Developer Rules Update

Does that mean people who uploaded their own code can now request a complete removal of all files stored on your server, which are subject to that license change?
if you feel like it you can delete them all your self, just click on settings up at the top and attachments on the left hand side and you can delete them all at once. the only thing i ask is that you please pm a moderator with the links to the now useless threads so they can be closed and archived.

Thanks for the info, might help some people to get this done quicker.

I just hope you guys realise how important social developers are to this community, without them this program would be much less than it is.
I also hope that you understand what you are doing in this rule change, and the damage it has already inflicted on the community

Then, any svn isn't allowed? ^^
You should Report kick.
kick now keeps an up to date set of profiles on the forum. He was reported :P

we had a huge discussion about this... so I will keep a semi-up to date .zip on the forum... but constantly updated profiles will still be avail via the SVN as an alternate way to have a bug report fixed right away

It keeps me from having to upload a 1.3mb file 20 times a day for 1 bug fix

And hence why I made the mega profile thread :p

My threads updated with SVN removed. No big deal really. I assume this does not stop members requesting the SVN link via PM?

I think Kick put it pretty well. If people have anything to add to a CC, chances are they'll just suggest it on it's thread instead of just copying it over and adding a line of code.
And Kick only got on the staff recently, his stuff has been on forever, and has never been copied. People just helped him fix it, myself included.

Most people don't want to deal with supporting something and answering twenty times a day to the people that can't follow simple directions...
Again, even if they could, I'm pretty sure no one would just "steal" a project if the developer is active and giving it support.

And to prove my point, (though I'm not gonna pretend to be a developer), from the first day I made my first TSM profile I said people were free to take over and further develop it if they wanted, and while Inrego could have done that, he instead supplied me with code and helped me make it better myself.

With this being as it it's now intended, probably HB will lose some developers, so I do hope that the staff will help new developers find the info they need. Maybe update the wiki, make more comprehensive tutorials...
In the end, when the dust settles, we'll just have people that care more about the community than their epeen or their wallet.

I like the new rule of allowing edits of cc's now just like others have said post it in the original ccs thread or if you are using peoples source code as a templete or base give credit where it is due.

To tge epeen coders crying about the changes yall are why hb dps rotations and stuff lag behind pqr because my god if someone like me fixes your cc and posts it even if i did give all the proper credit i would get flamed left and right.

So i am overly happy about the direction hb is now moving to a way more open source non throat cutting forum/community. Maybe now i will resurface imo.

Also, can we have svn links posted as long as there is at least a zip or cs file hosted on your site as like kick said it is a pain in the ass to always upload fixes but on the end user point of view it is really nice to go down the profile and cc folders and just right click and select update repo and bam. You are updated.

Anyways thanks for the change.

yes, SVN links are fine, as long as there's a copy attached to the thread, and if you would please. make sure you have clear instructions on how to use your svn. and how to install your project. we get lots of support e-mails every day from people who cant figure out how to use an SVN and people who dont want to use one.

I'm not a coder nor a developer but have you thought about this:

If people update a minor thing on a CC and release it with their own project name and give credits. Don't you think that in the long run, the forums will be messed up with maybe 5-10 different versions of the same CC? In a month there will be Original LazyWarrior, LazyWarrior with/without targeting, LazyWarrior with taunt, LazyWarrior without taunt but fear, Lazywarrior latest DPS rotation .....and so on instead of having one nice LazyWarrior CC.

Instead of creating all of these they could just tell the real author all the things and create 1 nice CC that ppl can keep an eye on.

completly agree, i mean ok, download and edit for personal use, fine, but edit and release to public hmm, maybe if the developer of the original project veetoed the update first then released it, maybe that would be better, just my opinion.

Everyone is missing the point. This is mainly for all old and outdated projects where development has STOPPED, CEASED, NOT HAPPENING ANYMORE. This is for the CC's/Plugins/Profile that were great, got broke and the developer that created it said, "I am not updating anymore".

As for all the CC makers that "pulled there CC's and will not distribute them", don't worry, I'm sure most people on the forums have them already, such as I have a giant collection of up-to-date everything on the forums, and will happily be posting this under the new HB Developer Rules.

EDIT1: You honestly think people are going to take an ENTIRE CC then change 1 or 2 numbers, lets say pull distance, and redistribute? No the community wouldn't use, nor support this. Herp, derp, people please use common sense.

Cool. I am sure since the svn thing is cleared up now, the authors that choose to use it will be happy :D

Sorry, but this is WRONG! If you ever read the Dev rules before the update, it clearly stated that abandoned projects are considered "free-to-abuse".

if the original author cared, as those changes come out, he could roll those community made changes back into his project if he liked. or say the guy who made the first one left, if you see 10 warrior lazy raider CC's and you decide, "hey all these kinda suck, i wanna make an awesome one" as long as you gave the credit you could roll them all into one awesome working CC. it works both ways.

look at me and fpsware, when i started here, i tried leveling a mage with fpsmage, and it sucked, there was 3 seconds in between casts and it didnt work like it was suppose to. so i took another project and converted it into a mage CC, and i from then on i learned to code, if me trying hard to out do fpsware created healthy competition and forced me to stay diligent in what other people where doing, and how they accomplished certain tasked, and with that i learned to code.

if this is your hobby and you like doing it, your going to wanna keep making it better, the only difference now is that the community and people just coming in who wants to code also gets to try and help you make your project better.

but what about the current projects, that have been removed due to this new rule, i myself was looking forward to using a cc ( Ezfrost ) yet i find that zip and svn links have both been removed. it really was an awsome cc, btw im not dissing Singular ;p, its just ezfrost was the god of pvp cc for me anyway.

Don't worry, under the new rules they are free to distribute since they use the code. If they won't repost them cause their e-peen is so large, I will GLADLY repost them for them.

Development is a hobby. There will always be people who enjoy it and that release their work.
