Being extremely weary and risking yet another arrogant response - or yet another ban even - from the Bossland clan, I just had to hit the "Reply With Quote" on this. The countless (unanswered) questions and (unfixed) reported errors just NEED proper escalation.
So I do hope this post won't be removed, just because it's not specifically aimed at Dungeonbuddy and Dungeonbuddy only (some moderators are rather trigger-happy).
By the way, this problem doesn't apply to Dungeonbuddy only, but the entire HB project seems to be jumping from one disaster to another. The optimistic announcement, a few weeks ago, about attracting more developers, obviously didn't get things sorted.
Dungeonbuddy, the way it is now, is an absolute and utter tragedy - most scripts can't be used, and HB crashes at random when using this botbase.
At best, the "Start" button greys out (after clicking it) and the only way to end HB is to kill the session with the Task Manager - just to mention one of the many, many issues.
At this moment, forget about proper "support" from Bossland, since any developer, other than Highvoltz, will "conveniently" tell you that they can't do anything for you and you will "again conveniently" be directed to "the dungeonbuddy thread". Refer to the Honorbuddy "Support" Forum for lots of proof of that.
I don't blame the person that provides that support, simply because most probably that person doesn't have a clue either.
Many Botbases, Routines, Scripts etc comprise Honorbuddy .. I do acknowledge the complexity of all this.
But I also do recognise the chaos this project is in, and it definitely needs proper project management.
My gut feeling tells me that things went pear-shaped when a few architectural choices were made. The wrong choices, obviously.
Just to mention one : HB is to be considered an engine that accommodates scripts. Basically a rock solid concept. Originally, scripts were supposed to strictly follow the HB API and the profiles were supposed to "activate" all that beauty.
The sh*t hit the fan when a certain bundle of profiles was all of a sudden considered being "leading". Undermining the original architectural concept, HB slowly changed from an independent engine into an engine mainly supporting those profiles and QB's. All the other profiles had to follow the new concept. For instance, why would it be that the attack-range has been removed from the settings? Just to mention one parameter that constantly "interfered" with aforementioned profiles (see the respective forums for proof of that). I could go on and on, giving examples of how HB has been "degraded" to a support engine for a certain style of profiling. Architecturally wrong.
All that wouldn't be so bad, if only the other profile developers would have been informed about those fundamental changes - somewhere in the the process of project management, this simply has not been addressed. Check the various forums for appalling examples of how surprised the most active and important script developers were, every time something has changed with HB, resulting in crashing the lot.
Honorbuddy is a brilliant concept and the developers deserve all the credit for it. But Bossland should go back to the basics and stop trying to make a few script developers happy by messing with the architecture, undermining the continuity of HB.
Bottom line : Reorganise the project management, reorganise the support forum, take the users seriously, and the most important thing : a script follows Honorbuddy and never the other way around.
I would hate to see Honorbuddy losing its user-base .. lots of complaints - listen to your users.
Happy botting![]()
I think you should be happy that they even designed this bot. Sure it has some flaws, but it does level up nicely from 15 to 80. They could have just said, meeh lets not make any more botbases and you would have nothing to complain about. So I would give them props that they are giving you something to complain. Everyone knows that honorbuddy is half a bot, it's a program that enables people to make their own profiles, everyone knows this. So if you need a SoO script, MAKE ONE and stop bitching. You paid 20 euro for a lifetime subscription, for that sum of money they are doing a fantastic job.
For real bugs Highvoltz are fixing them really fast, like with that jumping thing the last month.
@Person who was talking about 10-25 man raiding with just bots. Aggro-swapping or debuff swapping tanks etc of course its possible, everything is possible. And not especially hard. But meh why bother? Just for the fun of it? I guess that's a valid point
