At Stock Speeds:
FX-8150: Can squeeze only 6 DB + 6 D3 before CPU reaches 85% Avg TDP at 86C. (54C Idle.)
i7-3770K: Can squeeze only 8 DB + 8 D3 before CPU reaches 85% Avg TDP at 72C. (46C Idle.)

- Both PCs uses the CM HAF-X casing with the SilverArrow SB-E Extreme
- PSU is mounted at the bottom of the casing.
- Fans used are the default fans.
- It's summer temperature in the Southern Hemisphere, ambient temperature is 32+C.

wow, there isnt much difference from amd to i7 , whilst i7 is 2x the price of amd. lalalallaallal

lol 86C?? for amd? :O, i tought they were saying that critical is 66, after that it can get fried? O_O

Maybe, that's the price in Norway or USA?

You still need to consider the prices of RAM, GFX, HDD, PSU, Cooler and Casing into the equation.

Just by buying AMD processor + compatible Motherboard doesn't actually half the prices on RAM, GFX, HDD, PSU, Cooler and Casing.

Maybe, I will find that out soon enough.

Lets put it this way , amd 8150= 200 euro, i7 3770k = 400+ euro. Id say thats alot of money to say just for running 2x bots extra.

200 euros converted to AUD is only sufficient for buying a single AMD 8150 processor.

Let x be the remaining cost of the PC parts (Motherboard + RAM, GFX, HDD, PSU, Cooler, Casing + OS)
AMD FX8150: 200 + x = 6 bots -> Cost of 1 bot = (200+x)/6
Intel i7-3770k: 400 + x = 8 bots -> Cost of 1 bot = (400+x)/8

Assume x = 401 euro
AMD FX8150: Cost of 1 bot = 601/6 = 100.17 euros
Intel i7-3770k: Cost of 1 bot = 801/8 = 100.13 euros

Assume x = 500 euro
AMD FX8150: Cost of 1 bot = 700/6 = 116.67 euros
Intel i7-3770k: Cost of 1 bot = 900/8 = 112.50 euros

So an Intel i7-3770k botting machine is still more price-efficient than AMD FX-8150

The reason why I bought one AMD FX-8150 and one Intel i7-3370k was to do a comparison test for future expansion in units.

Your idle temps are really high tbh, I have a cheap CPU-cooler (30€) and I'm at like 27C idle and 60C after a couple of hours of Intel burn test. Make sure your coolers are mounted like they should and that you don't have too much cooling paste or something, or are you running a crazy overclock with high voltages?

Stock voltages are usually too high. Try to lower them marginally to find where your system is still stable. There is a lot of info about stable builds on the internet.
I had the same problem with my old i5-2500k, 90% load temps were in high 80s. After lowering voltage by a decent amount the temperatures never goes above 55 degrees.

It's at default stock voltages :( The ambient temperature of the room is 32+C, just think of the room as a greenhouse.

Ok, that might explain temps, but still, I'm only at 6-7C above ambient temperature at idle. How much cooling paste did you use?

Wrong, because you priced the MB of the i7 at the same price of a AMD MB. You need to add atleast 100 more euro for a decent i7 MB.

sifer you are talking such a bs...
you get good boards for oc the i7-3770k @4.5ghz for less than 100? and the cpu costs 290?, not 400?...

There's not much difference between the price of the AMD MB and i7 MB here in Aussie-land.

Even on Newegg:
Newegg.com - GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD3 AM3+ AMD 990FX SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard
Newegg.com - GIGABYTE GA-Z77X-UD3H LGA 1155 Intel Z77 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

It's only a US$15 price difference between i7 MB and AMD MB.

What you are all failing to realize is that sifer is an AMD fanboi.
