Ban Theories and Ban Waves

There hadnt been any ban reports for like a week , and today we got ban reports again. I want to share the theory that maybe we didnt have bans the last days because DB was unstable , so ppl couldnt run the bot for 30 hours straight. Now DB got fixed , ppl started running for lots of hours non stop with not even 1 logout and that got em banned .

Just a theory, but strengthens my belief that running non stop for like 30 hours might be the main ban cause atm

I think it's because they 1 - Flag accounts, 2 - gather additional stats, 3 - manually review and ban. It seems that they usually do step 3 Wed-Friday however, they probably have some folks that hit up step 3 here and there on any given day.

I'm sure they flag accounts due to hours/day games/hour etc. But those alone will not get you banned. They are definitely finding humanly impossible patterns and using that as the basis for bans. Things like the exact same delay between keystrokes, exact same delay between teleport to town and exit game. No delay or the exact same delay when identifying items. This is why I keep bringing up the need for randomization for everything and making sure all tasks are being done the way a human would.

ban

hehe:D i got hit;) me main barbarian banned:D gl guys with d3 i go again bot on wow with HB:D

seems most of the bans were 20+ hours/7 days a week

You think ppl would be scared by now to do that

well my main account that i havent used to bot AT ALL also got banned.. so i cant really see a pattern

Hawk said that the DB bot will either crash or become unusable if Warden detects it. That's fine, but I think Blizzard has a different purpose here. They don't want Warden to detect DH and then autoban everybody that have ever used the bot because then that won't be profitable in Blizzard's eyes. Instead, they have a method of detecting us and ban some of us every once in a while. They hope that whenever we get banned, we would buy new D3 accounts because we are still under the belief that DB is not detected. This way is a lot more profitable for Blizzard.

You agree to Blizzard rules when you sign up your account. So, that means you will allow them to collect information about your computer. So, I think that Warden (at least for D3) isn't designed for a special purpose and that's not to "detect" the Demonbuddy bot. Instead, it will collect information about your PC (program files, caches, etc...) and then send to Blizzard's servers. On Blizzard's side (not Warden), their automation system will search for such strings... e.g. "bot", "gold", "demonbuddy", etc. If such a string is found, your account will become auto-flagged. Then your flagged account will be sent to the GMs' department for further inspection. With this method, it is impossible for DemonBuddy or even Warden to know whether or not Demonbuddy program is detected, because this method is very very generic and subtle.

This trick is quite similar to how VAC system (Valve Anti-Cheat) works. In a VAC-enabled game, if a 3rd party program (aimbot, etc.) is detected, VAC won't ban you but instead they will ban you after a certain time (ranging from 24 hours to weeks or even months) - because they want to confuse you; making you feel more unsure... about which hack causes your ban and then you probably will make a fresh Valve account and hack again.

Just a theory.

I'll say it this week. BANHAMMER IS COMING! Just got error 3006's on my bots and couldn't create new game so i'll take it as a warning sign and close my bots for tonight!

I'm quite confident it has to do with patterns in crashreports you send.

why blizz isnt banning too many accounts post 1.04? because we generate mad profit for them

Ive read a lot of ban reports from the very start and they have banned people for basically everything now. From botting a couple of hours a day to 24/7, different profiles, plugins etc.
It seems like they have very good detection, I just dont think they ban everyone at the same time, they let some of us slide. They do this so it will be harder for us to figure out how we got detected. In the beginning a lot of people were using autoit to bot sarkoth and noone got banned untill they started to hit rly hard like 5-6 weeks ago. Before that a lot of people got banned using DB tho, so it wouldnt suprise me if they can detect DB. They just dont wanna ban everyone at the same time making it obvious it is detected. And as I said before they do this so its harder for the DB team to notice it or fix it so it wont get detected.

Otherwise how do you explain that absolutly no autoit users got banned in the beginning but a lot of DB users got hit

This could be the case but I dont think they would risk it. A leak from one of their employees would destroy the company.

If this is the case tho, expect to meet a big ban wave soon. It needs to be a balance between demand and supply and now when the demand is dropping, supply needs to drop aswell in order to maximize the profit

I'm quite confident it has to do with patterns in crashreports you send.

I think I had over 200 crashes the first week when the devs were fixing DB for the patch. So it doesnt seem likely

you should go to ownedcore and read their ban report section , ppl only using autoit for sarkoth was getting banned at same time

and if blizz can detect Db why they try to stop it tru court ? they can just ban X amount of the users each day/week/month making the bot look bad and detectable so ppl stop using it , reality is after most obvious bots got banned , sarkoth 24/7 >.> or 60 lvl toon farming NM act3 all the time , ppl stop to bot or moved to champ farming and blizz have hard time detecting it ( atleast i hope so :D )

When I used autoit I read on OC and BH for ban reports everyday. In the beginning only paid bots gots banned like HB, DB and IM or people using autoit scripts that would inject data. I looked on those forums everyday and never saw a ban untill everyone started getting banned. If they would ban everyone using DB at the same time they would give away a lot of information on what they detect it on, giving the DB devs info that can help them avoid it. Thats why they fight it in court cus they want it gone forever. My 2 cents.
