I'm afraid you don't know what you're talking about.
As a sysadim of a bigger company I tell you, leave your fingers off AV. This is not ignorance, this is an advice.
That AV crap has crippled our company servers for 4 days, blocking even simple text files and Avast customer service had no solution.
Settings were correct and approved by Avast via TeamViewer.
Even if you switch AV off, some components are still working in the background stultifying you.
This is not tolerable!
After 4 days and no further clue from Avast, we wiped AV off the drives (not as easy as you may think) and installed Kaspersky IS, which worked fine from beginning.
BTW:
In todays world, heuristic scanning this is no more worth mentioning.
It is a must have for all antivirus programs and most of it have this feature.
