Low cost rig, share your set up

I'd like to work a bit on the cost/bot of my hardware as my planing to buy new computers or to upgrade the one i have.
My typical rig comes this way:

- i3770K or i4770k: 350$ (the prices are in the country i live in, so it might be cheaper in the US)
- motherboard: 100$
- HD7850 2GB: 200$
- HDD 500GB: 60$
- Power supply 600-700W: 80$
- 20GB Ram: 180$
- Case: 50$

Total: 1020$
By playing on MP10, i'm able to run 12 accounts, that is a cost of 85$ per account. If i push it to 13-14 accounts, the CPU can't keep up, overcloked or not (still have to test it with the i4770k).
I guess, i can get a cheaper power supply/case/ram but that s not what i want to improve.
From your experience, is there a better combination that would lower the cost/bot? Using an i3930k for example would allow me to play more accounts, not sure it worth the extra costs though.

Ps: no need to tell me the economy is dead and it's not worth it, that's another subject.
 
low cost rig? dont see :) 1k is not low
u can run 16-20 clients on 3770k, and u need 25-30GB ram, not 20
 
By low cost, i don't mean the total but the cost per account. I'd like to get less than 85$/account. If the rig costs 2000$ but lower the ratio, i'm fine with it.
Yes for the ram, 20GB is for 12-14 accounts.
Are you running 16-20 clients with a 3770k? Using DB to farm on MP 10 with lower spec on whatever i can, i'm totally unable to do it. I'm more interested by personal experiences than theories. For example, running 6 clients gives me a CPU usage of 30-35%, but it doesn't mean i can go up to 18 though.
 
3770k oced to 4.5 - 16 clients
3770k oced to 4.7 - 20 clients ( problems with cooling the system in summer )
farming mp5-10, no prob at all

Motherboard : Gigabyte 970
RAM : 16 GB
GPU : ATI 6670 2 GB
500 GB HDD
Fans + Cooler + Tower
For a total of 500 ?

I run 7 clients on it , so the ratio is ~70 ? per bot. (MP10 barbs). Ppl in this forum state that FX-8350 can run 9-10 for +50 ?, so you can get about ~60 ? per bot. I bet the limit of ATI 6670 is too 9 bots.

I dont see how you pull this off even with a graphic disabler.

Do you run weep/misery? 5 tps? 10fps?

Curious =)
 
After Oced to 4.2 i haven't seen any difference.
But at 4.5Ghz you re currently able to play 16 clients? Gonna try to push it more then.
Other question, is someone using a 3930k? The extra cost might worth it if it can run more than 20 clients.
 
intel 3770k overclocked
32gb ram (bad quality ram but it was cheap so dont care)
120gb SSD (Fast but need d3 launcher apoc, run many d3 from 1 folder)
radeon 7770 1gb (cheap on newegg, got for $60 after rebate)
can run 15 clients + youtube OK.

mostly running oasis, some run field of misery for variety.

overclock to 4.4 ghz. very doable on air with an OK cooler (cooler master evo 212, got for $25 on ebay. also had some arctic silver 5 lyiing around from my main pc build). also make sure you have a decent mobo... i bought a cheap one before but when trying to overclock the mosfet temperature went up to 90C+... a good mobo is worth the invest even if it means an extra $50. do not skimp on mobo
 
I would recommend MSI mobo low power consumption and temp's.

What's the total cost of the build? Running 15 bots it's good, but you need to have a good $/bot ratio.

honestly depends on where you live, what deals are going on at the moment etc.i like new egg because of the bundle deals they have going on a lot of the time, for example i saved about $30 on a cpu + mobo bundle. i also got 32gb ram for $140 back when they had a crazy deal on it.
 
Anyone can help me build an insane computer rig with SLI graphics for like 1200-1300 Uk pounds which is around 2000 dollars

Is it better to buy parts myself and build it or use and website to build it or buy an already built rig?

Have been testing some set up changes recently:
- use of an HD 7770 1GB, i can't play more than 9-10 accounts with it, so i ll stick with the HD7850
- OC i7 3770k to 4.5 Ghz. Quite disappointed as i can push up to 13 accounts but the CPU can't really go further. My settings are at 10 fps / 10 tps. Still not sure how some managed to get 15-16 bots running there.
- use of the i7 4770k. Looks pretty good so far. Been playing 13 accounts without any OC. Will try to push for more.

Fair warning on 10 fps ... you are better to stay above 13 fps and cut tps to 7-8. FPS will cost you a lot of money.
