[GUIDE] VMware + D3 | they way it shoud be done

Hmmm, well i did the batch file for DB but now im having another issue. When it launch DB an error comes:

"The exception unknown software exception (0xe0434352) occured in the application at location 0x7579b760"

Could be invidual plugins or something. If it doesnt work, just keep DB in VMware without using DB over network and linking it.

Mio Dio, io sono un idiota.. I didnt install .NET again after the format ><

OK! Confirmed working, and with 3.1 gb on the disk! Thanks so much for the guide man ;)

PS One thing you forget to mention.. for each clone, you have to go and manually re-enable the network sharing in VMware Options (with VM shutdown).

Is it wise to change the HWID of the shared folder partition? (Z:\ by default)
Or blizz gets only your local hardware id of your system hdd?

To Raoul:

The guide exactly does the same what you're going to achieve.
I probably used a little confusing terminology.
Here is quick tip,
VMguest = virtualized pc
VMhost = physical pc

Ill update the guide with terminology and if you dont mind Ill use your schema as a reference to the rest in my post.
OK tanks for the clarification. Feel free to use my schemas ;-)

anybody doing this guide with 4GB+ RAM ?

thinking of running 3+ D3/DB so it will need more RAM/CPU

thank you very much for the guide, this thread has been very helpful.

i've ran into an issue though. when i load up my copy of DB it always crashes, before i can even enter a key. i have .net framework 4.0 , but im not sure what im doing thats causing the crashing. win 7, and ive tried both networked db and a local downloaded fresh copy of db.

any help would be greatly appreciated

In host VM you will see a Z: drive with all folders you need, with names
Diablo III
Diablo III - Demonbuddy
Battle.net

hmmm what i did wrong? i don't see any z: drive

Did you do it?

VMguest settings, next tab of Hardware > Options > Shared Folders
Check Always enabled and map as network drive:

yes :( where to check for that z drive? in my computer folder? sorry for asking i try to use vm for the first time

i can't make it work :( so i decide to copy the diablo 3 folder to VMguest.... but when i run diablo II.exe it stucks forever at "updating setup files" i cant't run it from a copy in vmguest? is it possible only from runing it via network from vm host like you said on your guide?
