This is not a workable solution. Please let us know when you come up with one.

Ignore my post I called myself a retard after finishing reading through all the posts

I dont know if this is for the entire Comcast network but at least where I live you cannot just remove the power cord/bat from the modem you have to change the Mac address to the device connecting to the modem. If you dont change the MAC address it will just keep assigning you the same address. If you are using a router it should be easy to do just log into the router (if you dont know how do a google search or read you manual) and enable Mac Address cloning. then remove the power from your modem (power cable and battery) once the modem restart the Comcast DHCP server will see that you have a different MAC address and assign you a new IP address.

If you don't believe me check out this DSLreports FAQ http://www.dslreports.com/faq/7775

just go into your router and search for the mac adres, thats what I did. disabled it and then unplugged the modem.

Dont just disable it, make sure it comes back on :P

And its usually in the router config as "Clone MAC Address"

according to your last official statement, tony, sending pm to bossland is fun... his mailbox is full. another option?
