying to shut down a plugin or ANYTHING you actually try find a solution expecially if its something that could REALLY help honorbuddy out

Another thing:
Trusted users - allowing them to actually load a plugin as a DLL [ If your so worried, Thats when trusted users come in, And u have a big fat popup saying hb isnt responsible ]

There are so many diffent reasons why u should have your code hidden. Especially talking to a server, handshaking with 2 keys, and each zone load to pull db info.
Theres no way any one would have there code open for that

HB doesn't need you swiny. WoW doesn't need you swiny. Noone gives stuff away for free, you are up to something no good. Hopefully staff can see it and you get a ban inc soon.
 
I dont really care if he has this end all be all programs or what not. If he made/makes something worth contributing that be a different thing all together. From what I can tell, he is here protesting a old thorn that was in his side from what appears, and I may be wrong, to be the second he was "unbanned" or "allowed" back on the forums. His rhetoric, point of views, bias, and attitude is what concerns me. I have never seen anyone so, well stupid.

no closed sources!
easy way to fix your issue (and a simple security thingy) ... don't use the same database user for gathering data and for only reading data, the public user for the plugin to read data don't need any write/insert/update/alter/create/drop/whatever access to the database or any other part of the server, nothing else than reading.

if u r not able to provide an open source project then cancel it, there won't be an exception for you, everyone else has to live with the rules, so you have to do it too.

ur nothing special mate :)

Honestly, have you even read what you've been typing? You seem to be stirring up as much drama as possible. Half your posts have nothing constructive to say about the plugin you're talking about making, you're just complaining about a bad community and so on.

I as much as anybody appreciates good contributions to HB and the community, but for the love of jesus stop thinking you're gods most gifted child - or atleast don't try to get the message through in every single post.

Lastly, there's not really any reason not to follow the rules. Having the rules changed might be good for you, if you have good intentions, but somebody else could potentially abuse it.
