Make an official disclaimer already

For the last 1-2 weeks I've levelled from 1 - 87 with a mixture of questing bot and Tyrael. As of yet I'm not banned.

I've turned off features that i feel make me stand out like a bot, I've matched my previous play style so i don't look different, i turn the bot off every now and again to take legitimate breaks, I've performed worse in boss fights to make me look more human, i make mistakes like pressing fear in rotations, or pressing other buttons or screwing up in general. I talk regularly in chat and just try and act normal.

I think the vast majority of people being banned are people who are using incomplete routines (i.e. Kicks profiles) and are botting for large periods of time with it being unattended.

3 times on Monday just gone, i reported people for botting. They where clearly botting and IMO bringing unnecessary attention to the botting community. 1 guy was clearly botting inside a dungeon, the same group 2 did dungeons and the same dungeons and the same guy followed the same path both times, so he got reported at least 3 times from that group. The other 2 times where people either hop stepping while following a quest escort or running into environmental objects.

Now its been started on here that at the moment questing and gathering is being watched/hammered by Blizzard, so that should be done manually for the time being. If you quested and got banned and you read this forum, then you wouldn't have quest botted.

When you bot you need to match your previous and current play times and styles to not "look" abnormal. If you all of a sudden play for 15 hours a day when you normally only played for 3 hours a day, it will look very dodgy to GM's. Just because your botting, doesn't mean your either immune or god.

You need to act as much like a human being as possible, talk in /general and guild chat often, turn the bot off for an hour and pretend your going to the shops in guild chat or something. Add to the illusion that your a person not a machine playing the game. Very few people can constantly move and fight for 10 hours without needing a piss.

If your rotation botting, turn it off every now and again, monitor your DPS and make sure you do badly on some fights. For example i play a warlock and can easily do more dps then most classes on AoE and sometimes certain boss fights, so for example on a mobile boss fight like the last boss in brewery i should be doing less DPS then the melee, so i always make sure i am.

I also try and explain to people why certain things happen with my character, for example i have a K90 keyboard and Nostromo Speed pad, both macro heavy and i just explain sometimes that I've macro'd certain abilities together and to press very frequently i.e. Incinerate macro which presses the key x amount of times a second if you press and hold.

Don't have the bot automate facing, targeting and movement, turn off pet summoning. Turn off interrupts, as time and time again people are making posts related to interrupts.

Now for my conspiracy....

I think these bans are related to Click to Move, i think they are watching players who have this enabled and checking in on them. This feature outside the bot community i would argue is used very infrequently.

I back this up with the consistent posts about gathering, honour and quest botting players getting banned and they are all click to move bots.

Botting is a risk and we all know it, you have to accept that if you don't take protections and precautions you will be found out sooner then others.

Posted in the other thread, so added it here.

I think the reason why the devs got banned was the fact that they were the only ones getting player reports since no one else was botting on the closed beta, and GMs investigates those reports.

Been reading all the reports about leveling with the bot, and specifically the questing issue. These reports are mostly deleted or ignored. Decided to try for myself. Half a day of leveling, instantly 72 hour ban. We know you're not gonna fix anything, so at least make a disclaimer telling people about it.
Bot smart and you wont get banned, simple as that.

Only thing your post says is many people dont bot smart.

Oh, I'm all grown up - thanks! Yes, because you report botters you should be banned.

Maybe you should check the forum rules, Ashton187. Reporting fellow botters is not allowed in any way, no matter how stupid they're botting.

You've been a member for over a year, how could you not know that?

Please ban this fool!
So because i report blatant and stupid botters, i should be banned?
Grow up, I'm trying to reduce the amount of morons who can't use this tool correctly.

Hi, Ashton187,

Indeed Xerious and Ryftobuddy are correct. Reporting fellow botters is one of a few offenses that requires an immediate forum perma-ban. Next time, you might want to familiarize yourself with the rules before posting.

cheers & sorry you decided to do this,

those stupid botters are a safety net for real botters, also reporting them could also get you banned in-game since GMs investigate both parties.

Hey me too!
I reported Kpowsbank, Kpowspally, and plzdontbankpow! They continued to undercut me in the AH so I would get on my alt and undercut them. I could tell they were botting every time I got on my other alts they had already undercut me again!! Hopefully they will be banned soon.

Wait a minute...?

If someone's obvious bot is failing hard, send 'em a discrete whisper, like, "Hey, I think your mount is too big to fit thru that door," as opposed to something dumb like, "hey fellow bot, I noticed your bot is stuck on a door. That happens when I bot on this account all the time. Don't worry about it, I won't report you for botting on your bot like I bot on my bot."

>90% are reported by other players. Rest is stupid botting like 24/7 hour farming, massive AH abuse
or other really obvious things.

im not sure botanist, fps ware or I will agree with you there. Plugin Devs and long-time-seasoned botters are being banned and having entire battle.nets mass-banned. Pull your thumb out of your ass.

I'm sorry but what have you developed? :D

-Please don't take it personally.

Rule of life: there are always exceptions. Yes, what happened to them happened. I refuse to believe that many bans occur this way, as I'm yet to see any evidence. (Aside from the few exceptions of course)

The bans where all of us got banned. I personally lost 0 accounts. It happend while leveling with kicks. I started the bot on monday 4.11.2013 and let it run for 2 weeks while i was @ holidays. When i came back i noticed that it did not work well. !!!!! 111!!!!
Ah, handnavi, you are such a big silly! lol

I love watching silly trolls troll. XD

its a fair comment - for hb not a lot (infact, nothing released publicly). It's no real secret that i kinda lost most of my interest/drive in botting when glider went down (and even then 95% of my stuff was private back then too!).

It is for that reason i said 'and long-time-seasoned botters' which I included myself in.
