Honor Buddy - Wiki Profiles Project (1-80 Leveling, Questing, and more)

I am a normal user and im up for this idea so at that point ur wrong.
And now lets go for some useful Discussions instead of this.

Well if you read the whole thread MDurner11 I told him how to host it safely. Even offered to do it for free and he turned it down. Instead he went and paid for something. His reason being I hate seeing projects go down after a while because they depended on one user. Well if thats his reasoning for doing it that way, now every user depends on him to pay for that. Just saying, when I've gotten involved in projects that started off as one person wanting complete control and having no intentions of relinquishing the vice group just so he doesn't have to deal with others, is a project already headed down a dark road.

This is indeed bad . . .

Now that we have officially received bossland's permission, as far as I'm concerned, any further discussion or debate on this topic is moot. I've done my best to express my opinions and replies to people in a polite and logical manner. If anyone was in any way offended or insulted by my replies, I apologize as that was not my intent. If anyone posts any further derogatory or negative comments, everyone please just ignore them. Don't feed the trolls, and like Tony said, let's do our best to keep things polite.

With that said, let's try to move forward with some constructive ideas:

If you are one of the people who have kindly advertised the wiki in your forum signature, it would probably be a good idea to include the signup password (or at least a link back to this thread).

As soon as we get a little bit further on the progress for some of these profiles and get them to a more stable point, I would like to post a forum thread for each stable one (expressly identifying that profile as a "wiki" editable profile). The forum post will include a downloadable "release" of the profile (just like any other profile here), and will serve as a discussion area for that particular profile. This will provide an easy and familiar way for general users to report problems with the profile and download the latest stable build, and will also allow wiki editors of the profile to keep track of things a bit better (since the wiki profile is just a single page and doesn't have a comment thread).

certainly will put the pw in my sig.

And good idea about the posting on here once stable.

I am pretty certain that the Scalding Pools profile is ready to be posted, but I kind of want someone to double check it by running it themselves.

if you can?t let it, please make it a little bit smaller (EVERYBODY) xD

I currently have a bot that is level 56. As soon as it is closer to 68, I will run it on the Scalding Pools profile.

If everything works out ok, I will let you know. If I run into any snags, I will make the required edits to the profile there on the wiki. If everything goes smoothly, I will post it on the forums. Alternately, if the original author (Flyryan) wants to either post it or update their current posting, I'd be open to that idea as well, as long as it linked back to the profile on the wiki in some way.

I'm assuming that Hausi is referring to the wiki advertisements in people's signatures. If this is the case, then I actually tend to agree with him on this particular issue. With as many people here who are against it (or skeptical), it is probably a good idea to "lay low" instead of shoving it down their throats. My vote is to lower the font size in our signatures and just let the curious people figure it out for themselves. I think the wiki will show its merit on its own in due course (especially if we can build and post an original, successful wiki-built questing profile here on the forums as an example).

Emmm.... this is frustrating me, I've signed up but I'm still unable to access anything. Even using the password: aw3somesauce. I'm still presented with the same screen

There is a issue with Wikidot and IE8...
It works with Chrome.

But by all means. Lead with the Iron Fist. Heil mein F?hrer.
Lol, but in honesty, wired's logic is flawless. And it is indeed logic, he's not making assumpsions, he's backing up everything he states with a valid and good reason. He's an oldy here, a contributor, and he's web wise, and I fail to udderstand why you've chosen to bash him rather than listen and accept his help and advice.

I do not condone this project and hope it fails.

********************************
On a brighter note to avoid my post being bitched at or deleted, maybe when this thing crubmles, we'll have a few more good profile makers around, in the meantime, I hope my favourites contributre to the forum as per usual.

What's your wikidot username, and what web browser are you using?

Certain web browsers seem to be having some issues with the signup process, and I'm trying to figure it out.

Well Good Luck with this project :)

And Good Luck with reversing your bans, and winning your lawsuits :)

I dont care what you do :) as long as you dont post profiles on the wiki made by someone here on this forum, without having there permission.

Thats all :)

I would normally avoid posting a reply to this, as I don't want this thread to go off on any more tangents, but I feel like I need to at least clarify something (in case people didn't actually take the time to thoroughly read the last 9 pages of discussion).

I neither bashed wired personally, nor did I reject his help. I simply stated that I couldn't understand why he was objecting to a new and fresh idea which so many people are interested in. As to rejecting his help, If you actually go back and read my posts, you will see that I stated very clearly that I would be more than open to the idea of someone else handling the hosting of the wiki, provided they had Bossland's support. I am not in this in an attempt to gain power or fame, as he claimed (all you have to do is look at how many other admins [including people such as Tony] that there are on the wiki and take into account the fact that I personally offered to give Bossland full control of the wiki by making him the master admin if he desires). This is an unjust and completely unfounded accusation to make, and I have nothing further to say about it.

*end of clarification*

Now, back to positive things.

Hello Marcus,

The way to post a new profile is just to create a new page on the wiki, give it a title, add a description, and paste the XML code into a code block. After that, just look at the URL for the newly created page and edit the "Honorbuddy Profiles" page to include a link (in the appropriate section) to the new profile page.

I would recommend taking a look at the wiki "edit" code for some of the other profiles to get an idea of how to format things. Looking through the general wiki documentation would probably be a good idea as well.

Thanks for your contribution!
