Long thread here: RNG: Debunked and explained - Forums - Diablo III

TLDR:
-Legendaries are rolled as a loot table per player per game. Not all legendaries are dropped equally
-If you make a level 34 T6 game with a level 34 character, you will only get legendaries dropped up to iLvl 34
-However, if you gamble at Kadala, you will get lvl 70 items
-Net,net run a rift until you see the item you like (e.g., MLW, or Wand of Woh), then run rifts in the same lowbie t6 game to get shards and gamble at Kadala

I just spent the last few hours with a friend running several level 11 and 34 t6 games. We were trying to get MLW and Wands of WoW. We had probably dropped about 30-40 legendaries each and none of the legendaries exceeded level 11 or 34 based on the item iLvl charts. For example, see legendary amulets here -- Amulets - Game Guide - Diablo III. While we don't have enough data to be 100% conclusive, it seems this system to get targeted legendary drops using bots seems more of a sure thing over a longer period of time than just running rifts randomly.

This makes rift running on lower level accounts and then gambling shards more interesting as a strategy to get the legendaries you want.

I fail to see the benefit in running a low level t6 rift over a lvl 70 t1 rift. Extra 0.25 games per hour and throwing away all possibility of finding end game gear just for some blood shards seems like a really bad idea. Kadala's really not that lucrative.

What I got out of it seems that it's more of the idea wherein if you have a second account or a buddy that can open a low level game for you that it's better to gamble with kadala at that lower level game.

I agreed in that you shouldn't really throw away all possibility finding end game gear purely for the extra blood shards.

So essentially do your lvl70 T1+ rifts/bounties and then spend your 500 blood shards on that lower level game to maximize your chances of getting what you want from Kadala.

I did a bit of reading and I m still a bit confused on something.

For example if I wanted to get the Mara's Kaleidoscope requires level 60, do I find a friend who is level 63+ and join their game and run T6 rift until one drops and then use all my shards on Kadala?

is that how it suppose to work?

Yep that's correct.

After doing some testing - the theory does indeed work.
You can target drops based on the itemlevel - to do so I'll post a step by step

1) Find the item you want - look at the game guide for its ilvl - for the example we're going to use Cindercoat
2) Cindercoat is itemlevel 31 - roll a character - get it to level 34 (itemlevel +3)
3) Open a game on level 34 T6 - invite second account/friend to hold game - rejoin with your level 70
4) Run rifts until said legendary drops (Chest is abit hard - as there is 4 other chests in the loot table that could possibly drop)
5) IF (its not going to happen some games) targeted leg drops - at that point its worth gambling your blood shards for the item - as you've confirmed its in your loot table and therefore can gamble it.
6) At this point I usually gamble multiples of the targeted item until I am happy with its roll
7) ????
8) Profit

Hope that helps ! <3

The only worry I have about farming blood shards in a different game, is when you go to a lower level game to spend your shards, you may not get your MLW. I've had to literally run rifts in t6 on a level 11 t6 game until I found the item I wanted. And then I would blow 2000 shards to get several rolls of the same item in Kadala. This is time consuming for sure but in many cases it maximizes the chance I can get a Moonlight Ward.

I'm trying now to get a Wand of Woh by farming level 34 games but the drop rate is a little more difficult, since there are so many iLvl 31 weapons. However, I think it's still better than farming level 70 games because the item distribution and variance is even worse.

I wish gambling was part of some plugin, I would spin up 1 or 2 bots to test this.

What is a really good and fast way to test your loot table? Say I'm going for a Starmetal Kukri, how would I test to make sure it's NOT in my current loot table (so I can remake and find it in another lv34 game), also if your loot table is predetermined, how can DemonBuddy not detect this bit of data (maybe by memreading?) to tell you what items are in the loot table?

does this work for caches where forexample my friend mades a level 15 game. (RORG is level 12) and then we rejoin the game with all levle 70s and get the cache which will have level 70 items but ilvl of up to 12? that would reduce act 1 farming ALOT

No, gear from caches will drop the same lvl as the game they came from. Apparently Kadala doesn't follow the same rules.

I got a Witching Hour from a game made by a lvl 70, yet the item is a lvl 60 item. So.. this is just luck IMO. As strange as blizzard might be, I don't think the system works like that..

Well, you don't understand the post. Stuff that'll drop requires (ilvl + 3) character level. So you need a lvl 63+ game for the WH to drop. So in your scenario, it makes sense. Anyways, it's only feasible to farm lower ilvl stuff with this method, assuming it does actually work.

For those that are confused:
1. find ilvl of item you want
2. add 3 to it, and get a character of that level to make a T6 game
3. now enter with your level 70 and farm stuff until you get the legendary that you were looking for
4. it'll be low level, but it's okay because now you DON'T leave the game and spam blood shards at kadala for that piece of legendary
5. if you get lucky, then kadala will give you a level 70 version even though you were in a lower level game.

well, I just noticed it was already explained on the first page, oops.

No worries hizumi :). I've run this manually now for many sessions, and I'm pretty sure it works. I've gotten my MLW, Haunt of Haxo's and multiple, multiple countess cameo drops. It is a grind though.

Still no luck with the Wand of Woh...
