Buddy Team and Star Wars: The Old Republic

SWTOR is an entirely different beast to Rift, or WoW. The amount of nonsense required to do even the smallest tasks is quite annoying. (Unlike WoW, where you can get a unit's health consistently, in SWTOR there's many different edge-cases you need to work around to ensure you get a proper value, which causes all the little bugs)

Either way, the bot is nearing open beta stages. Almost all the "little bugs" have been worked out, and there seem to be no more "big bugs" left to fix.

I'll put it this way, we're now able to (almost) fully AFK 1-10 on the entire republic side of SWTOR. That is not something we've had in a bot release yet.

so you just saying the bot just going to work from 1-10 the rest is history?

thank you, Apoc. Now that's information I can actually believe in.

With that being said, why don't you just release the bot for the beta? Maybe some of the beta users will actually help you figure out how to fix the little bugs that are occurirng? Isn't that what a beta is for? I'm willing to bet the beta users will be able to produce a few more bugs you guys didn't anticipate either.

Having a very slightly bugged beta is better than having nothing at all. Just say up front what the small bugs are and noone can come back and say that they weren't warned.

Just look at Honorbuddy...It's still buggy as shit and you still have thousands of subscribers

no that's not what he's saying

he's saying that the bot is awesome enough to do 1-10 off the line... and the profiles come with

i also have 1-50 scripted (consular - light. 1-30 consular - dark). But it's not 100% working like the 1-10's are (as i just scripted it while i ran it manually)

lvl 50 dailies - easily developed. i think cng is doing them now

Kickazz Thank for the info.

actually you're right about the part that a beta will show up new bugs that weren't anticipated. but releasing a beta with already known bugs won't help there. cuz it will prolly only get them so much feedback from where like 80% are bugs that they're already aware of (if not even more) so going through the "bug reports" will cost them even more time reading.
this time could be better used to fix new bugs instead of reading about those they're already aware of.

in my opinion the best beta is a beta where the dev team is at 0 known bugs. even if it takes a bit more time to get there.

@ Everyone - we're really trying to get it out there... but we don't want to release a shit product... and that's why it's taken so long. =(

Hopefully soon

The sooner you release.. the faster you will be able to find/fix bugs! ;)

well we had major stability issues where it kept closing the client is why it took forever to do stuff, major mesh issues, major everything. SWToR is not a friendly game to dev a bot for lol :(

Kick, you aren't telling us something. If your minor bugs are making your product "shit" then they aren't minor bugs. Either you are having bugs enough that the product is "shit" or you can release it to the public and let us decide how minor the bugs are.

your link is broken, it does nothing but take you right back to your post

That's direct. Kinda makes sense, But regardless NOW they are making progress, and there just working on the minor things. It's not kicks decision when the bot get released tho.

Broken link.

Edit: So you wanted the link to redirect to here.
The Major issues mentioned 1 page back. Now are resolved. Client close, mesh issues, extra. ?

In all seriousness guys, we're trying to push it out. I'll see if Hawker can reply in here with a time!

I say: Don't do it. Don't give a time! "When it's done" is the only time that you can guarantee and if Hawker now gives a time and then another issue pops up, there'll be more whining again.

don't worry about guys like ryftobuddy. all of us know that we can trust hawkers and apos judgement. release the bot for open beta when you think it's ready. nobody wants an unfinished test here... everybody should be aware of what may happen if a produkt isn't ready.

Apparently, with all the free months etc, I still have 100 days of game time... you guys may still have a shot at my money

I think you guys should release when the product is ready, no one wants a ban, but I do think maybe letting a few more people beta test would be a good idea -> at least then there would be a few people who could talk about the bot if that is allowed.

I understand what it takes to do this (IDA PRO anyone?), and am already very impressed with the work I have seen from you guys in the past, but the delays make people grumpy so it is probably better to keep things quite than make another promise that may not be kept.
