I won't post any specific locked threads here, but I did have a general question about them. How come when people are discussing something that you (Honorbuddy Admins, whoever) feel is *inaccurate*, not necessarily against any rules I've seen, you just say it's trolling and lock the thread? Why not respond, correct our inaccuracies and then let us respond back? Every day I'm on the forum I feel like if anyone says anything negative about honorbuddy it gets a "everything is fine like it is" speech and then locked. If I believe that what I was saying is still correct after someone says I am not, that is not "clearly trolling" or anything else. It's a discussion. Discussions go back and forth. I would love to be proven wrong about something, but I can't due to the Admins.

I hope this doesn't come across as trolling because it's not. Sometimes locked threads are needed. Absolutely. However, when we have 2 pages of discussions where 13 different people all agree on the same point and then 1 person disagrees and locks the topic and says don't talk about it again, it feels like we are being silenced and not able to talk freely. In some of the posts that were locked, nobody was angry. Nobody was yelling at each other. The Admins just didn't like what people were saying.

Having said all of that, if there was a way to discuss these topics off of the public forums, I would do that. There isn't a place for it though. There's literally no way to try to convince anyone to get your point across if one of the Admins feels that what you are saying is wrong.

Sorry for the rant, but felt it must be said.

This is not a "free" forum. It is a service offered by Bossland. They have no obligation to allow discussion they do not wish to. There are other sites/forums where you can talk about HB and there is nothing they can do about it.

That may be how it is, but that doesn't mean it's how it should be. I am their customer. If I'm trying to articulate that something is wrong with a product and they just say "nope" and close the thread, how is that helpful? Let me add some more details to my explanation. Don't just shut down communications.

Most of the threads are repeat questions and concerns that are already answered in multiple places with a simple search.

The "simple search" you speak of is a different issue. If you go to the top and this search, it searches all of their bots' forums, not the one you care about. I've tried using search a few times actually and ended up being easier to go to google and searching for what I needed. However, the threads I'm referring to are ones where "it's been answered" isn't the right answer. I disagree with an answer. There's no way for me to disagree with it though if it's locked.

Yes they may feel it is a dumb question or something already answered or simply you are truly wrong.

If you feel you are correct PM an Admin or email their support with a complaint.

You cannot PM the Admin. It says so if you try. That's my point. There's no way to try to convince them otherwise.

I imagine we would have more free speech in Germany during the early 1940's than we do here. Your best bet is to go to another forum to discuss Honorbuddy's failings. PM if you want a good one.

You are an HB customer yes......and? Does it mean that HB needs to allow you asking/posting everything here? No!
They can also turn off the board and only allow communication via email or ticket system. As long as you get service its fine.
There is no one forcing them to run a board with huge cost and administration time.

You use the search function wrong. You can select the forum you wanna search in and many other criteria. Also a "honorbuddy google <searchword>" search often gives a direct link to a thread here.
The Mods and Admins cannot waste their time answering the same stuff again and again. If you wanna have this kind of service HB needs to increase price to hire people.
This is a company board so there needs to be a balance between cost of investment and outcome for HB/Users.
If I would be able to decide I would lock down the board much much more. All these stupid repeating questions every day because people do not use the search function or don't want to read is crazy.
Same for people not really using thread titles describing their problem but simply writing "oooooooomg neeed help". These kind of topics are also in the db an make the outcome of the search function sometimes really weird.
HB is very very very open here on the board because Bossland runs this board as kind of community board and not company board. You can be happy he did not follow my advices in the past when I was admin here :-)

No you cannot. Board has >200.000 users. What do you think happens if everyone can write a PM to an Admin?
Admins administrate the board. They have nothing to do with your threads, key or payment issues. If you are a personal friend you can write them, otherwise you need to use the official communication channel and there are a lot of them.
Board, Email, ticket system.......
I am missing patience very often when people write at 2am that they're waiting for an hour already that someone replies. Thread content ".....neeeeeeeed someone to config my hb for me" for sure. :-)
There are - I am sorry to say this - to many idiots around here. Didn't say you are one of them because you asked very kindly and found the right words.
Hope you got the point?

Regards
BotOp

Having 13 different people agree on the same subject does not mean much when we have more than 251k registered users on this forum, none can guarantee they are right

if someone open a thread about free copies of Honorbuddy, more than 13 people will agree...so what?

i suggest you,to read again our forum rules :)

even this thread is against our rules/forum guidelines

I agree with you that having 13/251k users agree on something does not mean much. You and I also both also know that 251k people don't visit the forums on a regular basis. All I'm saying is if we are having a discussion about HonorBuddy, how are we to come to a conclusion (that may end up in your favor if the right argument is made) if topics are locked before we can get to that point? One of the posts were just in the General Honorbuddy section. Nobody was flaming. Nobody was angry. Nobody did anything against the rules that I could tell other than disagree with who locked it.

@BotOperator mentioned that there are too many people on this board and the Admins waste their time locking threads over and over. Why even do that? Most forums have the community answer the questions or just leave it sitting. Honestly, it seems like a waste of time to me to answer the same questions over and over OR constantly scanning posts and then locking them because a question has already been asked.

Would you mind elaborating on why (or which rule) this post is going against? I just re-read them and I don't see anything about this type of post.

To be honest; and I say this with all the respect in the world. BotOperator has been a wierd neckbeard facist forum moderator since Pirox, he was infamous for locking threads and getting salty.

The HB community has so many amazing ideas for HB yet we never seem to get an answer. There has been a growing movement of people saying "if you need more money to develop more, tell us and we'll happily pay/commit the money"; The forums have been run by the HB equivalent of the KGB for a while; I appreciate everything HB does, but the forums here aren't a place for legitimate discussion; just to get support and pat each other on the back.
