I used to buy my gametime with gold. Did it for months on 2 accounts with no problems, also from Precious on Ownedcore. I then bought the year deal for my contract thing. I used it for months and then the time got removed. There were a few messages back and forth with a GM through tickets. I said I would cancel my contract if they didn't give me my time back. He said I couldn't. I told him I would go to the bank and cancel my check card. He gave me most of my time back. A few months later all my time got taken and they restarted my contract. Haven't bought time for gold since.

I pay about 2.50$ a month per account real money. I never do more than 3 months at a time, and have never had it removed.

I had do this last day and got scammed about 7K half of inicial price of 14k,

Buy it one month at a time....

Uhh, how does the RAF thing work? I haven't been playing this game for a long time and am really confused :s

What are you guys thoughts about this scenario? I have 3 accounts. 2 on one b.net account and another on a separate account. What if I bought 9 months and placed 3 months on each account, do you think that is risky?

Anyone wanna share their chinese seller?(i am just charging 1 month at a time.) mine seems to have disappeared after the recent removal of months despite me not losing any months on any of the 5 accounts, but 2 of them happened to run out of game time today

I hope you are aware that you are receiving of stolen property, meaning that guys that sell you "RAF" time for 2-3$ a month or few K gold, they did use a stolen credit card in the first place.

This is at least in Germany prosecutable.

I don't even know how they get RAF man.
People telling me that they are buying RAF with stolen property.
I don't know about that, I only pay my gold and receive my RAF.
How do they buy it?
I don't know.

I'm buying gametime cards for gold (no raf for me). Trading gold for cards makes no taxes, so I prefer trading gold vs real money

Precious is the first person I bought RAF time from, a few years ago. At the time it was an incredibly hot chic. She explained that they use the accounts to they start to bot and sell gold. That way if they get banned its no biggy. I was buying single months at a time on 2 accounts and it was fine for months. When Bliz released the contract thing for D3 I signed up and bought a year from Precious on both accounts for like 85k each, if I remember right. Months went by and it was fine then about half got taken away. A few months later the rest got taken away and my contract started over. I haven't bought time since.

Everyone knows that you shouldn't buy more than 1 month at a time. It's quite obvious.

Ok well tell the feds to find my receipt that i paid with gold to the chinese half way acroos the globe. They are in china using these cards to buy the time, im pretty sure they will never trace the people that the chinese sell to.

Bossland is just trying to scare you guys. Now its a different thing when you pay with cash to them as there is a receipt which is not good and can be paper traced, but trading it for gold na.

If it was a case of getting the end user who put the time on there account, blizz would have done that already as they can see who uses the game time and when they see the credit card was stolen they just remove the game time. Accounts that had game time on there that got removed is usually all that happens.

So dont make it sound like the feds are gonna come knocking on my door because i paid $2 for a $15 product that's not even close to a felony charge most law enforcemt would give a damn about that. Most US States have $500 stolen limit or above before you even do any time for it. Yes of course its prosecuteable but most likely wont happen just over $15 product.

1) source?
2) I don't now how they do it and it's fairly irrelevant. I never knew how my rl friend paid for the account I raf-invited him to either. Blizzard implemented a system you benefit from by recruiting people - how the people you recruit pay for their account does not matter for your issue. Same holds true for every company offering some kind of RaF system, be it phone companies or newspapers. (Note: I'm NOT referring to "unfreeze codes", just plain RaF gametime.)

Addition:

From Blizzard's PoV, these are the consequences for you as a recruiter when something is wrong with the payment of the person you recruited:

Tiogaradh said:
If the game-time awarded from the Recruit-A-Friend promotion is removed then this does tend to indicate a problem with the recruited players payment, due to privacy issues this can only be discussed with the account holder, so if your Recruit-A-Friend game time has been removed then you will need to have your recruited friend contact our support team to look into the payment issue.

Or this one, specifically adressing RaF benefits:

I?d like to use this opportunity to quickly link to our Policy Spotlight regarding scams, as it actually has a section that covers this potential ?use? of the Recruit-a-Friend scheme (although it actually doesn?t mention it explicitly);

?Scams? that break the Terms of Use
Policy Spotlight - Scams - Forums - World of Warcraft

If you think about the proposition from your first post, that would actually translate as someone spending real world currency to purchase an account and subscription? and this is then being offered for a sum of in-game currency, which directly contravenes our Real vs. Virtual Transaction Policy;

What?s probably the most important thing to note for anyone even remotely tempted by such a proposition is that, aside from the majority of these offers being scams, we would not be able to assist in the refund of any gold lost in this way. Best thing to do is just keep reporting them, and we?ll continue to take action as needed! :)

tl;dr: Buying RaF gametime is againt Blizzard's ToU/ToS (as is botting) and Blizzard will not assist you when you are experiencing problems while using such a service. Nowhere to be found are legal consequences for the end-user.

Addition 2:

Found something that also adresses unfreeze codes:

Pet and mount codes from the Online Store

This one carries the same warnings as for game-time cards, except that there is also the additional chance that, even if your (illegally) purchased code appears to work, the player ?selling? you his code will then cancel his payment, chargeback the codes, and you will then be left with nothing to show for your in-game gold.

Please Note: By taking part in any of the above schemes, you yourself are also breaking the Terms of Use.

This means that, while we will always continue to take the appropriate action against any player reported for carrying out these types of scam, we do not guarantee any kind of restoration of any gold or items lost as a result.

tl;dr on this one: Your risk, if there is a chargeback, you lose your pet/mount/gametime/gold. Legal actions against the end-user are nowhere to be found here as well.

Sincerely,

nerds
