Numerous vague statements from blizzard mentioned that legendarys would be buffed in the next patch, which could be tonight. It was also mentioned by blizzard that legendarys SHOULD be ?outright better? than yellows. It's reasonable to assume this would also include craftable legendarys. It would follow that the price of fiery brimstones should rise drastically.

- The demand for them fiery brimstones drastically increase as all legendary plans could potentially produce endgame or optimal gear sets

- The supply of fiery brimstones will take a hit, because if legendarys are actually usable/sellable less of them will be salvaged for brimstone.

Thoughts?

Disclaimer: Just purchased 1000 fiery brimstones for just under 200mil. If you buy more in NA price goes up for me :P

im about 99% positive that they said they wouldnt buff the current ones, but just buff future drops

gay, atleast i have a bunch that i dress my main up in n look cool lol

I would think craftable legendaries would be included in "future drops."

But i guess thats part of the gamble!

anyone who played D2 knows older legendaries are worth quite alot, especially good ones as is, .08 valk is all I got to say ...

BTW why do yu think the new patch is coming out tonight?

Its been awhile, they updated profiles and have been commenting on the forums alot this week.

Just a hunch, but I would hope its at least in the next couple weeks

Well in d2 they made great legendaries then nerfed future drops.

In this case, with d3, its the opposite. (they made crap legendaries)

Yea, I bought 60 when they were worth about 100k a peice. The price has already been rising. There's a few posts about people doing the same on B.net forums and i think i came across one on some D3 website

I bet they buff the salvage rate of rares/magic items chance to find fiery brimstones. I used to find at least 1 a day but they nerfed it. If new legendary plans drop I bet they increase the drop rate of brimstones to go with it.

I cringe at the thought of legendary buffs. What I love about D3 is that rares rule unlike D2 which turned into only runewords and uniques. Everybody had the same bland boring character. There was not really any decision making other than do I use a Shako or can I afford a CoA?

Screw that!

D2 had many amazing rares, fools mod for example... agree chars were mostly runewords and legendaries. Same token you have to consider the scale of how items drop and the "apraised" values, legendaries are meant to drop less and be worth more. Blues being exceptionally better than legendaries is a broken loot system, even if you like rares more. A character was not designed to be decked out in nothing but rares, and for legendaries to only take up bag slots in that it wasnt easy to find one. They are suppose to be that item when they drop your like HOLY shit this is godly, and they have no effect like that, more like... oh great ANOTHER usless legendary. A good balance between both would be nice, so that finding paticular legendaries still is good, just not the norm.

dunno.. they are @ 88k on EU.

if you buy 1000 thats 88mil total. now if the patch gets released tonight (which i doubt) and prices will rise 50% (which i doubt) thats 132k/brimstone.
you sell them for 132mil minus 15% thats 112.5mil.
so you made 24mil profit.

if they dont rise at all youll lose 14 mil.

if price only goes up by 25% you made 5 mil profit.

i wont invest, hence not taking the risk. guess this is about playing the market... who knows what will happen. maybe they will go up by 100% and youll settle yourself with a nice 60+ mil profit. who knows :S

I think the price could more then triple.

Legendary crafting is almost completely worthless on most plans. The helm of command and a couple others are the only ones even worth thinking about crafting and even those aren't that great.

Unless blizzard intended on making all the legendary plans completely worthless, it only makes sense they they would get buffed next patch.

If fiery brimstone could all of the sudden produce endgame gear, it would be a massive price increase -not a small one

You just bought 1000 on NA for just under 200mil? They are at 150k each right now - 1000 of them is only worth 150 mil...

Yeah, if I sold now I would take a pretty big loss.

But this wasn't a short term thing. I'm waiting for the patch, I'm not day-trading fiery brimstones....

Also, I purchased last night, which would have been the last opportunity to buy them at a discounted price if the patch hit.

Since the patch didn't come out, people know they will have another week to buy them and would probably prefer not to have their money tied up on something speculative.

I'm going to be continually buying them until patch time. Keep in mind, I obviously could be wrong, but I think its pretty safe to say this is a +EV trade.

Blizzard today: "The Legendary improvements are going to be for Legendaries dropped or crafted after the 1.0.4 patch goes live."

Price of Brimstone near doubled this morning just based on the news, which is surprising since they've been hinting towards it for a month.

Could sell now for a nice profit, but I think I'm going to hold out till patch time. Pretty big commitment since all my brimstone is spread out on my 4 accounts that are still botting and are all in the top 100 elite kills.

They were up to 300k in EU today, so it went up more then 300%. Im on US but here they were at 350k+ when I dumped them all so got a pretty nice profit. Gonna buy again when they drop some more in price.
