So i found out what the problem was -.-"

turns out, my friend had refunded the key (through Paypal)because his didn't load properly - so it was letting me in because the key was still valid, but not letting me continue because the key was not valid.. does that make sense? anyway.. i brought my own key - three day trial - because i wasnt sure this was the problem and it works fine now

Time to get on with some empire profiles, son, if all goes well they should be up and running by Saturday afternoon, NZST
