Low cost rig, share your set up

Yes, that's right, i've just checked my stats and it's down.
Anyway, i don't see the point to oc at 4.5 if i get just one may be two additional accounts but lower stats/accounts. I'll switch back to 3.9ghz, 13fps+, 12 accounts for the 3770k.

Best thread in a while, op. We used to have some of these back in the day.

overclock to 4.4 ghz. very doable on air with an OK cooler (cooler master evo 212, got for $25 on ebay. also had some arctic silver 5 lyiing around from my main pc build). also make sure you have a decent mobo... i bought a cheap one before but when trying to overclock the mosfet temperature went up to 90C+... a good mobo is worth the invest even if it means an extra $50. do not skimp on mobo

That's also what I learned after trying to be cheap on a 1500+ ? rig.

Have been testing some set up changes recently:
- use of an HD 7770 1GB, i can't play more than 9-10 accounts with it, so i ll stick with the HD7850
- OC i7 3770k to 4.5 Ghz. Quite disappointed as i can push up to 13 accounts but the CPU can't really go further. My settings are at 10 fps / 10 tps. Still not sure how some managed to get 15-16 bots running there.
- use of the i7 4770k. Looks pretty good so far. Been playing 13 accounts without any OC. Will try to push for more.

Nice! Let us know about the outcome. About people claiming outrageous number of bots....there has been before and there will be more. No real proof is ever given, and even when some screenshot or similar is provided, you find they are using terrible fps and tps, or the render disabler plugin, to get 2 more bots working. Under normal conditions, normal Oc's (and getting a 3770 to 4,5 is borderline normal) and high end cpu's -gpu's combos, 11-13 instances seems to be the maximum, frequently the cpu usage being the "stop there" factor.

Fair warning on 10 fps ... you are better to stay above 13 fps and cut tps to 7-8. FPS will cost you a lot of money.

Exactly....I might even add, every time your cpu gets to (and over) 100% usage it will lag hard and produce some deaths, dB and d3 crashes, etc.
I found it to be better Item wise to step down from 12 to 11 bots and get them working at a stable 90%. Total item count is better than pushing forward and adding another one overstressing the comp.

I'll try to setup a rig with a i7 393K soon. It won't be too cheap though ^^

Any news on a 3930k?
I've been testing an i7 4770k at 4.3 Ghz, it can't handle properly 14 accounts, IPH drops. I could push it up more but it seems useless to me.
Haven't tested a graphic disabler.

It would be awesome if all the benchmarking sites included a "how many bots can run" test on their charts :D

nope... was on vacation and I'll move to a new flat soon so I don't have much spare time for bot-configurations ^^ or even assembling the new rig.

I think somewhere in mid December I'll be able to post a few results ^^

got fx 8350, gt 610 2 gb, 1tb 7200 rpm 64mb cache wd blue (yeah you can't but for instance 320gb as fast and for a good price), asrock 970 extreme 4, additional cooler, nice case, 16gb of ram and OCed to 4.2 it runs 11 smoothly with right d3prefs and a plugin, properly oced prolly could run 1 more, who knows, cpu is at 37*C, cost me like 730$ in my country, with 11 accounts the cpu ocasionally gets to 100% but only at times so it doesnt matter much i think, it returned in 1,5 month with 17 accounts runnin', if you know how and you are willing to spend more time it could be even less, if you want to try your luck and want to gamble could be even faster but i chose the "steady income" way, imo the already mentioned fx is the best cpu for the money, gonna assemble the 2nd identical one in about a month or so... maybe i save up some money on rams, the rig with bots gives me an awsome salary for 3 hours of work every 3-4 days.. i don't complain, i7 even though can run 14 bots it is twice the price so why waste money? it consumes much less power but still, it can't be that much more

What bots are your running? Mp10 barbs? And the plugin? Graphic disabler?

Very similar to my project rig, except 8320 instead of 8350. yes Intel is better but AMD wins the bang for buck. nice work.

mp10 oasis, no simple follow, yes sir rdisabler it is, cpu gets to 100% when all bots are fighting large groups of mobs, proper d3prefs also helps a lot
Do you know how many account you can run without rdisabler?
It ll give me a better comparison with the i7. Btw, on i 4770k, i can handle 13 accounts not 14.

Ordered rest of my parts. for the i7 3930K-rig. All in all it was not cheap though :D

maybe you try the new 4930k? price is marginally higher, as is the performance. Same socket, same chipset!

well I found an ebay cheapo 3930K ... so I guess I'll stick to that for now :3

Don't want to sell it immediately without having it tested.

Also my budget is almost spent ... so I can't mess around with that many high end CPUs :P
