I believe if you cast lightning warp pre-box opening you still complete the teleport while frozen. But it's a bit more complicated than some people like to think.
I'd imagine it'd have to go something like this:
For lightning warp:
Check for things you need to LW away from(or always LW?)
Get the cast delay for your LW to ensure that you are able to open the box before being teleported
Latency may play a role in this
Be sure you're either positioned right next to the strong box for a predictable open delay or calculate how long it will take you to get there to open it
Determine a safe direction to cast lightning warp. Do we have a position that we know we've recently cleared? Do we want to take beyond portals into account?
Pop the box and hope we've done everything correctly
Smoke mine:
Place smoke mine X distance away from box in the direction that we've approached it from(This could be temporary, if we want a more intelligent way of choosing a safe location)
Run in, activate box. We can pop the mine the moment we think we've opened it or wait for mobs to appear so that we don't keep running back and smoke-mining before its actually open.
Hope for the best =)
So yea, I agree that smoke mine is the best option for this specific instance. But is lightning warp's utility in other situations enough for us to want to use that for strongboxes?
And before you let the bot open the box you may want a setting to alert the person if its a gemcutters or cartographers strongbox so they can roll it. Or have the bot scour/alch or chaos it, or just transmute/alt it.
