Yep banned.
Didn't start botting until I began to get bored with the game.
The RNG was driving me nuts, even with the bot running and increasing my odds. Just compare Mara's in D2 with Mara's in D3. That pretty much sums up why I barely felt like playing at all.
Here's to saving some money on my electric bill. My only regret is that I didn't have the will or desire to pull the plug myself, in spite of the fact that I barely touched the game with my own hands in months.
Never was one to bot for profit. The way I see it, I simply saved money with DB, by gearing up through it and not the RMAH. I find absolutely nothing wrong with botting for profit; I'm just a low-risk frugal-family dude, so I don't really delve into that stuff. Props to people that pulled it off. I'm the same way with Ebay; buyer-only, though I want to change that someday.
In hindsight, all the rants I read prior to this, mainly regarding itemization; were spot on. Diablo 2's end-game was playable at a natural, no-extra investment level. Sure, I still botted on that too, after awhile, but after a single night of botting, I could throw together a top of the line build through trades; which speaks volumes. Stone of Jordan, +1 to all skills; vs. Stone of Jordan, plus 1-10 of 1:100 skills, 20-30% bonus vs. elites, etc etc etc (just one small example).
I was banned in D2, and came back soon after. Went legit for awhile, then botted again. Could not stop, not for years. D3? No way in hell. I kind of find this first ban to be a welcome relief.
