Report him.

Don't bot at all for 2 weeks. Play by hand. Yeah let the GM whoever investigate the situation -they will anyway when this scumbag reports you (he will regardless) -the GM will maybe see playing by hand. Maybe the GM will have logs too see you botted on that BG (I doubt it -personal opinion).

Here's why: paying him = 1.) you're confirming you bot 2.) you automatically give this scumbag leverage over you 3.) *he* is breaking the terms of conduct by blackmailing you, it's against policy.

So you play it correctly then you'll come out ok: act as if you were innocent. What would you do if you were innocent? You'd report his sorry ass. Maybe after this is all over (like a month from now) you might want to name change... because the scumbag might stalk you if he bares a grudge.

BUT FOR GODS SAKE: Remove the letter or at least blur out names!!! GMs most likely check these forums. Your thread confirms you botting so remove the screenshot!

TL: DR remove that screenshot!

Or can a mod please remove it?

he only had one post, chances are he leaked the toon name on purpose. not hard to fake a screenshot.

Yeah don't bot 2 weeks problem solved.

Seriously nobody here knows how blizzard is solving their anticheat issues. What if they check player several times during 6 month? What if they flag account based on reports and keep it in somekind checklist. These type of issues take time to deal.

Here is real issue:

He can't bot safely next 6 months. That's it. I allready said delete toon, but that might grow bigger suspicious. So I suggest starting new acc alltogether if you care about that account. Or stop botting for very long time.

Personally I bot 3 toons atm on different ip while my safe acc is rich as hell trading with them only trough ah. If I get reported I don't give a shit as I don't lose anything + I can change ip. But people who don't do like this (majority) they have everything to lose.

lol that sounds like a serious overkill.

There is always room for more comedy in ban section.

I actually suspected he might have leaked the screenshot, possibly trolling who knows really but I would warn people still not to post images of names in case they were being legit, I hate to see people get banned and I especially dislike people who report others. I had a similar issue of a guy accusing me for botting because I would not carry him through particular content until he had better gear, he tried to blackmail me with the bot naming just a coincidence I was botting ;D, but he had no way of knowing I was botting, I certainly gave him no leads or indication I was a bot then I said good luck pal and thanks for harassing me I'm off to report you also see you around:) 2 years + still going strong with honor buddy, best bot on the market:)

A GM would have to catch you in the act to actually ban you.
You know, that long text that gets shown once in a while before you login? it's also shown when you create an account?
It's the EULA, basically says;
Blizzard are the gods,
We are the minions,
Enjoy it while it lasts.

They can smite you with a banhammer for no reason, whenever they want to.

This happened to me back in 2010, albeit it was because of grinding in a spot for hours, not battlegrounds.

The worst thing you could have done was make this thread and post that screenshot. Even though it's very unlikely that a GM would ever discover your post, it's still an easy way to shoot yourself in the foot.

My advice, like other replies have said is, don't negotiate or pay up, stop botting for a week or two, and open a ticket saying a random player is trying to take advantage of you with false accusations. If the GM questions you about the
botting, NEVER admit to what you're alleged to have done, or any knowledge you may have about botting. Your best option would be to act dumb and hope for the best.

Next time just use a CR and play battlegrounds by hand. Never leave your bot unattended if you don't want to risk your account. Whenever you bot around many players your chances of getting caught skyrockets because most of the bans are a result of people reporting you. In my opinion, not worth it even if you can afford to the lose the account.

I just reported the blackmailer first and never got banned. The GM should take your side if you don't give them any reason to not trust you. He's the one blackmailing you, emphasize on that.

I hope you can resolve this without getting a ban. Best of luck! :P

I am aware. But that doesn't mean the GMs can do whatever he/she feels like.
A case of this GM "abuse" would be for example if one of my 10 accounts gets reported for botting, the GM checks it out and he also notices I have 9 other accounts running on the same IP/HWID then he might just ban them all while he is at it.

I'm 98.4% confident a GM will NOT just ban a player because someone said he allegedly botted or did something wrong. As far as I'm concerned a GM can get fired for abusing his/hers powers in such ways.

The pure stupidity and lack of sense in this post...and actually the entire thread...makes my head hurt.

The best thing you can do in any situation when you get whispered by anyone concerning botting is to simply put them on ignore and move on. This shows you were there to see they whispered and you took action. If they're really going to report you, you're already screwed...so why make it worse?

Just ignore the bastard. If he keeps pushing you, report him. As Staffix stated, Blizz don't take kindly on blackmailing. So don't worrie to much about it.

It was not a whisper.. It was an in-game mail.

Also I don't see why my arguments are "stupid" I've been doing this for long enough to have some sort of idea on how Blizzard operates.
Either explain your allegations, or keep quiet.

You're dead wrong that a Blizz employee can't and won't take any action they want on an account. The initial report would be enough excuse for them to review and ban any account that is associated with the reported account. This isn't "abuse", this is thorough investigation. The ToS, which everyone agrees to, gives that Blizz rep the ability to take any action, at any time, for any reason they see fit. A GM isn't abusing their powers by banning yours or anyone else's account. They're using the exact powers that were granted to them when they were given the job.

I know it sucks to hear, but anyone that has delusions that a Blizzard employee is abusing their power by taking action on a report, and then doing further investigation and banning additional accounts is in for a real surprise when you find out that that is actually what they were hired to do.

And how did you come to that conclusion? You're saying that a person that gets a job as a GM is just granted the ability to ban people without reasonable doubt? ONE player report is most likely not enough to just ban a guy... And in my opinion I don't think that looking through whatever they are logging would show any sort of proof that the person was botting in battlegrounds (in this case).

Maybe you remember the GM that came forward and participated in a AMA on Reddit a while back. I believe he said something along the lines of "There is nothing like getting a player report, jumping in the game, and catching the cheater red-handed" which makes me believe this is whats required for blizzard to "seal the deal" on a ban.

Friends of mine (that play the game legit) have reported rogues running pick pocket 24/7 several times, and they still run to this day when the reports are ~two months old, yet the GMs say that EVERY report is looked into closely.
Makes me wonder...

Again.. total speculation. Personally I don't think they are hired to just IP ban as many people that bot as possible. If they find a botfarm, then of course they are right to bann all accounts connected to that IP, even though some legit players might be hit in the progress. I guess they don't care for collateral damage.
