Custom DH M6 & Wizard Wand of Woh

Why not set the kite trigger range to something like 30-40? Wouldn't that make the DH move further away from the monsters and thus be more safe?

Edit: Using only your modified DemonHunterCombat file it looks like it's working great. Great avoidance it seems. Is the entire custom trinity needed?

Like I said in the main post, I only listed the settings I use as a reference. You can set the settings to whatever you want and experiment with it. I only need it to kite far away enough so that I'm not in melee range and can benefit from Steady Aim. I do greater rifts by hand and at this point, T6 rifting and other farming isn't dangerous enough for me to use a higher kite distance. If I die, it's generally due to unfortunate accidents like running into arcane lasers and what not.

You shouldn't need to use the modified DemonHunterCombat.cs if you're using default Trinity 2.1.18 or higher because the things I removed was also removed in those versions. You don't need to use my custom Trinity if you're only using DemonHunterCombat.cs.

Ugh no matter what I try I can't get it to stop facetanking mobs on my M6 cold DH. it does kite and vaults away but then immediately after runs right back into the middle of packs to attack them.

I'm using the newest DB Beta and have tried Trinity 2.122 default, the 2.121 posted here as well as older versions.

My Settings:
Combat Misc
Give higher priority to health globes - unchecked

Path Around Aoe - Checked
Attempt to Avoid AoE - Checked
Avoid Savage Beast Charge - Checked
Avoid AoE out of combat - Checked
Kite to avoid death - Checked
Attack mobs in aoe - UN checked
Avoid fire chains - checked

DemonHunter Combat Settings
Potion - 35
Globe health % - 55
Kite Trigger range - have tried sliding all the way from 0 up to 40, doesnt seem to notice much of a difference...

When to Kite/Flee - Always in Combat
Vault Movement Delay -1500
When to use vault - in combat only

For avoidances, I've tried pumping the radius all the way up to see if it will avoid more. Considering I get one shot by pretty much everything I really need to make sure I'm not getting hit.

Any ideas? It's getting pretty frustrating watching this thing continually trying to run into melee range of mobs.

A couple of weeks ago, someone said that they had to disable all options that gave higher priority (shrines & health globes, not sure if there's anything else). There are some settings that you listed that differ from mine.

My settings:
Attack Mobs in AoE: checked
Kite to Avoid Death on Low HP: unchecked

You can also try the following from post #5:
In Trinity Settings > Items > Pickup - Check the following: Ignore Gold in AoE, Ignore Non-Legendary in AoE, Ignore Non-Legendary near Elites, Ignore Gold Near Elites
I doubt this is the reason why it does what it's doing but it can't hurt to try.

As far as these go, I'm not sure what else to tell you because I haven't seen my DH actually run into mobs. On occasion it may stand close to mobs (trash mobs) that have walked toward my character but ends up correcting it self eventually by either kiting or vaulting away.

Yeah I forgot to mention that I've already checked all those boxes on pickup. These options aren't the issue anyways, since I only do GRifts.

I did disable the options that gave higher priority already, forgot to mention that as well.

I have no clue what else to look for but this is getting pretty frustrating. It seems like it always wants to move in to try and attack, not sure why it just doesnt stay at range. So basically it just keeps pingponging back and forth... runs in and attacks (or gets 1 shot) and then runs away to try and kite.

Does the rift profile matter or is all combat handled 100% through trinity?

The profile shouldn't affect combat.

I've attached the Trinity.xml file that contains all my settings. You can try this but I don't know how this'll work as I've never done this before.

Make a backup of DBDirectory\Settings\ (if you're using global settings) or DBDirectory\Settings\BattleTag (if you're using per battle tag settings) and replace the Trinity.xml with mine. If anything, you can probably just replace both directories with my Trinity.xml and be fine.

If you do this, just remember you'll be getting the same settings that I use and it may not be to your liking. Just trying to see if it really has something to do with settings or not.

Just tried it, I see that it modified my trinity settings but I'm still dive bombing in game so no luck.

Alright, well, this is last ditch effort to try to get this to work.

Using a fresh DB Beta and QuestTools 2.1.40 and Trinity attached. Don't copy any settings or whatever over.

I merged 2.1.22 with my changes earlier.

I tested this with a level 31 Grift last night and it worked fine. It completed it before the 15min timer was up. So, it at least works for me. If this still doesn't work, then I'm not sure what to tell you at that point because I've never had this problem. If I don't actually experience the problem, it's rather difficult to fix it.

Well I certainly appreciate the help but still no luck. I just downloaded newest beta into a fresh folder, deleted the trinity folder that was there by default and copied in the new trinity folder. Load up the profile and it still rushes right in. Apparently my character is just suicidal...

I just noticed that you also said this happens with default Trinity? If this problem happens with both default and my custom Trinity then it has to be something else.

Are you using a build besides the one in the main post? There may be a skill you have that's trying to be used in melee range. Aside from this, I have no other idea what could be happening.

Edit: I just took a quick glance and I don't think any skill activation would cause you to run into melee. Sorry I couldn't get this to work for you.

running on latest version of trinity... working amazing.. my m6 DH has stopped face tankin mobs and actually kites and uses his sentries fr what they're made for... awesome work!

No clue why its not working for me then. Are people actually using this at a reasonable difficulty? I can easily facetank t6 or rifts all the way up to grift 30 or so but I really dont count that.

my toon is a pretty fresh DH... but i'm doing T6 content, trying to farm some unities up at the moment to reduce the damage i take, because some abilities still have the potential to one shot me.

wont lie, sometimes he still has issues getting out of bad stuff and sticks around a lot longer than he should... and sometimes still gets all up in the face of the mobs i'm killing, instead of staying at range (not always just sometimes...)

but for the most part it works pretty good

Edit - realised that "always kite in combat" had changed itself somehow.. put it on, he doesnt facetank mobs anymore

Sorry for the late response. Anyway, don't worry about older DB betas. I'm testing this with DB Beta .496, QuestTools 3.0.6 and latest Trinity as of this post. After some quick runs, I will update the main post with an updated version of Trinity.

Edit -- Just in case anyone doesn't see, a new Trinity download is attached to the main post. Let me know if it's working.

Thanks mate, would it also be possible for you to upload a complete zip of your DB install so we have 100% accuracy in settings? Just make sure you remove your key from the GlobalSettings.xml file.

Just a short "thank you" for your work, Trinity's now playing Marauder DHs as they should be played. =)
