Dear all is it possible to make a central XML webservice containing a collection of all Quest profiles ??? I think this should be very feasable.

See it as a Thottbot for HB.

I would be more than happy to take the initiative... Got servers running and I have programming experience. (Some time ago do).

Basically, an plug-in that downloads all the available quest info from the quest XML webservice for all the quests in your log, blacklisting dungeon and group quests as an option. OFC I need the community to provide quest ‘hot-spots’/’targets’(Grind/collection) and what item to use in what coordinates at or what NPC to follow(Follow quests). The info now available in several quest profiles across the Forum.

Please let me know your thoughts!

Funny that you just posted this, ive been thinking about the exact same thing for a while and earlier today i posted a thread much alike http://www.thebuddyforum.com/showthread.php?11752-Idea-Quest-Order-database.

However i think using external sites such as "thottbot" "wowhead" could work for some things, though i think that is bound to create a huge problem ie "I made quest order profile and im stuck at quest xxx plz help" questions all day long. My approach would be: start with clean slate, then import already existing profiles that have high quality on the forum. Then also provide a good interface to add quests and all properties required for quests.

And the catch here is to have a strong interface. ie reuse as much data as possible that way "npc xxx is wrong" ok you fix that and you have fixed all quests using that NPC. Same goes for blackspots and mailboxes.

Indeed, exactly along the line I was thinking... Would indeed like to start with an empty database and add the quests available in existing profiles on this forum.

When a user of the plug-in picks-up a quest that is not in the central database, you can simply click one of the 3 add buttons for the quest -> place hotspot at/around my current location for: grind/collect/use item xx here.

This way the system is learning from the buddy community...
I have in no case the ambit on to link it to existing databases like thottbot, I just brought it forward as an example, something like that but specifically for HB.
Think I will go for it setting up the web service and communication is not a challenge for me, getting to understand the HB plug-in syntax is for the moment still a bit blurry. (And can a plug-in overwrite questing POI’s?)

Will start working on it ;-) when there are more positive responces.

If you ask really nicely, i will allow you to access my webservices + database containing ALL the quests with all the hotspots + all the overrides

Currently, i have 6k+ quests + overrides in there.
So, let me know, and maybe we can work out somekind of a deal, i already created this for use in Singularity, yes, it picks up quests from these webservices, no need to have a quest profile.

It handles all the overrides, trainers, vendors.

If you would like to have a chat about it, catch me on the IRC server.

Pios, I'd also be very interested in finding out more about your quest server. What is the HB IRC information? I can't seem to find the thread.

Hi all,

OK..... After some chats with well known ppl in this community we think this would deffinatly be benifitial to all quest botters.......

My surgestion for an actionplan, get gothers a project 'core' team.
- First objective of this team will not be to develop the application but to find if it is worth the effort.

All ppl who have XML/SQL/webservices and or plug-in development experiance please report at:
