[Guide] WitchDoctor SpeedFarm Build (385% Movement Speed, ~3 million DPS)

Very detailed guide, gonna test the CoE+RoRG+Quetzalcoatl build, thanks a lot :)

EDIT: I have amended the original guide to reflect this post.

That would be a good option!
It would be best with the Convention in Cube for Maximum Proc, so Avarice would likely be worn.
  • According to D3Planner removing the F+R rings removes more than half of the DPS of Locust Swarm.
  • However, without the F+R ring, but during a convention proc, it's 40% HIGHER than with F+R active and the +Poison damage.
    • If you're doing higher Torments, the F+R will be better if you have to stop to kill bosses and rare packs often.

...But... Is the Convention better? There are 4 elements on WD, so 16 seconds total to go through them all. In a perfect world, Wormwood would proc the instant it changes to Poison but we know better... So 3 procs every 16 seconds with the extra 200% damage. In keeping with the theme of not attacking, just moving, the convention fits the build better overall.

There are many alternates for that matter...

  • Stone of Jordan and Convention of Elements (As mentioned above)
    • Wearing SoJ and Avarice Band, Cubed the Convention for maximum effect
  • Swampland Wader SoJ build: 20% more Poison on pants, 20% more on Stone of Jordan
    • Avarice and Stone of Jordan on character, RRoG on Cube and Swampland Wader pants instead of Arachyr's pants.
  • SwampLand Wader Convention Build: 20% more poison on pants to work with the Convention Proc
    • Avarice and Convention rings on character, RRoG on Cube and Swampland Wader pants instead of Arachyr's pants.
  • Traveler's Pledge and Compass Rose: for 50% more CHD
    • Traveler's Pledge amulet and Compass Rose ring, Either Convention, Avarice or SoJ in other ring slot/in cube.
  • Traveler's Pledge, Compass Rose, SLW Pants, RRoG 50% CHD, 20% more Poison
    • Traveler's Pledge amulet and Compass Rose ring, RRoG in cube, Avarice on character.
  • etc, etc, etc. You get the idea.

Element Alternatives are there as well. In short, you can put an RRoG into the Cube and swap out any single piece from the 6p Set Bonus. Whether that's a Leoric's Crown, Grin Reaper, MageFists

  • Fire Swarm Use the Swampland Raider setup for Rings and Cube, but instead of changing the Arachyr's Pants, replace the chest with a Cindercoat. You could also do Magefists instead of the Chest.
  • Use Avarice Band on character with a Fire SoJ or use Convention of Element's. Change Locust Swarm to Fire Rune [Searing Locusts]. Might as well consider adding Wall of Death: Firewall in this case.

Other Alternates:

  • Using a Quetzecoatl in the Cube and Creeping Death as a passive in the original build or the Ring Alternates
    • Or you could wear the Quetzecoatl, cube the RRoG, wear the Avarice Band along with SoJ/Convention.
    • ...You get the idea
  • More Movement Speed: Drop Corpse Spiders for Horrify: Stalker and use Rachel's Ring of Larceny
  • More DPS: You can pickup an additional 10% damage by trading out the Krelm's Belt for a Witching Hour.

Here is the D3Planner used for all of the following information:
http://www.d3planner.com/100085540

In the end, what's important is your sustained DPS on the mobs that you are passing by. You want the Wormwood proc as high as it can go for as long as it can be. This is why I insisted on putting Hexing Pants of Yan into the mix. We are always moving, its 20% of free DPS that we don't have to stop to maintain it.

Let's remember some things while looking at this next section:
  • Pants are almost always on their proc if you're truly zerging.
  • Bastions can have 2 procs.
    • One will be on relatively often.
    • The other one is rarely on unless you're stopping to attack a high HP enemy.
  • Convention of Elements maximum potential is 200% additional damage for 4 of every 16 seconds
    • Your Wormwood procs every second, meaning that it's more likely less that 4 seconds per 16.
    • If you're wearing the Convention, it's likely less than a 200% boost on proc due to RNG.
  • Witching hour is used to demonstrate how sheet DPS affects your Wormwood proc.

Quetzacoatl Builds:

When you look at the stats below, you shouldn't be surprised that the Quetzacoatl doubles the DPS of the other build on the Wormwood proc. Afterall, it causes Haunt and Locust Swarm to deal their damage in half the time.

Also, while the Wormwood proc is increased, these builds do drop the DPS of all non-Locust skills.

awesome! please attach this to the OP or 2nd post on first page! would be awesome!

great breakdown!

If anyone wants to help with the .CS files, we could use a few changes:

  • Do not cast Locust Swarm at all (We are only using it for the rune changes)
    • Its a waste of resources, more importantly, it's slows down our movement.
    • We don't even need this vs. elites because the wormwood will reapply it every second.

  • Do not cast Corpse Spiders unless Mana is under 20%
    • Same as the issues with Locust Swarm, killing off movement speed.

  • Soul Harvest only cast when there are 5 enemies within it's radius of 18 yards
    • Also turn off anything that would cause it to cast near elites.
    • We only want it cast where there are 5 enemies in range, regardless of type.

  • Only cast FireBats against elites
    • Currently it will stop to cast it against other enemies from time to time.
    • The costs us movement speed

  • Angry Chicken only explode vs. Elite packs.
    • Exploding against anything else is a complete waste of time and movement speed.
    • Explosion should require elite pack to be within 12 yards at most.
    • Often times it explodes to use other skills it shouldn't be using like Locust Swarm and Firebats.

Essentially this will turn it into Zerg mode all of the time.

If someone was to change Firebats to another skill, that skill would have to be modified similarly but just looking for ways to make it faster.

Thoughts?

Replace this WitchDoctorCombat.cs

I've not tested but should work as you've described. Let me know if you need any fixes/improvements :)

Edit: Oh and great guide! I've been using Hell/Sage's/Manajuma combo for DB farming (300-400 an hour) but once I get this gear will test out for comparison.

A suggestion would be for users to have seperate DB folders with this .cs file in as it may have adverse effects on other builds. Once it's been fine tuned I could add in an option in settings to enable/disable these changes. Lemme know :)

This modified combat file is working pretty fine ! thank you !

There is a bug with chicken form, on certain bounties (like : [Adventurer][Bounty] Completed Clear the Flooded Cave (346071) Time 00:05:46) the worms doesn't appear and stay underground when we are in chicken form so it takes very long time, and sometimes inactivity timer tripped

Awesome! I will use it when I do more testing for an optimal Death Breath setup (Currently leaning towards a pet build for doing higher grifts without needing to stack a lot of toughness).

Edit;

Overall Angry chicken seems to blow up less than before.

For some reason it has a fascination with casting Corpse Spiders now. When a goblin is on screen, it will attack with nothing but that one skill (it should probably be casting FireBats). It will often still blow up the Angry Chicken on mobs, usually within small groups. I basically have my trash set to 0 radius and 15 trash mobs for triggers.

During elite fights it seems to get confused more now about kiting vs. coming back to DPS. I will probably have to do more testing and mess around with it a bit to figure out why.

It's something that I have noticed as well. The Arachyr's set has 2 shortcomings that I have noticed...

The toad swallows things that you might need to kill (this will be hotfixed by Blizzard)
The Spider causes underground enemies to not come above ground (There is more than one type).

The only thing that I have been able to do is manually spam corpse spiders off screen when toad is not up (causes queen to move to where you're spiders are going). Then when the underground beasty comes above ground my wormwood basically insta-kills it.

DB farming should be done in normal rifts (T6+ being the highest one you can clear in the same time period (4-5mins for me on T9)).

Let me know any tweaks you may need and/or if a new trinity comes out and you need the changes done again :)

Yeah I am currently testing the Pet Build listed here: [LINK] D3 Planner - Angry Chicken SpeedFarm Build

So far the clear timers are pretty good. There are 8 Fetishes and 15 fetish sycophants, 1 spider queen as a pet, and 1 as a non-pet. With all of the buffs up and 45% Fetish Army damage on gear, standing in BBV with near perfect gear:
The 8 Fetishes from Fetish Army do 2.8 billion DPS.
The 15 Fetish Sycophants should do about 5 billion DPS (They buffed them in patch to match rune and benefit the exact same from gear as Fetish Army)
So 7.8 billion DPS on the fetishes alone. OFC that is in a perfect scenario, but effective DPS in D3 Planner is 27 million fully buffed.

I am testing it with Acid Cloud: Lob Blob Blob to help better trap enemies when using the nemesis bracers.

If Gearswap was working, then swapping the Nemesis and First Coil of the Spider would be Best in Slot when using Firebats (nearly invincible)

I am toying around with the idea of using Fetish Sycophants for a passive, changing the belt to a goldwrap, then changing out a gem for Boon of the Hoarder.

