Sorry if this has been asked before, but I was just wondering what people's opinions were. Are you just selling gold as you're getting it, or saving it until the next major patch? Or a mix of the two (sell some, keep some)?

Id rather spend it better equipping bots. I dont think I plan on selling gold anymore--not really into the 40% fee for selling items for gold.

its 15% on first amount. another 15% on the amount after deduction of the initial 15%

15% for selling an item on gold AH, 15% Blizzard fee for selling gold on RMAH, 15% PP fees. Total fees of ~39%.

37.75% fee to be exact :p

Maybe I fail at math, but I had it sitting at about 38.5875%. I gave some to a friend, and got my monk a better amulet instead of selling the gold.
Exorbitant fees, but I don't think any of us are in any position to complain about it. As long as D3 makes them money, there's a reason to keep working on it and hopefully improve the economy/fan base at some point.
.

To early in the morning so I failed @ math aswell. It should be 27.75% total fee :p

I would love to save it for PVP patch.. But stack up for 3-12 months.

That would get me a minimum of 4500M-18300M and lose that in a ban is just plain stupid

In theory yes, save it up. But you have to calculate the chance of a ban. Since my boys are already 2 months old, they are walking a thin line i would say. So i dump every 100m or so.

Save up a few billion, get banned, lose it all?

Nah, I'd rather get 15% less cash for my gold than risk losing everything.

Sell asap. Assume tomorrow those bots are history. Also this has probably been covered but if you are selling an item for gold then selling the gold, by the time all is said and done you are getting 61.4% of the gold's worth in your pocket after GaH cut and RMAH Bliz/PP cuts.

I've been considering using the gold to buy items to sell on the RMAH to take a $1 and 15% rather than the 27.75% you get with gems/gold...

Even if you payed taxes on that 61%. Say taxed by 1/3(simple version) is still decent return for the 5-7$ a month you spend to bot 18/7+60$ for game+25$ for bot.Even if

So why are people crying about easy money?

Not sure how you got "crying" out of that, try to look at things with a less trollish attitude imo. I was simply speculating on methods for the most bang for my gold. Why sell it at 61% value when you can get 85% - $1 (and possibly more if the value to gold cost ratio is in your favor).

RMAH items = very underpriced (15% to 25% lower than GAH)
GAH items = slightly overpriced (10% to 15% higher than RMAH)

So it's not possible to get a profitable flip of GAH items to RMAH. Blizzard's taxes turns your profits into losses.

A few hours ago I sold an item worth $12.28 (after fees) or 50m in gold for $16.11 (after fees) on the RMAH. Its the first time I've tried and perhaps just a fluke but I made 31% more in the exchange :)

So you bought an item in GaH for 50 mil then sold it on RMAH for 12.28 after fees while same gold would have only made you 16.11?

best to sell, like the others have said, the risk of being banned aint worth it
