From what I've seen, The detection was done at random pulses over a very wide span of dates.... there is no way they where running the detection all the time- HB staff would have picked up on it..


It could just be luck that you happen to be offline during everyone of those pulses.

I feel the same way. But the method still seems random. I'm starting to feel like there would be Blizzard infiltraters amongst us who would develop plugins / CC content with a char log backdoor. Haha.

Hi HB community.

I'm here just to share my experience on the whole ban wave, what i might have done different compared to others etc.
I started out botting using glider. I've ran my main account in Feralas for hours straight in a 20 square meter spot. That sort of stuff.

When honorbuddy came out, my real life friends already knew i could bot, so they wanted to get onboard, without putting in the work.
Over the course of the time that honorbuddy has been around, i have leveled many characters, geared them up in pvp gear on FOUR different accounts.
All accounts i botted we're main accounts. One being mine, three belonging to people i actually know.

On two of four accounts i leveled 3/4 chars to 90, geared them in pvp , leveled them to 100 , geared them in PVP.
On the other two, i did the occasional night of honor farming for when they we're fed up with losing battleground.
On my own main ( one of the two that got leveled using a bot ) i would farm Ashran for 8 hours staight , like 5 days a week, for a couple of weeks, just to get some spare gold.

Things i NEVER did:

Run the bot without being around.
Run the bot with a BETA version of HB.
Run the bot right after game patches.
Run the bot against advice of HB developers.
Had Battle.net client open while botting. I would ALWAYS launch using the honorbuddy launcher.

Other players did whisper me from time to time saying they reported me for botting after doing some extensive Ashran farming.

Zero out of Four accounts banned.

Im in IT, always been a huge computer nerd, and i would take extra actions to make sure i would bot in a safe way, but never would i have been able to avoid any ram/cpu monitoring.

If anyone could clarify, how could this be luck? All accounts are on different names, payed for with different bank accounts, have a huge difference in game activity. Some pvp, some raid, one has tons of chars, one has only a single main. The only thing the accounts share is being from the same country. The Netherlands EU. Out of all accounts, only mine has not been active for a couple of weeks. The others are still subscribed.

Will keep this post updated when anything changes, i was just hoping to see if anyone is in the same boat. The boat where you are dazzled by not being banned after actively botting for YEARS.

Anyone else from the Netherlands that DID get banned?

I believe it had to do with enyo and some CR's aswell. I remember at least 2 or 3 times that I got disconnected while using a CR with an invalid "lua" error.

ran 2 accounts steady for the week leading up, neither have been banned
used paid profiles
wow launcher window was always closed when botting
always watched them
used bot to level 3 chars to 100 in that week, farm gold via firelands profile, garrison crap, and started origionally using it to farm bg's for gear. also used dungeon buddy as tank even to level from 88-90

I am too not banned.
I stopped playing like 2 months ago.Just returned 2 days ago,i had my Windows removed ( yeah i am a Linux nerd ).I though i am quitting and removed my Windows 8.1 because i only kept it because of HB and WOW.
Right after installed my Windows,WOW,i downloaded HB just to see that it triggered tripwire.Went on forums and omg!To all banned,i feel you,sorry for your loss.
Posting this to say that maybe the months collection data etc is wrong.I was botting like crazy 24/7,raids,dungeons,leveling,fishing,bgs,garisson bot.Everything that HB can offer.And i was doing this for years.Since Dragon Soul if i recall correctly.
Most of my toons are afk leveled with HB either with dungeons or questing,mostly i was either outside or at work or sleeping.My girlfriend has WOW account too,same goes for her - insane,reckless botting.She stopped playing when i did,two months ago.She is not banned either.
So something must been happening in this 2 months window - march-may.But i don't believe they were collecting data for months.More like process listing,cpu monitoring,etc.Even hard drive scan.All of this can happen in two minutes.Anyway,waiting for HB team to get it up and running,without it this game is non sense to be played.

In my guild six people got hammered,me and two others didn't.They wasn't online last couple of weeks aswell.

I am from the Netherlands too. Both accounts got banned May 13th within 10 min of eachother. I only used the bot layely for leveling up characters and daily Garrison stuff. Sometimes I used CR in LFR.

Dutch here, also got banned, 6 months ban. I used garrison buddy, almost certain it is Garrison based bots causing bans.

Did you use Enyo and CRs?

Yups banned too but my suspendend inactive account (72h) seems to be fine and still inactive.


Only had one suspensions when first using the bot. I think that suspended account triggered me as a suspect and got me by the balls with 3 accounts 6month suspension. And i can say honostly that there is a very very small chance i was reported and stuff.
The first suspensions was immediately 72h as it was my fault back in mop

He didn't but i did.It is not certain bot that get you banned.It is certain timeline.I presume saturday-tuesday.That was the time of detections.Everyone i know not banned wasn't playing in this window.

I only used Enyo and a paid combat rotation for raids Tuesdays and Wednesdays for at most 3 hours each day. I was never away from the computer during. The only thing i really lost is game time with my friends.

I botted so recklessly. Even if not for the ban-wave I would have taken a ban soon. I was using HBRelog to keep the accounts running 24/7 without any monitoring.

I'm pretty sure I wanted to be caught. I get no enjoyment from this game any longer. The game was setting up the bot cycle, generating gold, leveling alts... Couldn't tell you the last time I actually did something in the game.

I didn't play those days if I recall it right so I don't think it is a timeline based ban or what so ever.

Being not banned doesn't mean you are not flagged. Sooner or later your account will get 6 month or a closure.

A friend had 3 days suspension for leveling,some moron reported him i guess,and then when his ban was about to expire he got hammered with 6 months reward.So to be honest all is just speculations.