Sounds promising.

Are you currently looking for speed Gr's for shards/xp (55-60), normal rifts or DB farming?

For GR's no boon of the hoarder as mobs drop nothing,
For Rifts/Bounties max movespeed of course,
For DB you need 2 sage parts with RoRG, honestly it makes a huge difference so give it a go.

I'm slightly confused as to what you're working towards currently :p

EDIT: Seems that D3planner has no Fetish summon option (belt or skill) Unless I'm missing something?!

There are multiple builds on the planner, they are in the bottom left of the screen. You can click on them, the last one is the pet build I am testing now.

The pet build is netting me around 350 DB an hour on T7 GRifts. My gear is far from optimal currently as I started a new account to start multiboxing. My sheet DPS unbuffed is only 1.4 million in the pet configuration as this character only has 25-30 hours played on it.

Thanks for the info on the boon and all that jazz, I already knew all that ;). This thread was originally a speed farming low torment build page, then after doing testing and playing around it started to grow to include several "speedfarm" builds for either bounties or normal rifts depending on material or DB farming, gear level, what items are available.

That's why the D3Planner went at the top of the first post, so that people could parouse a few different builds. Perhaps I should just redo this thread and make separate threads for each build.

Overall, I have found that the Quetzacoatl build nets me around 43-45 bounties an hour which is pretty darn good compared to other builds I have tried. I have yet to test those builds in higher torments extensively.

The Pet build is getting me 350 DB an hour with crappy gear, which is close to what I was getting with a near perfect 4p Helltooth and Sages. So far it's been promising as the pets seem to hit like a truck and my only limitation right now with crappy gear is sustainability. We will see how it does once I gear up more

--

Edit: With pet built and Harringtons it's pretty face roll for higher torments if you can stack enough sustain for T10. 5 billion on 8 fetish + 9 billion for sycophants = 14 billion DPS on fetishes with full buffs. Interesting in theory, but unfortunately the passive doesn't do nearly as good a job of keeping fetishes at max. Farewell Harrington :(

what the purpose of this build? is it good for exp or farming mats and keys?

Ive been using a similar build to this my self and i thought it was annoying that it kept using Locust Swarm over Firebats all time since we are running with Wormwood anyways so i made a change to WD combat...

Should be on line around 507~ could change depending on what trinity version your using (there is 2 of them but you only need to change that 1 cause the other one is for jade harvester set)
This makes so it wont use Locust Swarm if (Manajuma set + Wormwood) is equipped
Set firebat to range ~20 to make sure bot is inrage for the wormwood i think its 20 yards for it seems to work well for me atleast
Code:
// Locust Swarm
                if (CanCast(SNOPower.Witchdoctor_Locust_Swarm) && Player.PrimaryResource >= 300 && (!Sets.ManajumasWay.IsEquipped && !Legendary.Wormwood.IsEquipped) &&
                    !SpellTracker.IsUnitTracked(CurrentTarget, SNOPower.Witchdoctor_Locust_Swarm) && LastPowerUsed != SNOPower.Witchdoctor_Locust_Swarm)
                {
                    return new TrinityPower(SNOPower.Witchdoctor_Locust_Swarm, 12f, CurrentTarget.ACDGuid);
                }

This build is insane, I've been watching my bot, well bot for half an hour and I'm stunned. Sick!

My only problem if anything would be how it handles elite pack powers. When arcane appears it's like it trying to get hit by it and same with plenty of the other stuff. I'm a real rookie so might I ask for a screendump of someone else's settings perhaps?

EDIT: Also which merc goes best with this build?

thanks

what the purpose of this build? is it good for exp or farming mats and keys?
I was trying to figure that out myself, the only applications I can think of are farming mats or bounties. My gear isn't perfect but I can only run around T7/Grift35 before it starts to slow down. It's fun to watch but aside from leveling gems I can't really see why you'd run it over helltooth/manajuma (I prefer farming t10 keys for increased multidrop). I should mention I'm running the max speed build, do people have good results when running a higher damage version?

I dont really see the point of this build. Bot is unable to do malthael T7 at all. With other settings I can do GRifts 50+ in less than 5 mins, but with this setup and almost full ancient gear I cant even do bounties, which is the only porpuse it may have. What am I doing wrong? Got all the settings configured as suggested in the original post.
